This was a last minute booking when we were caught with a snow storm and our car went into a ditch. We managed to snag a holiday home for 2 nights in December 2024. The home faces the sea and fjord , it was stunning even if it is only 3h of daylight. Every holiday home is ideally placed to get the best view. Kitchen is well equipped you can cook up anything there. We appreciated the attentive and well mannered staff they were kind and never impatient with us. Our heater tripped in the night and they came to repair it immediately on realising it - no direct communication with the concierge at the main hotel so we had to walk to the main hotel in the snow (we enjoyed the walk though - no cars and the landscape with cottages were beautiful anyway) We built snow men at our private terrace and we had the entire large living space to ourselves. It was luxurious. Tip: there is a professional (or family run - depending on how you look at it) husky ride facility called “Into Nature” just 5 minutes away. We went there , they were the absolute highlight activity of our entire Scandinavian trip. Quentin was a great host very informative and friendly. The dogs were well cared for and happy and obedient. The landscape they run the husky ride is out of a fairy tale - try them!

The bunk bed felt small and tight even for our young children so if you are large built and travelling as all adults then the losers of the dice games gets the bunk bed Try to eat at the restaurant instead of taking away to your holiday home - the paper boxes and food presentation is not appetising in the takeaway boxes. It’s a pets friendly hotel most likely - the toilet has a very strong dog smell (we are dog lovers we don’t mind, but I can understand some people won’t like it)

This resort was everything I ever dreamed it would be! We rented a car and drove from Tromso. We spent two nights in a cabin and one night in hotel both had amazing views and we enjoyed both the same! We were fortunate to see northern lights 2 out of 3 nights we were there! The guides are amazing for the excursions and really make the experience! But you will be cold (as expected) and its a 1km uphill walk to most of them so I’d recommend booking excursions on separate days for your experience to be most enjoyable especially if traveling with kids. Definitely book excursions early as they do book out!

The views, the hotel centre, being in the middle of nowhere.absolutely stunning location,

Everything was an extra charge, but I guess they have to make money somehow. Arrived and wanted to light the fire at 7pm to be told they couldn't get us any wood as the staff went home at 6pm and it would cost us extra for wood. I don't understand why you would advertise a lodge with a fire and not explain that it's an extra charge upfront. I'm happy to pay if I know or I would have brought some with me etc. hot tub was extra, but I did like that fact when booked you get it privately.

The views and the kindness of some of the employees

Check your receipts carefully before paying!! They offer a transfer from Tromsø to the resort. Well, they have charged me twice for the onward transfer. Once online when I booked it and again at check out. When I wrote to them to complain (providing receipts), they told me that everything was fine and that was probably a tip that I left them accidentally. A tip of €107?They told me they would consult it and they haven't told me anything more. I wrote to them again and they haven't answered me.

The location is amazing and the views are one of a kind. The rooms are cozy and the beds very comfy. There is a great hike close by which we very much enjoyed. The breakfast has an okay selection, nothing special. We did see the Aurora really strong that night which was amazing since there is barley any light pollution.

The hotel seemed to have been an office space once, at least that's how the corridors and spaces feel. It's a very strange mix of styles and feels somehow very incohesive and chaotic. I don't understand why the charge for the sauna, around 18€ per person for 2 hours. It is there anyway and there were not many people at the hotel. Maybe outside the main season, it could be included. The AC/ventilation didn't work in our room and the sunshine warmed up the room so much due to the large windows, you can only tilt a small window on the side which doesn't do anything. The cook argued with the service staff about putting more fried eggs on the buffet, which we found strange.

Nice comfortable rooms and living room. Well equipped kitchen. We saw the Aurora from the resort grounds. Its a huge resort, they offer a lot of activities. We had a fantastic dog sledding experience, most thrilling of our lives. The guide is a world champion in dog sledding and he accommodated our 3 year old child although this activity is usually not for little children.

It is quite far from amenities, even petrol. There was just 1 toilet on the ground floor of our unit and nothing on the second floor where the bedrooms are. So if you needed to use the toilet in the middle of the night, you’d have to go down the stairs in the cold and do your business.

The Malangen Resort is in a superb location and the rooms are exceptional. The Standard double we booked had amazing views over the water adjoining the Hotel and to the snow topped mountains in the distance. The transfer bus service is perfect if you are travelling on foot providing convenient transport to the centre of Tromso, and the airport. a terrific hotel and I wish we could have spent longer here, especially since on the day of our departure the weather was unforgiving, and the views largely non-existent.

It is clean and the window is a big size that you have a good view

The room is not facing North, so the chance to view Northern light from your room is very small. There is no big window any where in the property that are facing North. So if you like to check out the northern light from time to time, you have to walk out and up to the hill. With cold weather, it makes it difficult to do. We stayed there for three days and did not see the light. You don’t want to join the tour to see the light either because they will not really drive much away from the resort to chase the light and it costs a lot for not seeing the light.

Brilliant location, nice that it's a bit out of the way. We all had a great time on all the excursions we did, my boys especially liked the reindeer feeding and husky sledding! All the staff and guides were great, we were very impressed with Rosanna on the reindeer feeding, Bes on the snow shoe walking and Stefan on the husky sledding, all very friendly and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend for a great holiday, we were lucky to see the northern lights twice too.

Great facilities, helpful staff and a wide variety of activities bookable from reception. The view from the hotel and cabins were incredible!!

Food was average, the worse we had in Norway. We stayed in a cabin and each is owned by a different owner and it hadn't been cared for recently. Dirty kitchen cutlery and glasses. Light bulbs out in the living area. The outside heaters wires were broken and unusable. A storm had broken part of the hotels boat docking and the scrap metal was left everywhere. Just seemed in a bit of disrepair. It's also a huge complex so you feel very much like a tourist rather than out in the sticks.
