It was our first time in ryokan. The hosts were very helpful and spoke English quite well. We had several questions before arriving and they responded on booking chat quickly and answer all our questions. They offer pickup at the Sounzan station, which was super helpful, because it was raining, but it's in walkable distance form the station if you like hiking. The host lady explained us everything we needed to know regarding our stay in ryokan. They offer 2 times of breakfast, 8:00 and 8:30 and you can choose which one you want during the check-in. They offered us also ride back to the Sounzan station after check-out. The facility is quite small (I guess 7 rooms), so it felt really cozy and welcoming. Some time after the dinner, both of the onsens were empty, so we had them for ourselves. Both breakfast and dinner were traditional japanese ryokan meals, there was raw fish, grilled fish, tempura fish, hot pot...and lots of other stuff. I recommend you to have lighter lunch before the arriving, because the total amount of food is large (this applies to the food in ryokan in general, so this information is for people who were not in ryokan before).
Only one of the servers seemed to speak English, but we managed. One of the onsen baths is very small, but they change them regularly, so you can wait for the larger one or book private one. I'm 190cm tall and even the largest yukata was a bit small for me, but still ok.

The breakfast was traditional Japanese. It was very very good, and there was a lot of it. We also took the dinner option which was outstanding in quality. I highly recommend taking these options especially as there aren't other options for dinner nearby.
The hotel wasn't far from a bus stop, but the walk from the bus stop to the hotel with travel luggage was complicated. It is best to go here with a car, but it is not difficult to access by the Bus J.

The staff were all very friendly and helped in any way they could. They worked very well around the language barrier and were very accommodating regarding the facilities. The gentleman that worked during dinner/breakfast was particularly helpful during mealtimes explaining the different dishes and organising times for the other meals.
The only issue we had was the comfort of the futons. This is not a criticism, however, as this is down to the different style of living offered in the Ryokan experience and was expected. It was still very nice to try a different way of living.

The ryokan was a little quaint hideaway on Hakone. The shuttle service from Sounzan station was great as I don't know how else you would get there. Loved how they have yakutas for both adults and children. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast was amazing - it doesn't seem like much but we were stuffed. The amenities at the onsen were great. It is a place for some r&r for sure. Staff were very hospitable.
The onsen was good but a little small. At most you can probably fit 3 adults. The location is also a bit harder to find so thankful that they have a shuttle service that can pick you up.

Fantastic experience with a traditional feel. Would highly recommend. They provide a pick up service from the station and 2 meals (breakfast and dinner) a great way to experience local and traditional food. The private outdoor onsens is a must if you are a couple. We did this at 7am and was a beautiful start to the day before breakfast. The free onsens are also great and we both had the male and female onsens to ourselves
The futon mattress to sleep on was not at a all comfortable just be prepared for that

The people running the ryokan are very accommodating and give exceptional service. The onsens are small but comfortable — it’s definitely worth the extra 2,000¥ to try the outdoor onsen in the morning or in the evening, the views are beautiful. The meals served for dinner and breakfast change every day and are always delicious.

The experience was great! Very nice tenants, room really big and typical, great breakfast and traditional diner. We had transportation delay and the tenants were very flexible and even picked us up at the closest station in order to be on time for the dinner
We wanted to sleep on a futon… so confort was what we choose:) but nothing negative about it

Traditional onsen with just several rooms was cozy and calm. Bath rooms were always available, with just a few people, sometimes even empty, what made our experience very private. We could also book a private bath room outside. Traditional food was great - interesting experience as well. Located not far from the ropeway station. So it was easy to get to the sulfur pits and then to the lake.

We really liked that they offered rides to Souzan or Gora stations each morning and they also picked us up from the stations. The food was amazing and delicious. The staff was really friendly to foreigners.
There was nothing that we did not like. When you email them to pick you up, sometimes it can take them 45min to respond if they are busy. Otherwise they normally answer your email within minutes.
