This is located in a super convienient location with close distance to mount cook national park. We later upgraded to a self contained room, even though we initially booked a one with shared facilities, and self contained cabin had great facilities including kitchen and bathroom. Staff were super helpful.
From the description in booking.com, we thought bathrooms for cabin with shared facilities were located in same building. It was never mentioned that it was in a seperate building where we have to walk outside to use bathroom. Because of this, we decided to upgrade during check in time, which cost us extra.

Located very close to Mount Cook and Lake Pukaki, you can easily access all the spots within 30 mins distance. The park has decent family units with all the necessary facilities. The view of Mount cook in the morning from the room was excellent.
The unit was a bit too small for a family of 5. We didn't have much space to even unpack our bags and keep stuff as there was only a small centre table. The kitchen was quite small too and cooking with more than 1 person was tough. The unit didn't have parking next to the unit as there were just bushes in front. So we had to park away from our unit and had to bring stuff back and forth from there which was a major inconvenience.

The room was simple but nice with a comfortable bed. The heating was good as it was a very cold night. Not too far to go to the showers which when I visited was clean. Enjoyed the kitchen and dinning facilities which was inviting and with a raging fire was perfect. The view from the dining room looking up the valley to Mt. Cook is unmatched. I had a coffee from the Café from an American guy which was the best I have ever had. I'm sure it was Aimee who was a real treat at reception but all of the staff were so engaging. Give them all a nod for being top quality folks.
That we had to leave.

I stayed at Glentanner overnight before heading into Mt Cook NP for some hiking. I stayed in a dorm room but the property has a great range of amenities. The room had its own sink and toilet. Beds were comfortable. The common lounge and kitchen area was very large and was great for preparing and storing food. The views over Aoraki/Mt Cook are incredible!
A towel is included with a dorm room but I wasnt offered one at check-in and assumed there would be one in my room (which there wasn't), so had to head back to reception later which was annoying. Fridges were very full but the property was fully booked so I dont think this is unexepected, and I still found space for my food.

The unit was comfortable and adequate for a night or two. The room, although warm and well equiped, is quite dated and could do with some TLC. The scenery is absolutely stunning, BUT it is extremely over priced which of course is to be expected in a monopoly situation. Make sure you shop before heading to the mountain, if you intend self catering as you can't even buy bread anywhere. There is a cafe at the park but closes at 4pm so be prepared....All the staff were really lovely
The price mainly, but it would be handy if there was a small convenience store SOMEWHERE on the mountain.

The frontline staff were so friendly, helpful, and welcoming, including the cafe people (thank you for our toast) they all make it a great place. The cleaning staff were like magic fairies in the late morning, they did such a thorough job. The facilities were great, even though it was quite busy, there was enough space to be in the kitchen all at once, and enough cutlery/cookware etc to go round. I would like to buy you some new teatowels though, ones that dry. The showers were clean with great water pressure. The fire in the dining room....oh what a treat that was! I will definitely be back to Glentanner, and highly recommend it to others, you will not regret your choice. Looking forward to coming back in warmer months, see you then team!
Nothing. As mentioned before, the teatowels, but I'm probably just fussy

We stayed in their cabins (they also have RV park and camping). There is a glass sliding door for entry, and they are all facing Mount Cook. We were lucky and had a fabulous, unobstructed view of the mountain. Their beds are surprisingly comfortable. The cabin was far less expensive than staying in Mount Cook Village, and it’s only about a 11-13 minute drive to get to the village from there.
Cabin is a bit small, but I imagine it would be perfectly comfortable if you only have two people per room (we didn’t but that’s our problem).

Fantastic mountain views all around the property and there's direct access to the edge of the lake. Stayed in the dorm for 2 nights and got the upper bunk bed by the window, it was such a treat to wake up to this amazing view each morning. Great to have a toilet in the dorm too and not have to go outside in the cold especially at night.
As most people have mentioned in their reviews, the kitchen/dining area is always very busy during meal times. I'd suggest using it earlier or later to avoid the crowds. Ventilation is also poor in the kitchen, my clothes smelled really bad after 15 minutes in the lounge (didn't even cook). Mattress was way too soft, I could feel the base of the bed.

Was a great location, easy to find, lovely cafe attached to office. Easy check in and friendly. Backpackers accomodation was great set up
I had a top Bunk and the mattress was to squished down in the centre so you lay on the Bunk bed boards which was hard, but I did have a good blanked that I managed to lay in the middle to make it more comfy as the room was pretty warm during the night. I did notice the bottom Bunk bed mattresses where alot better and comfy

The location was a great base for exploring Mt. Cook's Hooker Valley Track. Lake Pukaki water levels were low when we were there which meant that the lake bottom was exposed - which was actually very cool. A 15 minute walk down a trail to the lake from the property lead you to the lake bottom - it felt like you were walking on Mars - very cool.
We wanted to go outside to look at the stars -but here were thousands of flies swarming. They were attracted to the porch light that was on at the unity nextdoor - which was not occupied. We made a mad dash for it but it was wild seeing that many flies. Not a deal break, but just a heads up that you are in a pretty remote area.
