Located in a very convenient location, making it very easy to walk around Thamel. We stayed in the dorm and it was clean, had curtains which was a bonus and unexpected, linen was clean/comfortable and had lockers. The staff are super warm and friendly and always there to help you if you need. Communication was efficient and fast if needed via whatsapp. Luggage storage is available as well as 24/7 tea and coffee in the foyer. Would recommend for a stay in Thamel- however if your are looking for a more social hostel this may not be what you are looking for.

- There is only 1 shower between the 2 dorms (12 people) which if full i could see as a problem however we had no issues - Shower is large as it used to be 2 however the shower head that is currently there is quite poor, i ended up having to use the spout tap to rinse my hair as the pressure was not strong enough. - There is a small seating areas outside of dorms which is great unfortunately however it is a designated smoking area which brings the smell into the dorm rooms, not ideal for us non smokers- would recommend limiting smoking to the roof top.

Probably the best place we stayed during our whole time in Nepal. - very clean room, bedding looked obviously fresh and clean, bathroom was also clean - good facilities provided such as AC which also worked as a heater, plugs right by the bed, TV, really good wifi - location of hotel is right in the mix of thamel - staff were friendly and really nice people - hot water was available 24/7 this was a personal highlight after struggling with mostly cold showers throughout Nepal to be able to get hot water at all times was just brilliant

Flying Yak is absolutely wonderful! Thank you Raj, Santosh, Ravindra, and Vikas for your kindness during our stay in Thamel. Flying Yak is clean, in a fantastic location, and has staff that is always willing to and ready to help. Loved sitting on the roof and watching the sunset, and appreciated the $10 pickup from the airport as well. I look forward to returning to Kathmandu and staying at this fabulous hotel. Plus, they’ll store your gear for no cost when you’re out trekking!

This place is great. I travel alone but end up with a two-twin bedroom. The room is super clean, the bed is soft but not too soft, there is no weird smell, and the bathroom is tiny but with nice hot water shower. Everything just works well. The only thing that may be improved is wifi. It might be on/off sometimes. But I managed to have a 1-hr Zoom meeting with my colleague in NYC, so I guess it's not too bad. The location is also nice. It's in Thamel and within walking distance to shops and restaurants, and also Durbar Square (15 mins). The staff are amazing. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, especially Raj. I met him when I checked in, and he immediately helped me arrange my trips for the next few days. With his help, I had a wonderful tour the next day with Jaya (hope I spell his name right). Jaya is from the local and he is passionate about Nepal's history, religion, and people. High recommended. I recommend this place to people who are looking for a safe, relaxed, and low-key place to stay in Thamel. I would stay here again the next time I visit Kathmandu.

Flying Yak Kathmandu and the team was an amazing choice for our first Nepal visit. The hotel is located in Thamel, quarter with plenty of places to eat, drink and shop. Also ca 20 minutes from the airport. The staff is super friendly and super helpful - we arranged guide around Kathmandu, taxi back to airport, asked questions about Kathmandu, Nepal… They speak very good English and communicate promptly. The place is very clean, rooms are equipped with all you need and are also clean and comfortable. The price is also very fair for what you get. We will gladly come back one day. 🙏🏔️Thank you!

The staff were very helpful and communicative from the date of our booking. We were met at the airport (for a charge, but well worth it when arriving in a new country). Santos who works at the desk was especially helpful during our stay with local tips and information. We are in Nepal for an EBC trek and the hotel is keeping some of our extra luggage that we didn’t need for the trek as we are also staying there again upon our return. They also arranged our taxi for our (very) early morning flight to Lukla. Highly recommended!

Good price for the location and facilities. They’re very reliable and provide trekking tours that we ended up enjoying so much. The room was smaller than what it looks like in the picture but very clean and has basic things you need. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and we thank the staff for helping us book the things we need for our trip in Nepal :)

The location can't be beat. In the heart of Thamel, it's close to everything you'll be on the hunt for - good food, shopping, nightlife, trekking companies galore, and of course the leap pad to all of the historic sites you're looking for. I'd gotten the private room as a last night splurge, so haven't tried the shared rooms. My experience was pretty posh in comparison to what I'd been experiencing. But for the price, it still was within budget and provided everything I needed for my last day in Nepal. Side note - very strongly suggest a visit to Avocado Cafe right next door - was delicious!

The hotel is located at the heart of the city and is a great place to stay. The manager and staff are very hospitable and they will take care of all your needs. I checked in at very odd hours however the guy at the front desk helped us to check in smoothly and was very supportive. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Kathmandu.

The hotel doesn't have parking but they would definitely support you with securing a space in nearby Parkings

it was an pleasure stay in the Flying Yak, i actually stayed there for one full Week. they have unlimited free Coffee and Tea and the taste is really good. Also free Water refill. The WiFi is super fast and stable. Its clean and the stuff there is super helpful and friendly.

The water pressure of the shower and sink is kinda low, but thats all i have to complain about.
