The room was absolutely gorgeous. We were lucky to get an upgrade and everything was perfect: The staff was kind and helpful (giving us nice restaurant's addresses, calling a Taxi Loca for us, etc), the bed was big and comfortable, the shower had great pressure and the the bathroom had plenty of space. We did enjoy a lot the sofa and desk areas as it allowed us to work remotely at night (great WiFi all throughout). We are extremely happy with our stay at S2 Modern.

The breakfast was a buffet but maybe not as fabulous as the rest of the service.

Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Was very lucky to get an early check in after the over night train from Thailand and they helped with taxis and even a food panda delivery. They were just the best. The hotel is just outside the main centre of town. So you can walk to the action (20 mins) or a tuktuk in 5 mins. Pool very nice and the fitness centre decent enough. WiFi was strong in room and bed comfortable.

The in house laundry wasn't the best sadly was very fast though (same day). Paid 40000 per kilo and my t-shirts came back still stained. Maybe was the Cambodian soil? Will find out when wash them at home.

Staff really friendly. Room lovely and comfortable. Breakfast good. Nice vibe overall.

Noise. Maybe unfortunate with our room, but there was a club in the distance playing music till 4am, and then a building site next door that started drilling at 6am. The two hours in the middle were great, other than that it was tough going. Windows looked double glazed but not convinced they were doing their job. Location wasn't great. 20 minute walk into the main tourist area, but not particularly nice. Swimming pool was small and hardly got the sun.

A shuttle bus was provided (I think twice in the evenings) to get in comfort from the hotel to downtown Vientiane. We always walked back afterwards, which was no problem. A nice little bar next door belonging to the hotel was always good for a 'nightcap' at the end of the evening. We made use of the hotel bicycles every day to get around the city, which we preferred to walking. I have to say that all the staff on the reception and also the manager were extremely pleasant and helpful. The manager booked our train tickets to Luang Prabang for us, which was a great help. If you don't have to live downtown (or dont want to) I can recommend the S2.

Modern facilities. Excellent pool for laps and the gym equipment is great. Towels are provided for the pool area and flip flops are provided in the room that can be used by the pool. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We booked multiple taxis through them. Hotel provides shuttle bus Monday - Saturday 6pm and 7pm. Cafe provides really tasty food and beverages at cheaper prices than most cafes and pubs in the centre. Free breakfast is great quality and lots to choose from. I would book again if in Vientiane, we stayed 5 nights and our room was always cleaned and fresh towels and bedding.

Only downside is it’s a 20 minute walk into the centre but we didn’t mind the walk.

The staff were excellent, and it had a good breakfast as well as a pool and gym.In addition,it also had a free shuttle into the main town area mornings and evenings.The rooms were very spacious with a big bathroom too.

The only thing was....I know its being picky...but the room had tea....but NO milk !! I dud ask the guy on reception but he said there was no milk for the rooms.....but there was loads of fresh and powdered milk at breakfast......which begs the question....why have tea in the room in the first place and a kettle? So I bought my own milk from the shop.

The room is nice and of a good size, the wi-fi works well. One receptionist was amazing - unfortunately I forgot his name - a young man, he could speak a bit of french and he was super super friendly with us ! We arranged the taxi to the airport with the property which was nice.

The breakfast could definitely use some work - the sweet options in particular. Regarding location it is indeed far from the main attractions as the other reviews mention. It is true that there is a shuttle service, but it is not flexible in terms of drop off point which is quite annoying - even though I was alone once and asked to be dropped off a couple of minutes away by car this was not possible. A part from the nice receptionist, the rest of the staff is very inexperienced, and communicating wasn’t easy at times.

We really enjoyed our stay in the hotel the room was nice and spacious and clean, the facilities were great with both a pool and a small gym. The breakfast was good too with a good selection of both Asian and western breakfast options. The staff were by far the highlight of the hotel. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had anything we needed. Det in particular was very helpful with local recommendations and even assisted us with translation when we had to visit the local clinic.

Wonderful hotel with huge glass doors, nice lobby, antique furniture, large elevator and a splendid dining area with a library. Housekeeping does a good job keeping the hotel clean. The room was very quiet. Really nice closet with louvered doors. Open, light comes on. Close, light goes off. Two very large mirrors, and very large desk with a drawer. The rain shower with handheld combo was wonderful but one needs to be careful selecting the temperature. Breakfast had a lot of variety with something for everyone. Minu, was very personable, and also served us delicious salads for lunch. Det (Dat) was a real asset. He took time to show us and talk about places on the city map. He also talked about other interesting places to see in Laos. You could tell he is very proud of his country. He also copied our Visas for VietNam. Thongphet and Julie also spent time with us as well as copy flight information and secured a taxi for us to go to the airport. Since my wife had put money in the tip box we didn’t have money to pay for the coffee I had ordered. Thongphet paid for the coffee from his own money. I was not aware of that gift. The staff is absolutely amazing. We would rate this a 5 Star Hotel from the facility to the staff. Location was also very good.,

We liked everything.

Modern hotel with good bed equipment, a lovely breakfast area and a nice little pool to relax. It's a 10 minute walk (900 metres) to Vientiane's city centre, a tuktuk is cheap and easy to find. The room was bright and the sleeping quality really good. The receptionists speak all enough English and are always very helpful.

The bathroom does not smell well but you can close the door and leave the window open.
