We stayed in a suite and the room was generously sized with convenient layout. Efficient heating, gets temperature up in no time. Excellent cleaning. 24/7 room service with good choice of drinks and food. There is a very nice burger joint place on ground floor. Overall good value

Slightly noisy, but that is to be expected in a location like this. There was apparently a problem with ventilation in burger joint on ground floor, so it smelled of grilled meat everywhere up to 5th floor. Did not concern us directly since we stayed on higher than that, but still had to go through it on our way in/out.

This is a wonderful hotel. We will come back. It's very pleasant and elegant and the personnel is very good and efficient. The rooms are beautiful and well designed, very comfortable. There is a very good Jazz bar on the ground floor and the very famous burger joint! The location is also perfect to visit NY.

The beds were smaller than we expected. We said so and the reception agreed to upgrade us to a junior suite versus a reasonable increase in price which was perfect for our family of four. Overall the hotel is fairly priced, just be wary that basic double beds could be below your initial expectations compared to other hotels.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Thompson! We called the hotel for some additional information about the upper stories formula. John Chen explained that this formula included several advantages, but most important: access to the lounge at the second floor. Here you can start the day enjoying a decent breakfast. During the day till mid evening you can sit down, have something to drink and eat a snack after another nice sightseeing trip! This, together with the fine atmosphere and the most friendly hotel team made our stay an extraordinary experience! The hotel is located at walking distance to the Empire State, Rockefeller, 5th av, Guggenheim, Natural History etc etc. Two subway stations at both ends of the street take you to the rest of NYC. Rooms are clean and modern, beds are good.

Fabulous location. Really loved that the hotel was so close to Central Park and many great restaurants. Easy walk to 5th Ave. We liked that the elevators were very quick and operated by simply touching a screen to say which floor we were going to. Free water and wifi were an added bonus.

I only had one complaint. When we got to the room after a long travel day my daughter went to have a shower and the robe hanging in the bathroom was wet. This indicated it had not been changed by the cleaning staff and was a used robe. We put it in with our dirty towels and we never were given a clean robe to make up for it despite a 3 day stay.

Great location close to theatres and Central Park, with hotel access on both 56th and 57th street. Nice studio suite in the upper floors. Friendly staff, nice lounge on 3rd floor with breakfast buffet in the morning when the breakfast places around are too busy, decent sized gym, live jazz during some week days.

Works are still going on in the lobby, so you need for the time being to go out of the hotel to access the gym. The Burger Joint place in the hotel was too busy and understaffed: one hour waiting standing for getting burgers is not acceptable. And no available table afterwards for sitting. Very disappointing experience, not worth the 100 dollars for three burgers and milkshakes.

My room was too dark. Lighting needs to be improved! Too expensive. I think by over $200 of what I would consider fair for a 2 bed hotel room at this great location My room with 2 Queen beds was very small Food at the restaurant was just OK but overpriced

The hotel feels high end, the location was perfect for a visit to nyc and the service was excellent.

We had a problem with the bathroom sliding door, it didn't close or open easily. Complained about it daily and although engineers did come they were unable to fix it. In any case, they didn't ignore the problem and gave us a considerable discount upon leaving after our three day visit.

Love this hotel. Always consistently good, helpful staff that didn't bat an eyelid at a last minute late checkout to take work calls. Very clean, modern and good room sizes. I think it tops many other big names in NYC.

The current prices are frankly horrific. Literally 8x more than in July. While I know demand is high around Christmas, the pricing almost (should have) scared me off.

Location, size of the room, hospitality, quality of staff, cleanliness of property was just superb. Only thing was the fitness room which understandably was under renovation, so was not what one would expect compared to everything else about the hotel. Once done, I will give this property 100 percent superb.

We were travelling with two under age children and asked for connecting rooms. Our request was accommodated. The rooms (one king and one double room) were excellent. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. Needless to say that the location of the hotel is excellent and the two entrances (on 56th and on 57th street) are very convenient
