Management was kind enough to grant us a very early check-in due to the bad weather... I'm sure that's not always possible, but it shows flexibility and care for their customers. We appreciated it so much.. And the beach view! Our room was clean, and all amenities within were in good working order (kettle, air-con, fridge, tv, remote etc.) It was also quieter at night than we expected it to be. Very comfortable bed and great shower. Location was terrific, easy walk to supermarket, dining, musuem, botanic gardens, rockpool, etc. Pool looked clean but we didn't swim during our stay as it was raining. They have obviously put a lot of work into refurbishment at this motel. Good value for location and amenities.

The room felt very small at first , but really once we got used to it we realized it didn't need to be any bigger.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. They were able to accommodate an early arrival for a funeral. They were so good with pointing out alternative parking if the spot was filled. The room was clean and you could smell how clean it was upon walking in. The added convenience of kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge/ freezer. A kitchen sink and tea towel were also very welcome.

The fact I was there for a funeral and got sick meant that I couldn't explore as much as I would have liked. All out of anyone's control.

Unbelievable central location, Cole’s basically next door, highlights of the town over the road, did not need a car. Very friendly accomodation .So unlike most motels a real North Queensland attitude.

We could not fault it. For a very old motel. It was a North Queensland experience. Maybe rowdy could be a problem. Management did everything possible to make our sta comfortable. Did not have a sharp knife to cut a tomato.

It was situated opposite the beach with a lovely breakfast cafe. I could sit and look out at the ocean and the walkers along the strand. It was a lovely clean comfortable room with a nice little pool at the back. The lady managing the desk was very helpful and friendly. It was also very close to the restaurants, cafe’s, takeaway and ice cream shop. It was very convenient to have Coles and a few shops directly behind the Motel. I would definitely stay there again.

I was given a ground floor unit. The amenities in this accommodation are old, clean and comfortable. The kitchen area has a proper sink, the refrigerator has a separate freezer and is really good. The unit is convenient to a hotel where lunch and dinner can be had, as well as other food outlets close by. This accommodation also has a small Cafe attached for breakfast, brunch or lunch and closes st midday but opens early. Reasonably priced and the food is varied to suit all diets. This is the second time staying here and more then likely will do so again when next travelling north.

Great price for accommodation on The Strand. Excellent view of water and Castle Hill. Make sure you get an upstairs room for the balcony and view. Robyn couldn't have been more helpful and the cafe out the front is an asset.

For the price it was great. The room is small and the ensuite is tiny (watch your head on the shelf when you brush your teeth) - but I would stay again for the location.

It was small but comfortable, with enough bench-space to be able to do what we needed to do without having to multi-stack anything. The room had good thermal-mass, meaning that the air-conditioning did not have to work too hard. Location was perfect for our purposes.

My only niggles were with the size of the refrigerator (small, although BONUS! it had a respectable and working freezer compartment), and no hot-water connection to the kitchenette sink, so washing glasses and dishes required using the electric kettle; OH&S people would have kittens.

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - especially during the build up and during the cyclone. Stayed here during Cyclone Kirrily and slept like a baby due to well insulated quiet rooms. Location is fantastic 👌. We had a 2 bedroom unit and yes it's old, but was fantastic value for money and lots of space! Parking was easy to get in and out and would easily accommodate a large 4WD.

The Strand motel is in excellent location. Just a few steps to everything. Coffee shops, restaurants beach is literally in front of your door. Their own coffee shop was open only for breakfast which had a wide range of classic western style of breakfast, delicious coffee and warm and friendly service. Food was delicious and yummy. Special thanks to Garry and Robyn for their friendly, professional service and kindness. The Motel building itself is an old building in need of major renovation Resent outside painting looks nice but it could not cover the need of new material to match modern facilities, venues in and around the area.

Absolute value for money. We wanted somewhere on the Strand that wasn’t going to break the bank. It was comfortable and all you need for a place to sleep for a few days. The bonus was the amazing well priced breakfast on the front veranda. The staff looked after us really well and met our additional needs with a smile. Very friendly place.
