Late check-in was easy to arrange in advance as I arrived in Douglas past the hotel's check-in times. My suite room was massive, with a very comfortable armchair and couch and a beautiful view looking out onto Douglas bay and promenade. The room was well decorated with lovely abstract artwork canvases and pastel coloured walls, and there was an abundance of space to store luggage and personal items. The shower and bathroom were great, and although the hotel is a fair walk from Douglas ferry terminal, it is very close to amenities such as a Spar and a fish and chip shop. A great, reasonably priced option.
The double bed was two singles pushed together with a double bed duvet, but this didn't really impact me negatively, and I slept well. The hotel is also a fair walk away from Douglas ferry terminal if arriving by ferry. This wasn't an issue for me, but it is something to bear in mind.

Rooms (we had two) were very good, clean, airy, light and recently decorated. Bathrooms were excellent. Plenty of hot water, nice firm mattress, generous provision of tea and coffee. Hotel is a satellite of another establishment, so we only saw staff at breakfast but they were very much present and happy to help. We had a problem with our first room which was dealt with quickly and with minimal fuss. Breakfast is basic but adequate. Restaurant in the main hotel is available to book but we didn't try it.
If I had to be picky. more plugs in more accessible places and maybe a bedside lamp each. Nothing else of note.

The location was perfect for the airport and for access to the National Sports Centre where we enjoyed playing in the IoM Pickleball Festival all weekend. The hotel is also within easy walking distance for local restaurants, bars, theatre and cinema. A ride on the electric railway to visit the Laxey Wheel was another exciting part of our weekend. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and could not do enough for us, booking taxis and keeping our cases safe following checkout, to allow us to make the most of our last day before our flight later in the evening. Continental breakfast was plentiful and was provided in the dining room overlooking the promenade where you can watch horse drawn trams pass as you eat. Our bedrooms were enormous, clean and comfortable and everything we needed was provided. Three of us stayed for three nights at this hotel which is located on the promenade with amazing sea views and was excellent value for money. We will definitely be staying here again and have already recommend it to our friends.
We could not fault our stay as everything exceeded our expectations in terms of staff, cleanliness, location and value for money.

Arrived early evening and found check in was unmanned (or unpersoned to be politically correct) There was a phone on the reception desk and very simple clear instructions on how to contact staff and get the key. This was no big issue for me, I'd rather have a happy helpful person on the phone than a bored receptionist who welcomes you with gritted teeth because they wanted to go home half an hour ago. I used the lift to get to the top floor. It's a typical lift for a hotel of this shape and size. When in a hotel like this you don't expect one the size of Wembley stadium! The room was huge with a lovely view around the bay and plenty of storage and wardrobe space. The tea/coffee tray was well stocked and included a few biscuits and Tetley tea bags. What more could you want! The windows open wide which means lots of fresh sea air can flow in and the sound of the waves coming ashore can be heard. Bathroom was also a good size, spotlessly clean and had a really comfortable bath. Hot water was never an issue when getting a shower in the mornings. There's a blind on the window but if you're at the back end of the bathroom (i.e the loo) there was no need to close the blind as only passengers on ships with binoculars could have seen in. It really is a loo with a view! The bed for me was comfortable. It's personal taste at the end of the day isn't it? A bit low down maybe but that doesn't matter when you're asleep. Breakfast was exactly as described, a small continental selection. There was 2 different juices, some yoghurts, 3 or 4 cereals, white and brown bread for toast, butter and jams, tea and coffee. I've stayed in a wide range of places on the island over the years, from small back street B&Bs to huge "posh" hotels on the front. All have failed to live up to expectations for one reason or another. This place, while not perfect doesn't pretend to be something it isn't.
There wasn't much I didn't like. If I had to be picky it would be to provide proper tea spoons not the wooden ones in the bedrooms. A lot of places are doing this now and I don't see why, there's no need to use a disposable product when a washable one is just as good if not better. Cereal bowls aren't really cereal bowls and bigger cups would be better at breakfast. (there are decent size mugs in the bedrooms for any tea-aholics out there)

Overall, it was a nice hotel esp for those who have places to go. I was out after the standard continental breakfast and back around 10/11pm so didn't need the usual hotel amenities you would expect. James was v helpful and upgraded me to Sea view which was great (have a look at the photo from the room). The bus is close of the hotel and the staff are nice.
One downside of The Penta is its location on the Queens Prom, it's not close to the town centre. It's easier to catch a bus (which is close) into town (only worth it if you have a pass). The second is there is hardly any decent food options around the hotel (most closed down or open at odd hours) unless you go into Douglas town centre. The best option was to order in.

The room and all facilities were excellent and very clean. Plenty of variety at breakfast and the dining room was very spacious. Helpful staff
When we had booked our stay at The Penta, we answered the question about time of arrival, stating that as we were arriving on the ferry from Liverpool, we would arrive at about 10 - 11pm. We received a message saying that because of our arrival time, we would need to pick our hotel key from a different hotel. When we called to verify this, we were told - very abruptly - that we couldn't change, or alter our booking in anyway, without losing our money.

A friendly and helpful young lady who was in charge greeted us on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble for her during our stay, she made sure we had a pleasant stay. Super large rooms with comfortable bed and good-sized bathroom. Spotlessly clean throughout. The breakfast room was decorated in a French style, which was very pleasing to the eye. I had the continental breakfast, and this was most adequate. Great location, good local transport from outside the front door. Highly recommended, I will most certainly stay here again.
There was nothing that l did not like about this hotel .Nothing that springs to mind....

The room is big, well furnitured, and clean. The falicities are a little bit old but acceptable and of good conditions. The heating is very good. The location is also good. One bus stop is just in front of the hotel. There is also one shop nearby. The sunrise is visible through the window. The staff are pretty nice and can reply to messages promptly. The breakfast is simple but enough for me.
The kettle is provided but no tap for drinking water in the room. The windows need to be cleaned for a better view of the sunrise.

Nice and quiet, very clean , complimentary continental style breakfast set me up for the day. Nice large room at the back of the property with no view which didn’t bother me in the slightest as there was no road noise .Previous review mentioned a smell of tar? at the back of the building I had the windows permanently open and no odours whatsoever. The receptionist/ maid was extremely friendly and polite. I would not hesitate to stay again.
Nothing to complain about
