The rooms at the Inn at Lock Seven are newly painted and renovated. They are quite spacious, well appointed and clean. The air conditioner works well and the shower has good pressure. The view of the lock and the passing ships was also fun to watch for our son. The balcony is large and there is a nice breeze in the morning and afternoons. There is adequate space for parking at the Inn. We drove down with our own vehicle and you can easily find everything you need within 5-10 mins drive: groceries, coffee shops, restaurants, etc. Niagara on the Lake and Niagara Falls are only a 15-20 min drive away.
The mattress was a bit firm and the blanket not as comfortable as you would find in a hotel chain. I would have preferred a more comfortable comforter or duvet. The air conditioner is loud when set to high, but much quieter on energy-saver. The bathroom fan is connected to the bathroom lights, so you cannot turn the lights on without the fan also being on. However, it was fair value for the price we paid. And the room was clean.

This is an interesting place...a bit of vintage tourism and a bit of Lawrence Seaway history. I stayed there in the fall after the flowers were gone, so the place looked tired, dated, and very humble. Very clean rooms. Very nice manger/owner (?). The stairwell and (open air) corridors are a bit depressing...chipped cement, plastic bucket sits outside each room (for cigarette butts, maybe?). They still use actual keys (not swipe card). What I found VERY cool was its location directly across from a lock on the historic Welland Canal. So periodically I could look out my window and see very large barges moving slowly through the locks as they made their way between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. The room was spotless, slightly spartan, one mattress was a bit firm, but I slept like a log. Bathroom is small but clean. This was totally satisfactory for what I needed...last minute, one night, safe, clean. Walking distance to a couple eateries (that were closed the night I was there), it's in a peaceful, mature neighborhood. Two minute walk to the very interesting Lock 7 Viewing Center.
Need to ignore the dark, rather dank stairwells and hallways. I suspect the plastic bucket outside each room was for smokers...not a good look, but happily, no one was standing outside their room smoking. Once you're in the room, it's just fine.

We love this place - it is ideal for a quiet getaway, we come every year - twice, this year. The location is great - right on the Canal, and you can watch the shipping from your room, coming & going from all sorts of destinations - and the best part is that it is so blissfully quiet & peaceful. The owner is thoughtful and caring,a real gem.We will come here every year as long as we are able.I wouldn't miss it for the world.
Nothing.

We had a great stay here. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the huge ships passing through the lock. We sat out with a bottle of wine and looked up each one on the internet as they passed by. The host in the office was very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. We will come back next year for sure when we are in the area for winery visits.
We were pleased with everything.

This was seriously such a cool and unique hotel stay. The rooms look directly over one of the major locks on the Welland Canal, through which pass enormous ships traversing the Great Lakes -- such a cool thing to watch. The windows are huge so you can look at the lock, but the room also has a little balcony you can hang out on (with a little table and chairs) while enjoying this totally unique view! Other than that, especially for the price it was great value -- spotlessly clean room and a very friendly welcome by the gentleman at the desk. Plenty of restaurants and food options nearby, too. I will go out of my way to stay here if I'm in the area again in the future.
No big deal, but my door required a really hard slam to close/lock -- make sure you check the handle before assuming it's closed!

The Inn is quite charming on the outside. The original building goes back to the 1700s which is a nice bit of history. Our backyard was pretty much Lock 7 where we saw huge ships coming through, as well as smaller vessels. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. The location was nice to take walks around and see all the cute houses and Lock 7. The room itself was quite clean.
There was no onsite restaurant. We had to leave to get food. This was a little inconvenient. I found the room quite noisy with the AC unit, but it did keep the room at a good temperature.

Location is absolutely excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the ships go through the lock. The room was very clean, comfortable beds, good pillows and beautiful neighborhood. Several little restaurants nearby or just a 10 minute drive to Clifton Hills or the other direction to Niagara on the Lake.
Only thing that I think needs improvement is the wifi. It's difficult looking up area places to go and directions when the signal just isn't strong enough.

Very clean and comfortable place to stay. I booked this room to get ready for my wedding. The window/balcony is a great touch absolute love the view. I had booked a two night stay as I was unsure of when I would check out. Ended up only needed the one day. They very generously refunded one of my nights stay without me asking. All the staff I encountered were lovely.
Some of the stylings were outdated but that in no way shape or form detracted anything from my visit.

Location is close to the person I was visiting so that was convenient and the price was fair. Honestly the price was why I chose this inn. Hotel rates are over priced. Just needed a place to sleep. The ships going through the locks are a bonus! Carpets looked nice and clean and bathroom looked modern and clean.
Bath towels are always too small. Blankets looked really old and well used. Carrying luggage up the stairs is a challenge but we survived.

Super clean rooms with a really cool view of the Welland Canal lift lock. It’s really need to see massive ships come through the locks! The owner is lovely too - he was very welcoming and pointed me in the direction of some restaurants and other amenities in town. St Catherine’s is very close with many choices for food and shopping and wine.
Everything was great.
