The location was perfect! Right by the coast, the ferry terminal for the Miyajima ferry being at the hotel's doorstep, ideal for a day trip to the island, especially for that price. The breakfast included was super handy, with a wide selection from the buffet. And it is possible to have dinner at the hotel's café too, which was convenient and good value for money. They have a limited free car park (first come first serve) but had may more space available than cars when we showed up (mid September, might be different at the peak of holidays).
Not necessarily the most modern or comfortable rooms (notably the bed which was quite hard), and you might have to bend over your window to catch a glimpse of the "view" advertised online (at least it was our case for the mountain view, cannot comment for the sea view). Having said that those are "minor" things which are easily forgotten once you are out enjoying the area and Miyajima island.

Hotel Coral is not on Miyajima Island, but it is literally right next to the ferry to and from the island. We didn't expect much after reading some reviews complaining about how old the hotel is, but we were pleasantly surprised and loved our Double with Sea View. I was expecting a small double bed but was so happy to see it was a king size bed. I requested a high floor and received it and the panoramic view of Miyajima Island was wonderful. The room was spacious and clean with two sitting chairs and table by the window. The bathroom had all new fixtures and the soaking tub has heavenly each night. The Western bed was firm but comfortable. Hotel Coral was very generous with their complimentary amenities, the best selection of items in all the places we stayed in our 5 week trip to Japan. The amenities bar in the lobby was extensive and included items I've never seen offered for free including tea without caffeine (roobois), scented bath salts, olive oil based facial wash and moisturizer, candy, and a choice of additional types of pillows as available such as memory foam. It was also nice to have bottled water replenished daily, as well as new sets of yukata and towels. We opted for the eco cleaning and received a nice voucher to use in the restaurant or gift shop, but you can also opt for daily cleaning. The included breakfast held many choices and was replenished regularly. Housemade tofu, pillowy French toast rolls and ultra moist carrot cake were favorites. A variety of breads and croissants and more. The ferry to Miyajima is right across the street and the ease of using the ferry earlier in the morning or later in the day was key to avoiding the insane crowds that descend on the island to flock to the Itsukushima Torii gate.
Some of the furnishings are older with visible wear and tear, but we didn't mind as the hotel was an incredible value for the area. Because the breakfast is served in the Cafe, there is limited seating, so they ask you to pick a time to attend to help alleviate the crowding. Still, some people had to carry their trays across the lobby to another seating are each morning. We never had to since we always chose the 6:30am seating to get an early start to Miyajima island.

Loved the size of the room! So nice to be in a big room when you are use to the small ones in Osaka and Tokyo. The buffet breakfast was also fabulous. Location is perfect as well for visiting the little island.
The only thing I can comment on is the soundproofing of the place isn’t as good as other hotels. So I could hear conversations which woke me up early. Also the curtains wasn’t as blacked out as I hoped it would be.

Little English spoken but the Reception staff were very proficient in the use of a translator app so checking in went smoothly. Room was larger than average with a comfortable bed and good aircon. Not the most up-to-date bathroom but perfectly adequate. A good selection of Japanese and Western food was available for breakfast, taken in the ground floor cafe. You can't get much closer to the ferry terminal. There are several restaurants close to the hotel but all very busy except for an Italian. We wanted Japanese so opted for the hotel's second floor restaurant which proved a wise decision as we had an excellent meal.
This hotel is not on Miyajima Island, but is next to the ferry terminal. The crossing is quick and, as we only planned to spend a few hours on the Island, it was not an issue for us but it might be if you plan to explore the Island more extensively. The hotel frontage looks more like a shop and the name (in English) is near the top of the building so not that visible from street level. We twice walked round the building, using Google maps, before spotting the sign!

The hotel is located right next to the ferry pier-seriously, just steps away. The hotel itself isn't special but it really is a great value, given the location. They were happy to keep my luggage before and after checkout, so I was able to spend time on Miyajima until sunset and go back for sunrise. While the room wasn't especially memorable, the facility was clean and the staff was friendly.
The breakfast wasn't great, but it was included, so I am not complaining at all. I had to pick a certain time for the breakfast, but that was understandable given the number of people staying there.

- excellent location! Right across from the island; with your JR pass you can keep going to the island from sunrise to sunset. - accommodating staff; first time I see staff with genuine creativity for problem solving. - ok & generous breakfast; general menu with lots of selections but you’ll get the same menu.
- a public bath overlooking the sea would have been perfect for this location. - you can detect small hint of cigarette smell due to smoking rooms in common areas. But this is the case with most Japanese hotels unless the establishment is truly non-smoking. I look forward to the day when indoor smoking is banned in Japan. - it’s aged but still functional.

Location is perfect for catching the ferry over to Miyajima, access to konbinis and the train stations were very close by too. The breakfast buffet at the café was great. Good facilities provided in the room too. Staff were all really helpful and friendly.
The decor in my room does look slightly dated and not super modern. Didn't really like how there wasn't a smaller light or bedside lamp for reading. It was only the main light in the room, or the one below the bed.

The room was clean and spacious with a great ocean view. The air-conditioner worked perfectly throughout the night. The free breakfast buffet was relatively simple but delicious and filling with a variety of Japanese and western foods to choose from. The hotel is extremely close to Miyajima Port, making it convenient for those travelling from the island at night or wanting to leave for the island early in the morning.

Spacious room overlooking the bay. Next door to the ferry for Miyajima Island and two train stations within a few minutes walk.
We were happy with our stay at the Miyajima Coral. One point to note is there are some nice small restaurants near the hotel, but most close after lunch, so important to plan for dinner!
