The hotel is in a very picturesque location with a castle ruin adjacent to it. The owner gave us a tour which was an unexpected bonus. Parking is available on site. Full breakfasts are included and are very enjoyable.

The building is not designed for people with disabilities, with many stairs between the hotel lobby and the rooms. This wasn't a deal breaker for us however, there is no elevator so carrying our luggage to and from the room was a hassle. The hotel restaurant is not open on Mondays ( a fact we discovered on arrival ) so if you arrive late and are expecting a meal on that day you must travel to the nearest town. (The town is not too far away and there are several pubs that serve full dinners and play great music.)

The location, grounds, staff, and cuisine exceeded our expectations! Our host Daniel who was our waiter and bartender made our stay priceless the tour of the castle by his father/owner was a true treat. Cannot recommend this place more highly. ENJOY!

This was a most charming hotel with beautiful traditional décor and extremely comfortable beds. The family who owned and ran the hotel were all friendly and helpful. There was even a guided tour of the Tower House (castle) in the grounds, which was very interesting (although the steep spiral staircase not for the faint-hearted or anyone with mobility issues). Dinner was extremely good (better than a Michelin starred restaurant we visited up the coast and not pretentious), as was breakfast. All in all, a place I would thoroughly recommend and very good value for money.

Nothing. But it would have been good to know in advance about the 6.30pm tour of the castle, as we very nearly missed it because we didn't know about it. Maybe we just didn't see it advertised.

Wonderful property with a great location for day trips to Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, or for visiting Doolin for shopping, the pubs with their music, or for taking the ferry to the islands. Gorgeous views out to the cliffs or across the bay to the islands or the mountains of Connemara. A special treat is having Declan give a tour of the old castle tower that is on the property, and explain the history of it with commentary the construction as well. Our room was large and comfortable, clean and well appointed. The restaurant on property is great as well, providing us with a wonderful dinner in the evening and a fabulous breakfast each morning. Super attention from everyone on property.

Nothing to dislike

The grounds are gorgeous. The landscaping, horses and other animals when you drive up are so picturesque. The castle, manor house and hotel are beautiful. Staff is very courteous. Food and drinks for breakfast and dinner were delicious. Gerald gave us a tour of the grounds and the manor house. He is very knowledgeable about the property and the historical significance of it.

We were first placed in a room that had some small stains on the carpet. Looked like pet stains. Just not acceptable. Obviously somebody didn’t do their job well. However the manager upgraded our room and gave us a discount off our stay. We would stay again in a minute.

Charming to have arrived only to be whisked off for an intimate tour of the family castle located a few steps away. The hotel owners were graceful hosts Lovely views of the Cliffs of Mohr from our bedroom window. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Rustic bar on the premises with lively conversation and song. Conveniently located, 5 minutes from the Doolin Cave, a must-visit, and 10 minutes from the Aran Island ferries, also a must-visit, in between a string of pubs offering live music and yes, you can even have a 5 euro coffee by the local barista.

Location of the Ballinalacken Castle Country House Hotel was good - we had a lovely room with a view of the Cliffs of Moher. It was quite a bit of a walk from the check-in desk to our room so if you have mobility issues you would want a room closer. Rooms are a bit dated but clean. The grounds were beautiful, a tour of the castle was interesting and very much appreciated. There was parking on the grounds for our car - this was outside Doolin and the pubs on Fisher Street so a car was needed. We enjoyed breakfast at the hotel which was very good and had dinner there one evening - three of the four of us ordered a steak with only one receiving it as requested (medium rare). The others were cooked medium to medium-well. The staff were quite nice and very helpful. Overall, I would recommend the Ballinalacken Castle Country House Hotel!

Dinner (steaks) in the restaurant were over-cooked.

Rooms were very spacious. The breakfast was nice - good variety and good food. The staff was more than happy to answer questions for us. The rooms were beautiful, and the beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the onsite bar. They did a nice tour of the onsite castle. The drive to our activities was quick from this location. The grounds are beautiful and well kept.

Be aware of several small sets of steps throughout the facility.

It had a wonderful location, beautiful, antique furnishings. We had a suite with a king size bed which we weren't expecting. Daniel was extremely helpful in bringing us a dessert we requested so we could eat it in our room. We appreciated the extra touch. Sitting in the lounge was delightful as we watched the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean and the Aran Islands . Beautiful flowers on the hill to help sustain the bee population and pollination.

Everything was good, although the toilet was rather close to the sink, which made it a bit more challenging. Not uncomfortable, just a bit awkward. A very minor problem.

The location was amazing, great place to watch sunset. Just a short drive into Doolin with a handful of pubs near the property. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. I didn't have a chance to try the breakfast as I headed out too early in the morning. Very close to The Burren for sunset walks/viewing. About a 10 minute drive to Cliffs of Moher and there's a castle tour daily of the castle on the property. Comfortable rooms.

Wish breakfast started earlier for those who want to get going early.
