Location. Though it high up on a steep climb but we enjoyed walk ( rather trek) up and down to Pinhao. Parking, big parking under the hotel. Accessible 24hrs. In case the door is closed at night. Room key card works. Moustache. The resident cat. A friendly tuxedo. He’s a delight. If you are a cat person. This is an added advantage.

The linen. Though clean but maybe they just older sheets/blankets. The marks from years of use are clearly visible. The furniture is the same as above, appears old. No negatives on house keeping though. We received the room absolutely clean.

Beautiful property, stunning views, lovely room with huge deck, great shower, good breakfast, friendly staff. Best of all, the person at the front desk went way above and beyond at checkout. When it was impossible to book a taxi to take us to our next hotel in the area (Pinhao is a small town with very few taxis), she asked someone to fill in for her and drove us there herself in her own car. We were so appreciative, but she graciously brushed off our thanks. What a generous gesture!

It would have been helpful to know that if you’re arriving and departing by train, as we were, it is advisable to book taxis in advance due to the very limited availability.

This was a lovely quiet location with great views, perfect for exploring wineries. The front desk person was so kind and spoke great English, and recommended a good restaurant. The local cat is super cute (but if you’re allergic to cats be aware that he sits on the sofas in the lounge!). Loved having the balcony and fridge in the room. Do keep in mind that not much in town is open past 6 - just a few restaurants are open for dinner and they close by 9 pm. Definitely out in the country!

Beds and pillows were hard (by American standards).

This is a beautiful small smart and modern hotel set a bit higher up in the valley above Pinhao. We arrived in our own car and parking in the free underground garage was obvious and easy. There’s a lovely swimming pool area with views all around. The Douro Valley is a striking place with steep valleys tightly patterned with vineyards, terraces and olive groves. There isn’t an evening restaurant at the hotel but we knew that and headed down to Pinhao for dinner. Breakfast on the terrace in the morning was really good. The views from the balcony of our room were memorable and this was a lovely setting to stay in. Wish in retrospect we’d stayed 2 nights and explored the Douro more!

First visit to Pinhao area and driving a rental car. The hotel has a great location and very good parking. Great to hop around nearby vineyards. It has an open terrace with a very nice view. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was very good.

The sun is so hot that not even the blackout curtains could keep out the heat out of the room, most probably due to my visit was in summer and we are living nasty heat waves. In the afternoon sun hits directly the room and the air conditioner could not compensate enough. Got better after sunset. This was the main cause I gave lower rating despite the great location.

Absolutely loved this hotel, we have a room with a balcony looking over the river and it was lovely. The pool and surrounding area was also very relaxing and quiet and overlooked the river. Bar was open all of the time we were there which was good and the breakfast was great, we will certainly stay again. NB the walk to the River and restaurants is steep, we loved the walk but some may find it difficult. The hotel has a restaurant down by the river Douro which was also very nice.

The staff were fantastic. Really liked the pool area. Ideal in the late afternoon for a refreshing dip after Quinta visits. The river view rooms have both elevated views of the Douro and Pinhao rivers. Very accommodating as we had a late flight from Porto and we were able to use the common areas of the hotel until we left so we were able to have a shower before travelling. Be careful to keep your blinds closed in your room in the afternoon. The sun was powerful and heats the room.a nice touch was some fruits and a glass of port when they found out it was our 20th wedding anniversary. Also be aware that obviously being in the Douro Valley the hotel is situated on the valley walls and it is a strenuous steep walk from the main village centre. I would say it was suitable for the infirm or those with walking difficulties unless you wanted to drive everywhere.

Just minor niggles, we only had limited hot water until the last day of our stay. I did see they were doing some work which mayhave been the issue. We had a broken toilet flush and a broken bulb, but we did not mention it. One thing which would be appreciated is better coffee for breakfast. They do have an espresso machine but I never saw it used. It would be good if something was available to pay for a coffee outside of breakfast time.

The view from our balcony was stunning, looking over the rolling hills of the Douro. Breakfast was simple but delicious, and the staff were so helpful. Room was great, well furnished and comfy. Mustache the cat was my favourite staff member.

The only thing that could be better would be a longer stay. Totally loved this hotel and all the facilities. I don’t think there was anything that wasn’t up to our expectations.

room with river view disappointingly small and river could only be seen from certain angle on very small balcony-and then only over a truckers yard Breakfast food ok but buffet not replenished unless guests asked and when more orange juice was required it was watered down They did bar snacks but did not really advertise this and their bar stock was low eg advertised a aperol cocktail but had no aperol this hotel has the structures in place and could do so much more-not cheap for what it does

The view is beautiful if you look up at the hills and the incoming weather (there was rain 😊) It was very peaceful, the breakfast was pleasant and the bed was very comfortable. The balcony was very nice, equally the swimming pool, but because of the weather we couldn't use them this time, it's a shame. The location - it is up a very big hill. We needed a taxi to get up with suitcases, but after that we walked, a good workout. And you need to get down and up the hill for any restaurants, bars and activities. But we knew this when booking, so it's not a problem. The shower was good and the reception staff were nice.

Once breakfast was finished there was no tea, coffee, bar facility or anything available to drink. No kettle in the room. Which is hard when you are so far away from the bars and cafés, they really do need a central tea / coffee machine for guests, it would make you feel more welcome. The room was a little shabby, a torn curtain, a wooden wardrobe door which wouldn't slide (therefore we didn't spot the small fridge till the last morning, it was hiding behind the sliding door) No full length area of the wardrobe so dresses don't hang straight down.
