It was beautiful to stay in a traditional Balinese thatched roof cabin on the beach. It was like stepping back in time forty years to the first time I came to Bali. The room had everything we needed - comfortable bed, beautiful view through the coconut palms to the waves just beyond. It was clean, the fan worked well, mosquito net had no holes, and the lights all worked! The staff were lovely and the breakfast of banana fritters, fruit plate and beautiful black Balinese coffee was brought out for us to eat on the terrace. Just lovely! I would stay again in a heartbeat.

That road! Candi Dasa is ruined by that road. So fast and busy and loud! Thankfully we couldn't hear it from our lovely room.

I loved my 3 nights here. A slice of paradise. Well appointed and comfortable rooms with lots of storage and right on the beachfront. Bathroom is outdoor too. Room was cleaned everyday and the staff were lovely and attentive. Breakfasts were simple and tasty and there were 3 choices. I felt very safe as a solo female. I would definitely stay here again if in candidasa. Highly recommend my room number 5. Noticed that others on the comments section complained of noise from the street. From this room the noise was very very faint as it was closer to the beachfront away from the road.

Nothing not to like. I loved all of it. However, just a heads up to others. This place is rustic so bugs/catererpillars/mossies etc make their presence known from time to time (there is a net for the bed). Also there when you get back after dark, the walk back to your room is in almost pitch dark. I had to use my phone torch.

Ida's Homestay is an ideal opportunity to get away from the masses but don't expect mod cons. This isn't what it's about. It's about returning to the values of a simple life. You are grateful to be in such natural beauty, and grateful not to be surrounded by concrete. My dog was the happiest he has ever been here. It's only a 20 minute scooter ride to Virgin Beach and we have discovered that you can hire a local fisherman to taxi you over there in his boat for a fee. There is always a member of staff on hand in a non intrusive way. Cold water only showers are usually too cold for me, but the shower temperature was perfectly refreshing. Love the small bay of a beach and the shallow water to float in. The water here must be of high salt content as it was very easy just to float and not worry about being dragged out into the Ocean. Lots of hangers provided. Very clean (if dated) toilet. Effective overhead ceiling fan and small desk fan meant A/C was not missed at all. I was concerned about the reviews of the busy road noise, however, although you can on occasion hear a large truck or a noisy scooter exhaust, it's in passing and not a constant. Focusing on the sound of the Ocean Waves was enough to overcome any sporadic traffic noise. Super safe feeling and it was a real treat to be able to leave the windows open at night to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the waves. There is also what looks like a museum of super interesting artifacts, and a temple under a large Banyan Tree. Both very special.

The cost of a 1hr basic massage was more than I would have expected at 125 000 IDR. Also, the oil that was used was very thick and did not smell very nice (almost like used cooking oil) and it was applied way too liberally. We ordered a set dinner menu on the first night, and honestly, it wasn't worth 150 000 IDR. Some soup that tasted like a stock cube with water, a too small (but delicious) water spinach dish, skewers with Sate, rice and a fruit plate for dessert. Breakfast of eggs, coffee and fruit is ok, but the bread used for toast is very VERY sweet.

The staff and location. Ida's is a little bit of Heaven on earth. If you like to chill, snorkel and just take in the view. Well this is the place for you. The accommodation is rustic yet beautiful. Situated looking over to Penida Is some great sunsets. Make sure you go snorkelling ( you need at least to go twice as it's spectacular) the boat boys out front by the beach will advise you. You can see turtels everyday from the wall which jets out too. The staff are amazing and go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. You can have a great massage by the water just ask the staff. Vincent's restaurant a short walk near by is a must. Making Ida's a perfect place to stay. As a solo woman traveller l always felt safe and met lots of interesting people if l wanted company. I would highly recommend Ida's I've booked to go back already🌸

Good breakfast. Nice to sit on the decking by the sea. We were delighted that we could have a very early breakfast on our last day before leaving for the airport. The mattress was very comfortable and the mosquitoi netting was very good. We were provided with hot water for the shower. There were adequate plugs for our eletrical equipment. The coconut plantation was beautiful. Our driver, Nengah Suar jaya was excellent. The bungalow felt very private.

It would have been good if we would have had the possibility to pay by card.

This is a haven in busy Candidasa. There are only a handful of huts dotted around a big grassy lot going right down to the sea. We had the hut right at the shore. It is a traditional looking hut made from bamboo and hardwood, but extremely well appointed: lights over the bed and on the porch good enough to read by, a mosquito net that spans the whole bed and does not fall onto your face, outside bathroom without hot water from the shower but an insulated bucket was filled with hot water every day, very good breakfast choices, and I was brought a thermos with hot water each evening for my insanely early morning coffee. The staff were very friendly and even offered to do up the room each day. We had dinner at the property each night because our porch was really the nicest place to sit in Candidasa. There are also a couple of roofed areas for bigger groups to sit by the shore.

that we had to move on

I love everything about this place. It is basic yet you don’t need anything else. This place is one of the top accommodations I’ve been in Bali. It has beautiful palm trees garden, beautiful sunset view, ocean breeze, perfect mosquito nets, breakfast included in the price and they can even bring it to you by the ocean. If I come to Bali again, this is the place I want to go again.

Nothing! But prepare yourself for no aircon (but ocean breeze is enough + you get a fan) and cold shower (but who would even use hot?)… non of it is problem.

It was very comfortable and as a solo female traveller I felt very safe. The property was exactly what I was looking for, it gave me a chance to slow down and relax amongst the palm trees. The breakfast that was included isn't huge but was the perfect amount for me. The mosquito net kept me protected from the bugs at night and sleeping listening to the waves was divine. Despite being rustic the property has excellent WiFi. It is very close to lots of great warungs.

BREAKFAST WAS GOOD, WESTERN STYLE, EGGS, TOAST, PANCAKES, FRUITS, TEA COFFEE. MY ROOM WAS ON THE WATERFRONT WHICH WAS PERFECT. SUCH A GORGEOUS SETTING AMONGST THE PALM TREES, THE COW MOWS THE GRASS DAILY, STAFF SO FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. VERY TYPICAL OLD STYLE BALI, NICE TO STAY IN A TRADITIONAL SETTING AND BUNGALOW INSTEAD OF THE MANY CONCRETE HOMESTAYS AROUND. HIGHY RECOMMENDED.
