Very traditional japanese old house, but with modern n convenient facilities. The bed, is super duper awesome! Can fell it’s quality n my brother love it too! We almost wanna ask owner where can we buy its bed. The owner is really nice n helpful, can talk fluent english, let me check in at very late night, due to I’ve missed train.

This was a delightful stay at a traditional guest house within walking distance of Takayama's historic district. The rooms were cozy, with tatami mats, comfortable futons and shogi screens, and the heating/AC kept it toasty warm. The host was friendly and I really enjoyed our conversations, especially since he was so patient with my learner-Japanese!

Getting down the steep stairs to the bathrooms overnight could be awkward.

The building and room have a traditional style that make it such a great experience to stay here. The staff were friendly, accommodating, responsive to messages, and gave great recommendations.

The advice of the landlord. It's fantastic for onsen and place to go. Good English level. They help with our luggage to the staircase.

Poor lighting and bit smallish . The washing machine did not work, not in luck. The staircase was really hard (steep and turning) like a lot of them in japan.

Fuji house is in a beautiful old building in the old town. We arrived in a snow storm to a warm welcome. The futon was very comfortable, and the facilities were fine. There is a characterful little burger joint just down the street, and lovely old interesting streets all around to explore.

The place is a little bit cold, but the bedrooms warmed up nicely.

Great location for seeing the preserved old city areas of Takayama, and for side trips to Shirakawago and Hirayu Onsen. The owner, Takashi, is fantastic - very welcoming, very helpful with good local knowledge. The guesthouse is very clean and very comfortable. Would stay here again and recommend to others!

Thin walls - you can hear people in the next room pretty clearly, so just be prepared. They offer earplugs, which would probably help! Just be conscious of the people around you and keep quiet.

The place has an old house vibe but the facilities are quite modern and it was spotless, it also has a great location: next to the old city. Takashi speaks perfect English, he's very easy to talk to, in case you forget something, everything is written down for you where you need it and his recommendations were on the spot.

Shower/toilet being small and shared not ideal,but that was all very clear before booking and reflected in the price so works out great.
