I cannot say enough about how helpful the front office staff was. From offering to hold onto our car keys while we went on the heli-hike (which the weather ultimately didn't allow us to go), to giving us advice on the problematic road conditions for the next leg of our trip, they went out of their way to make sure our stay was convenient. And the location rocked! They're right across the street from the glacier guides. A very short walk to the main street where all the restaurants are. The room was comfortable and clean. Definitely would stay here, again.

Greeted by the owners when arrived, gave us the keys - then on top of that as we were heading to Queenstown the following day- maps, and a list of all the best stops for photos/places of interest. That is amazing. They were a lovely couple and the motel was presented beautifully - can park right at the door to unload, comfortable rooms, cute kitchenette well stocked with crockery and utensils, overall beautifully presented. Excellent location. We will definitely come back

I should have booked more nights!

Location was fantastic. Studio room was large, airy and comfortable. Kitchen area could have been slightly better equipped, there was literally two of everything. But, we managed. Loved the peace and tranquility of the place. Great value for money

Minor touches to the cleaning and room inspection, we found a large piece of broken wine glass behind one of our bedside cabinets? But overall pretty good. Did not like the notice posted in the kitchen area about not cooking certain foods including fish, curries, onions and garlic due to the possibility of enhanced smells, coupled with the associated threat of extra charges for any additional cleaning. Unnecessary! If you are providing a kitchen you have to accept that people will cook in there. As did we.

Well located, within easy walking distance to most things in Franz Josef/ Waiu. The rooms were clean and relatively well laid out. The heating worked very effectively.

The kitchen is minute and the smoke alarm very sensitive. Toast triggered it, even though the smoking was minimal, but it might have been added to by the steam from the bathroom door. The vague smell of damp in the room. But it was not lack of cleanliness that caused this, it is probably the fact that the weather is not conducive to a drier air in the rooms. I do wish that heavy quilts/ duvets were not the preference. We were too hot without the cover and too cold with just a sheet. A lighter cover would have been my preference, but this was my complaint throughout New Zealand, not just at this venue.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The lights, heating and the TV were on when we arrived, which was lovely. Car parking was great, beside the room. We were told about places to eat when we arrived. Communication before we arrived was really helpful.

The only thing I had a problem with were the pillows, flat and uncomfortable, but I'm pretty fussy when it comes to pillows, and I didn't ask if they had any other pillows available. Mainly because I went to bed after 11pm and didn't want to bother the hosts.

My wife and I were very happy with our stay at 58 OnCron… (what a weird name). It was a bit ”classier” than our usual kiwi motel booking – we tend to go for the basic offerings, but we were late booking in Franz Josef, so we ended up at 58 OnCron. We ate dinner at a restaurant so didn’t have an opportunity to evaluate the kitchen aspects. We didn’t watch any TV, so can’t comment on that either. Internet was fine. And overall, the place seemed to be very well presented, comfortable, pleasant. Nothing to complain about at all.

Friendly and comfortable stay. Special touches of service like sanitised remote controls in a bag, the host giving you a map and explaining the surrounds, fly spray in the cupboard, spare tissue box, some windows had fly screen. Beautifully surrounded by mountains, with everything you may need.

The bathroom fan turned on the heater light. It was warm enough so would like to use fan on its own when needed.

Stayed 2 nights, excellent location close to everything in Franz Josef. Host very welcoming and pleasant, suggested restaurants etc. Very clean and good standard for a motel.

Thought it was a 2 bedroom apartment (2 bedrooms + living) , but only 1 bedroom with second main bed in the living area.

Our studio was clean, comfortable, and spacious. With just two of us in a two-bedroom studio, we had plenty of room to spread out our suitcases and still have furniture to sit on and room to walk around. The kitchenette had everything we needed in terms of plates and cups and silverware. Both the kitchen and the bathroom were recently updated and very nice. The owners could not have been friendlier. They took the time and effort to literally walk us to our unit, despite the hurricane force rain and wind at the time of our arrival. The hotel was very quiet, while still being convenient to the restaurants and shops on the main road.

The location of 58 on Cron was perfect! An easy walk into town for dinner followed by a safe walk around town, then after dark a walk into the forest to find glow worms! The rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious with everything you needed for a great stay!

The only thing that we could suggest is some towel rails in the bathroom. There’s no where to hang your towels after use. Minor detail though.
