I rated this a 10 as I read previous reviews and they complained about noise or rubbish in the street and marked the hotel down for that. The hotel is in a very busy Main Street so is very noisy no matter what time of day. The welcome was amazing lovely staff. We had room 1 small and basic most importantly clean so no complaints. Heating had to have it on full to warm the whole room but it did just that. I would stay again.

The one thing just for people to be careful of is in room 1 there is a small safe I think fixed to the floor by the window (there is another safe in the room) so when you get out of bed be careful not to hit your foot on it.

City centre location. The room was small with a private shower room - but comfortable enough for one person for a short stay. It met my expectations from the online description and my previous experience of similar hotels in the city.

The booking showed check-out as 12.00 but on arrival I was told it was 11:00. I asked about leaving a small bag after checking out and was told this would be possible. However, when leaving I was shown a corner of the bar area to leave my bag which was not secure in any way, so I chose to take my bag with me. Neither of these items are a big issue, but something to be aware of.

It is very, very central and only a few minutes walk from the train station. My room was small but ok for just one night for me. It’s not 5* luxury but comfortable with all you need for a good stay. The property has a lot of Dutch character (= narrow steep stairs - be prepared for this!)

It’s easy to complain but really this hotel offers a comfortable, clean, basic room with en-suite shower room at a reasonable (for location) price so I can’t say there is anything I didn’t like.

Fantastic location right in the centre of everything. Easy walk of a few minutes to both the red light district and the train station, lots of options around for bars and restaurants. Very well priced. Very friendly and welcoming staff, and excellent communication via the website in the lead up to our arrival.

There was some work going on to the building, which obviously can't be helped and shouldn't be an issue for future guests, but waking up to workmen blasting their radio a window width away from you isn't ideal.

This property is right in the middle of red light district, the location is brilliant. rooms are basic but clean enough.

the stairs going into the apartment are very narrow which is what most of the stairs are like in Amsterdam. There is no iron in the room. The apartment itself was quite hard to find I think that was mainly because we were looking for a big signage so you need to keep your eye out or you will walk past the door multiple times like we did.

Location was great, central to everything!! Comfy beds to stay in and lovely staff!😊

Could hear a lot of the street noise/night life in the evening but was to be expected when staying in a central area. Broken toilet seat and bathroom door but didn’t really affect the use.

Excellent location! Short walk to Amsterdam Central Train Station and Red Light District. We stayed on the very top level of the hotel. Windows opened up to allow air flow and could look down onto the street. There were three single beds in the room however we only booked for two people so did not need the extra bed. Check in/check out was super easy. The entrance to the hotel is not in the bar it is right next to it so only people staying at the hotel can enter the door with a swipe card. Hotel seemed quite safe. We loved our host Betty, she was very friendly and made us feel welcome! Thank you for having us.

Steps to the top floor are very steep however this is just the way the houses/hotels are built. We had backpacks so wasn’t an issue however if you have a suitcase this would be quite difficult to get to the top. Bathroom was very tiny. Street noise was loud.

Central location, large room, private bathroom, very comfortable bed (slept really well)

A bit noisy but I guess you expect this in the centre of a city. It didn’t stop me sleeping. Smoking is not allowed in the rooms (that’s ok as I don’t smoke) but there was always a strong smell of smoking in the bathroom - probably due to the ventilation system from the bar below.

Get an Exceptional Service from Front Desk Receptionist Miss Betty She is an Excellent Human being , Exceeded my Expectations She assist me in every possible way to make my stay memorable. Its a perfect location if you want to be near to Attractions and most important Centraal Station is in Walkable distance with all the Cafes and Restaurants around. Once again Thanks to all staff Of Hotel 55 especially Miss Betty and Mr Tommy..

Just one thing you need to be careful if you have big backpacks or huge luggages while taking the stairs as the Steps is very small and hard to keep full feet with shoes.

The property is right in the middle of bars and restaurants step outside the door and enjoy relaxing and exploring . The property is 5 mins walk to the main train station Staff were friendly and helpful which was great . Beds very comfortable with fresh towels supplied every day

We as a couple had no complaints but if you have heavy luggage there are stairs to your room no lift. Bring ear plugs as Amsterdam is a city that never sleeps
