Location was beautiful, lovely view from our upstairs room, lots of outside space to enjoy wine, very quiet. The staff were extremely helpful and hard working, and despite being down some staff members, really took time to talk and help us out. Large and beautiful property. The drive out from Pinhoa was lovely. Pinhao was extremely busy and bustling, we were happy to be a little away from that in such a peaceful setting.

Checkin and check out process was extremely manual and slow. Could be streamlined. Food was pricey for the quality. You are quite far (about 20 mins drive) from town, so they do have to get everything organized and onsite.

THis is a family rural hotel, about 15minutes north of Pinhao, so it's not near things going on. Instead, you get a modern building in a very tranquil setting, including a beautiful grassy lounge area and pool, with 270degree views around the valley and hillsides. Beatrice and Christine are exceptional - so attentive and responsive, and excellent English. Free on-site parking! They also have a dining room with a limited menu, but what thye do provide is really excellent - freshly prepared, very tasty. Breakfast was one of the best we've had in Portugal.

Being up in the hills, the wifi is really weak, sporadic, and sometimes just not available for hours.

The hotel is part of a winery (Quinta do Silva) and is set in a beautiful location in the Douro Valley, with 360 degree panoramic views across the hills full of terraces of vines. Nicely decorated and well equipped, with everything one needs to have a very comfortable stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful - even if they seemed a bit overworked at times…nothing was too much trouble…for example, they moved all of the dining tables and chairs from the dining room out onto the terrace, so that we could all eat outside while enjoying the beautiful evening and those views!

Location is excellent to discover the Douro valley by car. Gorgeous views, and very comfortable room. Staff is lovely and very accomodating. We were contacted before arrival to ask whether we wanted dinner (3 courses with lots of options to choose from), which was very convenient after a long day of travelling. The wines from the estate are really good as well.

Wifi didn't work, but as Europeans we could just use our data plan. Breakfast was a bit hectic, as they serve you eggs and mandarin juice individually, but sometimes staff was too busy with check-out at the same time.

A stupendous location with far-reaching views, rising above the endless Douro vineyards. The right size (not too big with too many guests) not too small had good facilities. Enjoyed the swimming pool - unheated, brace yourself! Good trees for shade.

Sadly the wif-fi was basically non-existent - no way "available in every room". Of our four devices, only one occasionally could connect, even when sitting in reception looking at the router 2m away. Excuses of 'no cable connection' and 'other people can connect' are unacceptable. Get a mesh network and configure it properly - you are not some cheap hostel. Some challenges with under-staffing (understood to be due to illness) made things a little chaotic. Breakfast was good but serving cheap juice diminished you.

Spotlessly clean rooms and common rooms, traditional furnishings, lovely owner and her mother who seem to manage the entire operation. Nice sparkling pool kept in operation all year, beautiful setting. Included Breakfast is great - lots of delicious choices but not so crazy about an automatic coffee dispensing machine - would prefer a real café made fresh.

The owner declared they were short staffed so dinner service while tasty was an excruciatingly long wait. There is a decided lack of atmosphere in the dining room- it was very silent and austere not convivial. Maybe soft music would help. No wine was offered to us during our meal, strange for a winery. Not a negative but be aware that it is like all Quintas in the area, remote. Only 20 minutes by car to town but there are nothing but vines and hills around. Difficult to walk anywhere. Extremely hilly.

The location is absolutely stunning with amazing views over the vineyards towards the river. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed including a small fridge for water etc. We enjoyed dinner on the terrace on both nights of our stay, accompanied by wines from the vineyards. The service was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

The menu for dinner was quite similar on both nights, but the food was good quality and tasty. The owner was struggling with a combination of staff sickness, absence and a local fiesta, so the service at times was rather slow, despite the very best efforts of the staff who were there. The owner was hugely apologetic and was clearly working incredibly hard to compensate. We really enjoyed our stay in this very beautiful place and would recommend nevertheless. The hotel information needs to be very clear that guests should NOT follow GPS/Google maps route as this takes you through the vineyards (which is stunningly beautiful, but only suitable for confident drivers) and the final section is a steep unmade track where 4 wheel drive is essential!

Spectacular location in the middle of the Douro valley, the owner is incredibly friendly and helpful and is constantly running around doing her best to make her guests feel welcome. The wines are superb and I wish we could have brought some home! Breakfast was good as well and the structure is nice and well maintained.

We followed google maps to get to the hotel, we ended up driving through terrifying unpaved vineyard roads, so keep a good eye to where Google maps sends you! We found the dinner at best ok, the overall meal was very expensive for the level of food served.

The hotel stands on a promontory in the Vale de Mendiz and therefore has 360 degree views of the surrounding vineyards. The breakfast was good. The pool area is amazing as it makes the most of those views. The room was comfortable.

Like many places the hotel is struggling for staff, our room wasn't cleaned on the first day. One of the guests said that we needed to give the cleaner our key which we did and everything was Ok on day 2. There is very limited information about the hotel, which has an interesting history, or the local area. Dinner at 35 euro is expensive for the local area. We passed and went to a nearby town.

The quinta is situated at about 5 km from Pinhào, splendidly set on top of a hill with gorgeous views over the terraced vineyards. We were personally welcomed by the very friendly owner, us and our dog, our room was on the ground floor, large and comfortable. The grounds are lovely, provided perfect morning and evening walks for all of us. We didn't use the pool as it was off season. Breakfast is plentiful and included in the price of the room, with lactose free options, fresh orange juice, eggs, cheese and ham, pastries, corn flakes, lots to choose from. One can have dinner in the restaurant - book ahead of time and choose your options-, very well prepared and carefully served. The wine by the glass-both red and white- were good value and excellent. It is a perfect place from which to explore the surroundings without stress

The coffee machine: coffee tasted artificial, which is a pity in Portugal, where coffee is usually at its best and freshly brewed. Some of the options of the 3 course evening meal are quite pricey.
