This was our 2nd time visiting Secrets Akumal; we enjoyed it so much last year that we returned, bringing another couple with us, introducing them to the all-inclusive concept (they are now fans!!). Because of that, Secrets upgraded us to the Preferred Club, which has some wonderful benefits. Our room was at the back of the property, near the spa, which was perfect for us, as we love spending time at the Quiet Pool. Eli (Eliezer) was the pool concierge, and he did a fantastic job, as well servers Samuel, Jesus, Israel, and Evomm (not spelled correctly, I’m sure). The last day we had Antonio as the pool concierge, who was wonderful too. Secrets does an excellent job in training their employees - everyone is very friendly, courteous, helpful, and professional, seeing to our every want and need. The resort itself is beautiful, with wandering paths through a jungle atmosphere. All the restaurants are excellent, and the servers there are also so well trained. We enjoyed the pools and snorkeling off the beach, as there is some coral with quite a few fish. Secrets Akumal has become our favorite relaxing vacation spot!

In general the staff were excellent, going above and beyond with a few exceptions. Three pools to choose from, our the gorgeous sea. Room was large and well appointed and despite being sold as a Garden View, we had clear sight of the sea even if halfway back in the resort.

Food was average and decidely bland. We were expecting a thrill of mexican spice which was sadly lacking. Lots of focus on regional cuisine (Italian, French, Greek, etc) which many guests liked, but we found them to be shadows of what they should have been; beautifully presented but lacking the taste intensity we expected. Given the average age of guests was probably pushing 50, there was two much duff duff duff music played at the pools which seemed to be more catering for the staff's tastes than the guests.

Absolutely everything about this resort is incredible!! We were celebrating our honeymoon and it was magical spending our time in secrets Akumal. Everything is done to perfection and that’s all thanks to the amazing staff they have. We loved seeing the entertainment team everyday and getting involved in all of their activities. Max, jonas, Abraham and Gina were amazing ❤️ The food and drinks in the resort were such high quality. We loved the pizza by the pool and also loved the grill for dinner! We snorkelled with the turtles which I’d highly recommend! Amazing experience! Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so incredibly enjoyable. We didn’t stop smiling the entire trip and we have memories forever!

The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. They went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy.

The beach was ok, but had a LOT of seaweed and kids (not acceptable at an "adults only" resort. Dinner was good, but many items that we ordered were not edible. Breakfast was the best part. As I said above, the alcohol was a total joke and quite frankly insulting to anyone who knows anything about alcohol. To say it was watered down would be a HUGE understatement.

The staff and service were above and beyond! The staff attention to detail and friendliness are what hotels and resorts should all have. And secrets is by far the best in that area of hospitality.

The room is great. The resort is beautiful. The beach is great and we enjoy the ocean. All the stuffs are nice and we felt very welcomed. The food at the resort is great, there are lots of sea food options. We went snorkeling and saws lots of sea turtles with a great instructor Gaberial.

The sushi and sashimi at the japanese restaurant is not very good. At the checkin, there were sales people try to sale us the club membership and try to convince us to go to a sale pitch at the next day. We were tired and would like to go to our room first, maybe they could do this talk after we settle down at the hotel.

The service and cleanliness is excellent throughout the resort.

Upon check in, we were given the presentation of joining the "preferred" club. It was very pushy and after we politely declined, we just flat told the woman, we aren't interested! I feel like you are at a great disadvantage not being in their club. Our room was designated as a "partial ocean view". We really had to use our imagination to see any ocean at all. I informed them during booking that we were celebrating my husband's 60th birthday. Nothing special was done until I mentioned this to the concierge. VERY disappointing as we have been to other Secrets in the past and treated much better. I won't be returning.

I thought it was very pretty the restaurants were done beautifully.

We were so confused!! We got lost a LOT…. We were there for 3 nights it was impossible to get the layout… we did have the map! Not helpful !! Plz put more signs.. i swear one of them pointed in the wrong direction. At night, we wanted to go to the theater on the last night. We never knew where it was. One of your employees was so kind. She walked us to the theater, but there was no signs leading up to the theater. It was so confusing!!!!

The property was gorgeous and the layout with all three pools was incredible. Each pool had its own special feel depending on what we wanted to do each day. The koi ponds were nice and the beach was was beautiful. There were also walking trails that had Iguanas and other animals that were fun to watch. We have been to Secrets Maroma and Playa Mujeres and they are all beautiful but this property seemed to be the most romantic of the three. Snorkeling was also incredible here, you could see Stingrays, Turtles, and many tropical fish very close to the shore. The food and presentation was great, don’t skip out on desert it was always worth it. The romantic dinner on the beach was one of the highlights of our trip. The staff was incredible and we have to mention Cesar, Javier, Sergio, and Marlon. We were there for our anniversary and baby moon and they made our trip very special. The photographer Dani was also very good and captured several unforgettable memories for us. We stayed in an ocean front swim out romance master suite and it was amazing!

Secrets Akumal is hands down our favorite vacation get away spot! We've now visited the property six times and it just keeps getting better. The landscaping is gorgeous with lush vegetation and flowers which is unlike any other resort we've stayed at. The beach front is very well maintained and the team works diligently to remove any seaweed that washes in. There are three pools that accomodate everyone from the party crowd to those that want to be left alone. Our building concierges, Leidy and Jose Luis, were fantastic! They always greeted us by name and ensured we were aware of all the daily activities. The pool service was absolutely phenomenal!! Every morning when we arrived at the pool, Carrasco immediately found us and set up our chairs with plenty of towels, a table and umbrella. He always asked if there was anything we needed in our room and arranged our luggage pick up on our last day. We also loved our pool server, Orlando!! He was fantastic, friendly and always checked on us. We had multiple restaurant staff go above and beyond to ensure we had wonderful dining experiences with every meal. We'd like to recognize Daniel, Diego and Raymundo at Market Cafe; Balthazar at Seaside Cafe; Wilbert and Guatelupe at Bordeaux; Marisol at Oceana; and Martin and Patricia at El Patio. We absolutely LOVED our wine cellar dinner with Alberto, Paula, Alberto and Israel - the food was outstanding, we had wonderful conversations with all the sommeliers and the recommended wine was fantastic! I'd highly recommend The GM, Rafael Cordova, and his staff went above and beyond to ensure we felt special and appreciated! This resort has truly earned it's 5 star rating and Mr Cordova and team are ensuring they will maintain it!
