It is a bit isolated in the outskirts of the town, but in a walkable distance from the train station. The room was very large which we enjoyed a lot, being 4 guests ; it was also very confortable with good amenities for personal hygiene and the basics to prepare tea and store snacks ; the sea view was amazing, particularly at dawn. The onsen is superb. We didn't see staff except at arrival and departure, they were very friendly and helpful, allowing us to store our luggage extre time.

The hotel was under a renovation process so the external appearance when we arrived was a bit strange, I understand that it was also closing for a couple of days on the day we left.

Location though distance wise is not very far from train station, the walk to the hotel is not comfortable - there is no proper pavement or pedestrian walkway for a good stretch of the route and the hotel is on a slope. It may be tough for those with luggages in particular if the weather is not good. On the other hand, the hotel runs only limited shuttle service and there is hardly any taxis in the area.

Property was beautiful. Had the Japanese style room with outdoor bath. The staff was absolutely amazing. Clean and all amenities are top notch

Getting to and from the property coming from the train was pretty close but its rough to get any taxis and you would need to walk on the main road between the traffic and train tracks. On a good note they offer free shuttle service to the train station before 10am when checking out and rent out bikes that you can use to get around

Walking distance from Amanohashidate Station. Staff are very friendly as helpful. They picked us from the station (only) and offer to deliver your luggage to the station at stipulated timings. There's a lovely cosy lounge where you can have coffee and just relax or play chess! They also guided me on how to get to Ine village and back. Overall a great stay with a private hotspring right within your room!

The hotel is and old one, but we thoroughly enjoyed the retro vibe it has! Futons were very comfortable, bathroom was cleaned and had everything we needed and more. And las but not the least- private onsen we had in our room was absolutely perfect! We enjoyed it a lot as it was our first experience of this kind. The location is good, not far from the station and main attractions, and they also have shuttles in the morning to deliver you and your luggage to the station :)

The advertisement made me understand that there was a public bath and a private bath. My receipt details showed private bath. I understood that to mean we had our own private hot spring. That was not the case. I feel it was too expensive with no private Ibsen and no meals included.

helpful staff and beautiful big traditional room. we enjoyed the private onsen in our room. we upgraded our dinner set and it was okay, some hit and misses. super filling but the mister was unsatisfied due to the lack of red meat.

massage chair was meh. toilet was big but a little old. there was a drainage problem in the bathroom (quite smelly so we just shut the bathroom door) but since we were just staying for a night, we didn’t request for a change of room.

Make sure your room specifies that you have a hotspring outdoor pool. Not all rooms have them. But it is a must have. Absolutely made our trip memorable. Amazing room, everything high class but definitely the private pool was epic.

Generally, the whole hotel looks very “antique “ Japanese style but the western style room was awesome.

Everything about this hotel was well thought out. I rolled my ankle and they were able to give me some patches to help ease the pain. I think Kitanoya's staff is their best asset.

Nitpicky comment: there is a funky smell in the shower/drainage in the first floor room. Doesn't take away from the stay because you can just keep the doors closed, but something that comes with older structures/plumbing.

The food was amazing and included a lot of dishes. Very delicious. Also, we got a big room, which was very large. The location was great, but it wasn't on the river or didn't have a river view, like I thought.

Even the private bath on the top floor doesn't have an amazing view of just nature, or the scenery of the town. Our room was so big, but the outdoor Onsen bath was so small and not so luxurious (especially considering the price).
