Dorms with good amount of privacy thanks to curtains Central location

There was one long term guest in our room (bed 22 D) who was bothering. He came home late and started singing in the dorm the middle of the night. Staff at reception seemed to be aware of him but not taking any steps to kick him out of the hostel...

The room was a cozy size but really liked that the bed had a curtain by the bed to have some privacy in the dorm room and some power sockets yo charge my phone/computer. The common room was really spacious and had plenty of space for you to enjoy with others or by yourself. Also, the hostel Is right in the heart of the city so it’s a perfect location to everything!

You can hear the guests in the adjacent room quite clearly, which was a bit distracting when trying to sleep/rest. It would be great to have a hand towel in the toilet too.

Loved that it was right in town, modern facilities, check in was quick, no bond required, shared kitchen was well equipped, outside dining area was relaxing, showers had good pressure beds were comfy and private, I had a bunk bed in a 2 dorm with private bathroom, had curtains to pull across for privacy, lamp shelves and plugs in your sleeping area. Provided with sheeting, toilet paper, shower wash, had wash and dry facilities for laundry, provided sheets and blanket and pillow. Be good to have an extra throw for added warmth as no heating in rooms.

Was right next to one of the main door entrances and could hear the door open and close, is quite a heavy door, could also hear people walking up the stairs heavily. Could also hear the washer and dryer cycles .Cleaning was basic.

Large comfortable bed, great bathroom with excellent shower, small fridge, TV, good hanging space for clothes, good parking outside - paid sometimes, but usually when you're away doing tourist stuff anyway. Stayed 3 days and 3 nights and parking cost $1. Reminded us of Ibis of a few years ago, just what you need and nothing more, at great price.

Bed was slight short of advertised king, so at 196cm my feet dangled a little over the end. Bathroom door incredibly creaky. We were right above the entry gate, which was also very squeaky, so at times there was quite a bit of noise. But none of this spoiled the stay. Would have been 10/10 otherwise.

Lovely having a bed with lockable storage and curtain over bed + own light for 1 night stay on transit. Bottom sheet and duvet and pillow included. The person on the top bunk bed was quiet - sleeping! :) Only 1 bunk bed and a bathroom included with an early booking -was a great price and meeting others (travelers) in the kitchen- hearing their stories. :) Awesome! Buying a towel for only $2. Lots of room - floor room. Food places in walking distance and Rotorua Lake, Library, Thermal garden and Botanical garden too.

Sad the person on the above bunk bed moved the towel to his bunk bed- I think it isn't obvious that people can buy towels for a low $2. I didn't know what to do, as i never got to talk with him, Office had closed, when I realized. Shower wasn't heating up when I tried it early morning, but worked around that. Must of been a reason why. That wasn't so major! Maybe I wasn't patient enough! :) Maybe more lids needed for saucepans -2nd hand shops!! salt, sugar can be useful, as an extra for people who want to cook for only 1 or 2 nights!

I loved the early check in and free laundry. Comfy bed and doona, curtains on your beds for privacy, personal power points and bedside lights, locker for storage although you need to lock it with your own lock. Spent a night in a 4 bedder dorm.

The guy at reception checked me in early which was great, unfortunately the room wasn't ready as in it wasn't clean. I walked into the room and realised that the bed's weren't made which meant twas til dirty. I've been working in hospitality long enough to know how clean sheets look like. The room attendant walked in few minutes later and I asked her and she said that was her last room to clean and she apologized but I said it's okay it's not your fault reception should've done better.

This is genuinely the best hostel I've stayed at. Perfect for a short term stay like I did, the beds were comfortable and didn't squeak etc. Bathrooms were clean and spacious, rooms were modern, with plugs, lights and shelves right by the beds. The kitchens had everything you'd need, and the eating/sitting areas were great. Staff were helpful, I think there's laundry if you need it. Location was just up the road from the intercity bus stop. Couldn't have had a better experience if I'd tried - though bear in mind this was probably not the busiest the hostel will get with it coming into NZ winter at the moment. Highly recommend!

Property is located about a 10 minute walk from the I-Site and 2 minutes from all the shops, cafes & restaurants. Kauri Park is located directly across from the property. Property was recently renovated, so the common area and kitchen was very spacious & modern. Each bed has its own power socket, lamp & curtain. There were lockers located directly under the bed and also separate stand of lockers in the room. Room can get quite hot, so had to leave the window open at night which lead to a mosquito problem. Staff were friendly & professional, kept the property clean throughout. No issue with cleanliness during my stay.

The lights in the bathroom turn off after a certain time, which can be awkward if you are having a shower.

Love the privacy that the curtains give you in your bed. The Hala House concept is Great! Calm crowd and quiet location right next to Kuirau Park. Big kitchen, space in fridge and shelves to store food items hangout areas are inviting. Reception staff very friendly and helpful.

Spark for gas stove is broken, have to light with regular tiny lighter which is scary, hopefully they’ll fix the spark soon or at least provide a proper gas lighter (the long kind so you don’t have to worry about burning your finger tips when lighting the spark) Toilet bowls in girls toilet extremely dirty like they never get cleaned

Very nice layout of the beds, a lot of shelf space, charging ports and privacy. There's cupboards in the rooms for use which is nice. En suite bathrooms which was a pleasant surprise! But no locks on the bathroom door. Very good kitchen.

Kitchen don't have rice cooker. No free parking at the premises. Have to park near kuirau park, which I was informed that my car might get smashed if I park there. Luckily for 5 nights, my car didn't get smashed 🤣 lucky me.
