Very prime location

The bar and lounge area are really cool. The decor and furnishings everywhere and in the studio were pleasant. Sound proofing was reasonable. The separation of the double bed area from the kitchenette and sofa bed gave a little privacy.

No privacy for using wash basin and getting in and out of the shower! A partition of some kind would be better. The sofa bed was not comfortable. I had to ask for a saucepan as there was only a frying pan in the kitchenette. Another shelf in kitchen area would have allowed for more usable work surface.

I was celebrating an anniversary, and the hotel went above and beyond to prepare a truly delightful surprise for us upon our arrival. I was genuinely touched by their kindness, willingness to make our stay special, and the overall pleasant demeanor of the staff. Their efforts exceeded my expectations. The breakfast, while simple and offering a fairly good variety of choices, could have been improved with more meat options.

I was extremely satisfied with my choice and can honestly say that I have absolutely no complaints regarding the hotel. Every aspect of my stay exceeded my expectations, from the quality of the accommodations to the attentive service provided by the staff. The hotel went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience, and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I would gladly choose this hotel again and highly recommend it to others. The location couldn't be better - right in the heart of Rotterdam, near all major tram and metro lines.

There were large and beautiful common spaces for working, chilling and eating, well equipped with games, different small rooms, and charging spots. The entire area's design was so nice that we often spent our evenings there. Super friendly and helpful staff. Some are chattier than others, but they're all so pleasant. I had a very smooth experience upgrading from my pod room to a normal double room.

My original room before the upgrade was a pod with shared bathrooms. The pod is very small and really only good for sleeping. I guess it isn't a problem since you can always lounge around downstairs in the amazing common spaces.

Great Hotel in the middle of the Centre. Staff is helpfull & superfriendly. Entrance has a bar/restaurant look & feel & is quite cosy. Checking in & out can be done electronically with programmable nfc keycards. Superhandy. Rooms are tidy & clean. Matrasses are great. Wifi & Chromecast is available. Breakfast was good. Menu is 90% vegetarian. Food is sourced locally. They take in account the footprint of guests & collab with several organisations to find creative solutions for reducing waste. So if you like to travel and care about the environment you should consider this place for a visit/stay...

an option to turn off the heat/airco would be preferable

Great central location, near the Museum Park and very close to lots of the popular restaurants and bars. Breakfast was excellent with lots of options. I was very happy that there were good options for vegans including over night oats, muesli with yoghurt, houmous and salad bagel, blueberry muffin, vegan sausage roll, fresh fruit, and selection of fruit juices and hot drinks, etc Staff were friendly and very helpful and I was really impressed that when I asked one of the breakfast staff about a particular item they asked for it to be made up especially for me. The reception area, bar and breakfast area were welcoming and the hotel generally had a relaxed, laidback atmosphere.

I didn't like the open plan design of the bedroom. The toilet was in a separate cubicle with a door but the sink and shower were in the bedroom itself with only an opaque glass partition separating the shower from the rest of the bedroom. Also not enough clothes hangers.

First we have booked The Pod, but the 6m2 room was inappropriate and too tiny for our stay over three days. So the staff was very friendly to give us for an additional fee another hotel room (The Usual), which looked brand new, nice designed and was comfortable. The breakfast is a bit unusual and not like a classical buffet. Nevertheless it was very tasty and had lots of vegetarian and vegan options.

The Usual Rotterdam offers coworking spaces, so the sitting area is mixed with tourist guests and working guests. That made it a bit difficult for us to find a nice breakfast place. And there is always kind of working vibe which can be a bit less cozy for travelers.

Nice public spaces, lots of places to sit & read, have a drink or work, including some nice art/design books. Our cosy double on the 5th fl was great: really interesting design (like the little light that came on in the night when I got up for the loo), great bed and pillows, clever storage, nice lighting, good shower, huge tv 😬 effective curtains, couldn’t hear guest or hotel noise

Not MAD about the location, on busy Westblaak, hard to ignore the traffic noise and immediate surroundings we thought were a bit grotty, compared to where we’ve stayed before. Would have had breakfast, but it seemed rather expensive, so we just had coffee (too small though!). Service quite slow ☹️ Staff we spoke to were young, friendly and charming, but not sure whether they all had local knowledge. We couldn’t work out tram tickets and needed a bit of help..

The amenities make this hotel completely stand out. The downstairs spaces to work, read, have a drink, or meet with friends are lovely. There is a large yoga room for personal workouts and the bike rental was excellent with fair prices. They were able to check me in early which was a treat but they also have locker storage available. The room has a great set up and the space felt very nice with multipurpose furniture.

The listing on Booking.com showed the hostel pod-rooms first so I had initially missed that there were private rooms available.

The atmosphere in the lounge was just lovely, food was creative, and I really appreciate how it seems that the hotel really walks the talk about sustainability credentials: making eco-simplicity elegant and attractive, rather than shoving wasteful extras at the customer. For example, offering small batches of very diverse food by breakfast, minimising the risk of food waste, but also not hesitating to go extra where it mattered: thoughtful setup of free buffet for watching the football championships and lemonades also free of charge all day long, made me feel truly "hosted" by humans, not just "stored for the night".

A couple quick fixes to add to make my stay complete would be: to make one or two hangers available in the pod for hanging the clothes, a choice of fresh veggies with breakfast (at the moment those are available as delicious sandwiches but not e.g. to add a few chunks of tomato and chives to scrambled egg) and maybe a bit more instruction on where to check in and when to pay ;) But these are all minor! I'm definitely coming back the next time I'm in the area.
