Nice ryokan with very friendly staff. Speak little English but Google Translate will get you a long way! Downstairs a whole shop with all kinds of free stuff, from socks to hair elastics, face cream, nuts, everything. Here you can also grab a yukata in your size for the onsen. The onsen consists of 4 different private onsens, where you can bathe with your partner in complete privacy. Japanese room spacious, air conditioning and mini fridge. 5 futons. Kaiseki dinner was good. Also a good sushi restaurant in the hotel's street. And bus to the national park.

Unfortunately the room had no balcony and only one western style chair. Duvets too warm (May). The onsen water was a bit too hot for us (about 43 degrees Celsius). Humming sound from outside vibrated a bit on the floor. This ryokan is a bit bigger and you can just walk around in the building with shoes on, which makes it less authentic. The nearby supermarket is closed on Mondays, the next one is a 30-minute drive away.

We spent 3 nights at this Ryokan and absolutely loved our stay here. The facility is clean, the staff are always available, and the onsens were beyond our expectations. Thank you Mikki and company for a wonderful honeymoon! The description on Booking.com is not accurate, so I will assist: Dinners consist of high-grade Wagyu and fish, and it's delicious. Do NOT miss this, it is better than anything you will find in the area. The Ryokan has 6 Onsens. 2 are public and indoors, and 4 are beautiful outdoor onsens that you may share with family and your partner. Free Sake is offered 7:30pm-9pm. The location is a bit remote but there is a large amount of nature to see and hike through. We recommend taking a car to this Ryokan and using a day to go to the Ropeway. The staff provides all information you require. Thank you again for a fantastic experience. This was amazing.

We stayed for three nights and enjoyed three sets of different dinners and breakfasts. The food was outstanding as was our room- very spacious. The private onsen was a delight at the end of a long day walking in the mountains. The staff could not have been friendlier and the premises were spotlessly clean. The location is in a quiet village on the main bus line to Shinhotaka Ropeway so has easy access to wonderful walking trails.

Completely exceeded expectations. Situated on a short road with accommodations and restaurants in quite a remote area. Despite its remote location the inside was grand luxurious. Traditional ryokan with Tatami rooms, many amenities (like snack/drinks bar). Indoor onsen was not flashy at all however always had it to ourselves. 4xprivate outdoor onsen, however nothing special and bit too dark at night. There are only maybe 20 rooms at this place, but facilities felt grand. Nice and quiet, very relaxing stay. Maybe only up to 10 rooms occupied during our stay in April. Breakfast amazed us from the setting to the service to the food. We did not choose dinner there. We used a car. Free parking Atmosphere 5/5 Service 5++/5 Room 5/5 Food 5/5 Onsen 4/5

We stayed for one night and it was lovely. The ryokan is located near the bus stop on the line from Takayama, it was very easy to be found. The staff was nice and welcoming. We also had dinner and breakfast which was both a great experience. One can taste many of the local dishes in smaller quantities so that it is possible to get the idea of how Japanese cuisine looks like and what it is based on. There are also four private outdoor onsens on the premises. These were very nice as they provide you with privacy when taking a bath. The water is kind of hot so you probably won’t be able to stay there for a long time (which is good because all the guests have the chance to take their turn). All in all, it’s been great, authentic experience.

Rooms were clean, though kind of old and there was a little bit of mold in the bathroom.

The traditional style hotel, it was an amazing japanese experience, plus the private onsen were just great.I have some food restrictions and they were very nice and accommodating, I only mentioned it once via email and I revieved all my meals prepared separately.

The property is a little run down, it could use some updating and deep cleaning. The people in the frond desk were very nice but a bit hard of communicate because they done speak English very well

Best onsen and spa experience, original Japanese style room, exceptional amenities in both the lobby and the room, excellent dinner and breakfast menu, friendly staff and professional service. Will book again for sure.

It is a pity that this Ryokan does not provide any on demand transfer service. We missed the public transport service (bus) from Matsumoto and the only alternative we had was to book a taxi which was very expensive.

Such a wonderful place. Both dinner and breakfast were absolutely lovely, and the staff is extremely kind and welcoming. It was also very easy to get a private onsen (there are 4 available), even though it works on a first come first serve basis. The amenities are also fantastic. (you can get free tea, coffee, snacks and other amenities in the lobby). You also get your own yukata which is super nice and comfy to wear. We really recommend wearing it the minute you arrive, as you might feel a bit out of place if you don’t. The location is absolutely stunning. we went by bus from Tokyo and had the most amazing views. in the morning, we went for a tiny walk in the area and it’s super cosy and beautiful during fall time.

Room was spacious and comfortable. Staff were lovely and so helpful, especially the woman on the front desk who checked us in and recommended us restaurants to go to, she even called to check they were open and booked. 4 private outdoor onsens that were amazing, especially when snowing. 10/10 stay. Would recommend visiting the restaurant called Jirocho Sushi, it’s a 6 min walk from the Ryokan with the most amazing sushi and chef called Kazu!

Very authentic Ryokan. The whole places breathes history and authenticity. Nice private onsen. We loved it.. Walking around in kimono’s thru Gizan is awesome. Room was nice, spacious and a mountain view. From Gizan you can easily travel to Kamikochi, hike all day and treat yourself in the onsen in the evening. Very rewarding.

No shower gel or shampoo in the showers, you have to get that yourself in the lobby, which comes across as a bit lazy. Bathroom is the most basic we’ve had during our trip in Japan. Breakfast was alright, not spectacular, but their traditional dining hall is unique. Staff barely speaks English but that’s the case everywhere in Japan.
