Best reception staff, best hospitality, good food, out of the world ambience, best rooftop views, rooms and dorms are exactly as you see in the pictures (yes, I stayed in both) ! Sorry if my write up seems like a paid review, but I absolutely loved everything about this place , so , not holding myself back 😃

Hostel will be closed at 11 pm. So no noice after 11pm

They take extra money than booking.com price. And 1000 NPR deposit.That's kinda drama actually. So change some extra currency from airport and keep.International credit card also won't work sometimes.a then in booking.com you choose your room with hill view n all. There you get what ever available 😄😄. So don't expect you will get what you want. They have good paying guest than us. That's all

The staff is always very friendly 🤍🍃- the fried momos are delicious🤤

I went to the restaurant that has a view of the temple several times and one of them I asked for a soda with lemon and I asked for it to be sugar-free, but they brought me lemonade with sugar, I asked for it to be changed and in the end they charged me for it on the bill despite pointing out the error. It's not the end of the world, but I didn't think it was fair, and they don't tell you much, just that you pay. They don't have an area to meditate or do physical activity, but in the photos there seems to be 🥹🥲

The hostel is good in terms of amenities and location. The staff were good and responsive.

I missed the social vibe in this hostel. I usually stay in a hostel to connect with fellow travellers and that happens mostly at a common place where people sit, chill, booze and chat. This was completely missing in this hostel as they have a very small common area where you will hardly find any person. And they don't allow outside liquor which I think should not happen in any hostel. Hostels are usually preferred by travellers on a tight budget.

I stayed 12 days altogether at Flock Hostel, on 3 separate periods through April-May, in a 4 bed, 6 bed and 10 bed ladies dorm. It was like a home away from home, in a great location, very safe, with a dedicated staff, from reception to travel desk, to restaurant, cleaning and general services personnel. Kudos, and keep it up! 👏👏👏

Just a few suggestions like: (1) putting a mirror in the 4 ladies dorm (not a detail after all, for LADIES!) (2) creating a hanging space for small, occasional washing (when you're not back from a trek with LOADS of worn clothes to send to laundry service) rather than have these small items hanging on the balcony railings on the 4th floor, with the cleaning ladies' rags (not a pretty sight!)

The restaurant, The food, F&B staff and staff at reception were amazing.

In rooms they kept kettle and only black coffee sachets and 3 in 1 coffee mix. No tea bags no milk. For tea lover there is nothing. When asked housekeeping to provide some tea they got me 2 tea bags and suggested I drink black tea. Why??? I am not complaining for a small thing. But attention to details n few things could make this place really great. I could stay in a 3-4* hotel with the price i paid for this place. But I wanted to experience staying in a hostel.

We stayed several times at Flock Hostel over a 1 month period while visiting Nepal. We had 4 double rooms over this time, and 3/4 had lovely views and were very comfortable and clean. The hostel is central to Thamel area, so great for accessing this neighbourhood and the Tourist Bus Stop. The hostel kept our luggage secure when we travelled out of town. The breakfast and food/service was all very good. Flock helped organise a great tour of Kathmandu and with bus transport to Pokhara.

The last room we stayed in seemed incomplete with half built bathroom cabinets and we had to keep the curtains closed due to looking out onto a work passage-way, so felt not private/comfortable.

This place made my stay in Kathmandu unforgettable, and I am really grateful for everyone that made it possible. The staff was great, helping me with my postcards and with getting around the city using public transport. The building houses two restaurants, one with live music now and then, both offering delicious food, large breakfasts and views over the valley from the top storey. The rooms were cleaned daily, there were hot showers (a first for me in weeks), the beds had privacy curtains, personal lights and charging ports. Most importantly, I met some lovely people in Flock Hostel, people with engaging stories, continuous laughter and unending enthousiasm to explore the world. I hope to spend more time here soon!

It sounds impossible, but I would dare to describe my stay here is nearing perfection.

The beds are very comfortable, and the temperature can be adjusted inside the room. The restaurant/bar has really good food at reasonable prices. Location is excellent, and the rooftop view is quite nice. Not sure how the cost compares to other options, but I found it to be good value. Met several inspiring people here :) The hostel has plenty of spaces that allow for comfortable transitions between communal vibes and more private moments.

Wifi is a bit inconsistent inside the room and the shower/toilets area can be a little bit cozier.

I spent 32 nights in this wonderful and quiet accommodation. On the edge of the crazy and noisy Thamel this is a ideal spot to relax. A few highlights to be mentioned: free drinking water stations (filtered), warm and very clean showers (very rare in Nepal) and a cosy common room in the 4th floor (there is also a little working space). The employees are very polite and helpful. Laundry service is available, you can book trekking tours very easily and the co-workers can organise bus-tickets to Pokhara etc. The restaurant is very nice as well (compared to Nepalese restaurants a bit expensive, but the atmosphere is really cool) and 2 days before I left, they started a bereakfast buffet at the roof-restaurant) which was absolutely amazing. Next to the roof-restaurant, you can use a nice yoga room, which I did almost every day. I slept in a 8-bed-dorm which was very clean, had its own bathroom and every single bed was combined with enough storage and privacy (thick curtains). I would definitely come back as soon as I can. I would recommend this luxurious hostel for everyone, who wants to escape from the effervescent city and refill their “battery of energy” to enjoy the amazing country every single day.

I have to remove one little point out of 10, because the live music on Friday and Saturday evenings was a little bit too loud.
