It was clean, and had everything we needed. The location was good. The viewing deck was nice to watch the stars.

Firstly on arrival I was surprised we were up a flight of stairs and on the upper floor of the house . No prior warning was given of this and not easy for old knees. Secondly on arrival we were met with a construction sight of the lower level and another cabin being built adjacent to ours. It was noisy and shattered the peaceful area we had been looking forward to. The noisy work went on till 7:30 pm and began again before 8 next morning. The mess of lumber etc also made it difficult to turn around the car. A polite heads up and apology of what we were heading in to would have been appreciated. There was also a broken downpipe that made a loud dripping sound for hours after it rained, making it hard to sleep.

OMG the beds were the most comfortable beds 🛌 we have had our whole trip. The location is fantastic and walking distance to the shepherds church ⛪️ each room had it own tv and heat pump. We'll equipped kitchen. We had the stargazer cabin with a spa pool which was a well earned treat after our drive.

There is a walking track by spa pool so might be nice to have one of those brush roll out fence things from Mitre 10 just for a little more privacy during the day when people are walking the track. Mind you everyone that went past said hello 👋 and at night there was no one.

Our host Steve was friendly and welcoming. We stayed at the Rowan Cottage which was cute and quaint and met our needs. Adequate heating was supplied but there were no electric blankets so we were glad we brought hot water bottles with us for an Easter stay as the weather was cooling. Quiet, private and beautiful setting amongst the autumn trees. I stayed in one of the sleepouts and my friend stayed inside the house in the queen room. We found the beds comfortable and the sheets were very clean, plenty of duvets and extra blankets. We felt safe and secure. Well set up kitchen made cooking at home a breeze. Not the Ritz but would definitely stay again as best value for money in Lake Tekapo and so close to the attractions. We were travelling on a budget so it was perfect for us.

Shower curtain was a bit mouldy could use a wash or replace. The chicken wire nailed to the outdoor decks was obviously to provide grip and avoid slipping, but was coming loose in places and this could potentially be a hazard for people with limited balance or mobility issues or elderly folk.

Rustic charm and a renovator’s delight (in a nice way). It felt warm and cosy, and very much suited our family group of eight, ages 5-73 years. Very close to the lake and amenities but secluded behind trees. Steve said that the cottage was one of the first buildings built at Lake Tekapo. The hot spring pools were wonderful, the view from Mount John Observatory phenomenal, the vista brought a smile to your face. Plenty of walks available. You can walk or drive to the Mount John lookout. Also a reasonably close drive to Mt Cook walking track.

This was not a (didn’t like), but some microwaveable casserole dishes would be handy.

The location was perfect. We felt like home immediately upon entering. The breeze from the trees and plants around our cottage was cool. It was so peaceful and quiet at night and the stars were clearly visible in the sky. Our cottage had everything we needed. We booked Alexandra which has two small sleepouts (each one can accommodate 2 guests) apart from the main house which can sleep 3 guests. We didn't require to use the other one because of our kids' ages but we felt the luxury of the space just for the 4 of us. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly. They even washed & dried our laundry free of charge. This was one of the best accommodations we had on our 25 days south island road trip. We would definitely stay here again.

Booking for just one night. I was trying to book another night but they're already fully booked.

There were nice flowers all around the property. Very serene and peaceful surroundings. Very short walk to the Church of Good Shepherd

The pillows were a little soft. The fridge was very small. I could not even put a wine bottle standing up and no compartment to put a tub of ice cream. I had to put the ice cream in the owner's fridge. Also for price paid, I would have expected the washing machine and dryer to be provided inside the cottage, instead it was inside the owner's shed or property which means you have to carry the laundry to and from your property. To manage traveler's expectations when booking this property, it should state that the washing machine and dryer is shared and only available till 9pm (or when the owner goes to bed).

Great accomodation! Very private, beautiful, has everything you need. The host was very friendly and honest. Great location for exploring Tekapo. Very near the church which is always swarming with tourists and their selfie sticks (at this place you can visit it at night by walking less than 5min and avoid all the crowds). We had a wonderful stay and walk around Tekapo. We didn't need to use our rental car since everything is reachable by walking + the parking at the accommodation is safe! Everything met our expectations. The place is worth the price!

Great location, just within minutes walk to Tekapo center, even closer to the lake & church. 2 bedrooms each with its own bathroom, and each has its own door to the the balcony so we can enter and leave the cottage without disturbing the rest.

The curtains don't really block much light. Wifi was quite unstable.

Loved the quirky Cottage #4 and it’s mishmash of vintage furniture. Beds were very comfy and the little deck was great, with a lovely garden view. Super close to town and the lake & was immaculately clean. Host were so friendly and had the heat on in the Cottage for us when we arrived late after our flight to Christchurch was delayed. Perfect spot to base ourselves for my husband to fish the canals

Only complaint would be the cottage had abit of a musty smell when we 1st arrived, but quickly disappeared when we opened the doors and windows for half an hour.

The cottages are located conveniently to the Church of the Good Shepherd (a short walk) and not far from the town shopping center and other attractions (still walkable). The cottages are older buildings but kept in good condition, they are warm and comfortable with good heating and a small kitchenette with stove, microwave, and fridge. For summer visits, there is a deck and the cottage is set within a garden. Parking was available for two cars and was in a quiet locality.

The cottage was perfectly acceptable for short or longer stays; however, I was only there for one night. It's close enough to town but not too close so if the weather was inclement a car would be needed to go to the shops.
