The property is centrally located and close to the riverfront. The room was spacious and very comfortable.

Check in was a bit of a hassle. My initial room was already occupied. They gave me a key that didn’t work and it took a minute to get it replaced. Also note that if you pay via card, you get a 3% fee and they don’t offer to charge in Laotian Kip resulting in a poor exchange rate. To get the best price you need to pay in cash.

We extended our first stay by an extra two nights because we loved everything about this place and wanted to soak up just a little more luxury…please read our previous review.

Sadly during our extended stay we had an accident and broke a coffee cup that was provided in the room. It was a simple white made in China type mug. At check out the Ops Manager spoke to us and stated we had to pay, we were sure he quoted 15,000Kip, which we fine with, even though at the time we thought it unusual as we’d never encountered paying for a simple breakage like this before. When we checked out it turned out to be US$15, which we thought was completely over and above any price we’d ever paid for a simple white coffee cup…practically a third of a nights stay! We fought against this and resulted in paying 65,000Kip, still under protest. It left a really bitter taste with us. We loved the Mintra and would highly recommend staying here, just don’t break anything.

Breakfast was ok, hot dishes change every day, but could have more options. Staff are nice and helpful. Location is very good, near the night market and surrounded by restaurants.

The rooms have ants, yes we had 2 rooms but both of them had ants, very small ones but they could be on desk and your bed. If you put food on desk you will see them very soon.

Good location, near night market. Amazingly colourful funfair

Nothing really but wouldn’t recommend arrival by train - the travellers from the country who financed the China Laos railway are frankly animals

After three nights here, we added one more night for four nights total. We enjoyed our large suite. Very clean, quiet, comfortable and well furnished with a new feel to it. The buffet breakfasts offered a lot of variety of hot foods, cold foods, made to order eggs, fresh fruits and vegetables in both eastern and western tastes. We liked that they opened at 6 am. The front desk people were always available and helpful. Special thanks to Mai, who made good restaurant recommendations. There is a nice rooftop pool and fitness center where I enjoyed doing my morning yoga in a quiet space.

Small thing, but difficult to find the sweet spot to maintain the shower water temperature. It was ultra-sensitive. The recessed ceiling lighting was adequate, but some bedside table lamps would be nice for softer lighting for reading, etc. the WiFi was only fair, but manageable. Overall a good place to stay.

Highly recommend Mintra hotel! Firstly, the location could not have been better! Less than 5 minutes to the night market, river bank and park. So much to do nearby. The room was big, beautiful and clean. Cleaning staff were so generous with replenishing amenities. Random but the toilet paper and tissues were so thick and the lift smelt incredible! Every staff member I spoke to was sooo kind, friendly and helpful. Buffet Breakfast was really yummy - and you can order eggs, noodles and coffee which is made fresh and comes very quick. Good way to reduce food waste as well. The coffee and juice at breakfast were amazing. Rooftop pool is beautiful, great for tanning with plenty of seating. I ate dinner one night at the Upper Wing restaurant and had the mosh incredible chicken ceaser salad. Shoutout to Sun and his team at the restaurant they were so lovely, attentive and helpful. If I came back to Vientiane I wouldn’t even hesitate before booking Mintra again. Great value for money - Thanks for a great stay.

Wifi was occasionally patchy but all in all no complaints.

Mintra Hotel - front desk Dat was welcoming and very helpful. The location of the hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of the best part of the city. You are easy walking distance to the best restaurants and sites and a short iDrive ride from anywhere else. Staff is very helpful and professional. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Beds and pillows are very soft and comfortable. The linens are plush. Very large smart TV’s. WiFI is adequate. The shower water pressure is mediocre but enough warm water to get the soap off you. The street noise is present until about 10pm and then it magically gets quiet except for one dog that barks. All in all we give this place a thumbs up and would stay here again.

Nothing to think of

The hotel is in a perfect location to walk around Vientiane and enjoy its vibrant cafes and market's life. The rooftop pool and bar are very nice too, and the bed is very comfortable for a good night sleep. The food from their restaurant is good too and their in room dining efficient and very reasonable priced. We overall enjoyed our stay.

Some items like face towels and one tea spoon were not replaced during one of the daily cleaning routines (which we didn't care that they weren't replaced), but at check out, as the staff checked the room for damage, we had to explain to them why there were face towels and a tea spoon missing. It wasn't a big deal, but it didn't feel good to feel somehow responsible for that. I am sure that the management can look at alternative ways to sort situations like this.

This was heaven! We loved this hotel, we had a room with a small balcony, no chairs, but it was still nice to stand and enjoy the bustle of the street below! The bed and pillows were so comfortable. Great shower with lots of hot water and face cloths!! Breakfast was the best, and you could also order eggs, pho or specialty coffee, you just had to ask one of the wait staff. The gym was small but suited our needs. We did spend a full day at the pool while we were there and loved it! Location is in the centre of the city. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Nothing.

Very new and modern hotel. Roof terrace and roof pool are great after a day of sightseeing and it's very central. Good bed as well.

It lacks a bit of character and charm still (maybe because it's so new). The noise isolation to the street and also to the hallway is really really poor unfortunately. Also some of the bathroom appliances are already breaking (shower leaking, toilet seat is loose). For Laos they are really very expensive in comparison, for such a price I would expect that things are maintained better.
