The room was clean and comfortable, with adequate shared kitchen, dining, garden facilities. Following a security issue with a window on the original room I booked, the problem was resolved quickly, with an alternative room happily available.

I had arranged to leave my luggage on the day of checkout, til my transfer arrived in the afternoon,. However, no one replied to my calls/messages for further details about this. It was not clear whether I could leave luggage following checkout, or keep room an extra couple of hours. In the end I had to make other arrangements as I had no reply in time, before checkout day.

The room was very comftable, we had space to put food and snacks into the fridge, freezer and cupboard which was nice. I don't understand the reviews saying they had a damp smell, our room smelled very good and the entire guesthouse was clean. The cleaning woman was very helpful, gave us clean towels and anything else we needed without a bother.

The pillows were very thin in my opinion. That's the only Downside I saw, the bed it's self was very comftable I am just use to thick pillows

Great house! even there is a shared kitchen with everything you need (including baby chair on dinner room), There is a lot of places for breakfast or lunch very close. The Matosinhos beach is very close, you can reach it by foot. There super markets near also. Have everything you need specially if you are traveling as a family with a baby. We took the room with private bathroom and it was great!

Pretty small thing, but hugely appreciated – Smell in the room (aromatised or parfumised). Also, the soap and the shampoo are good quality and smell well:) Room itself cozy, clean. Felt like home. Bad is comfortable. Cannot find any reason to complain.

Not a problem at all: Location is close to the beach, but a bit far from the historic part of the city. We have arrived at night and had a couple of efforts to get to the hotel (the street and front yard were not lightened well).

I loved the automated check-in and check-out. The room was clean and beautiful. I loved the dining room. The kitchen had designed parts for the rooms so it doesn't get confusing. Really enjoyed how it was organized. It was close to the beach and also other landmarks.

I don't think there was anything that I didn't like.

The location was terrific for being in the midst of Matosinhos. It was very quiet, as it was located just off a main thoroughfare, which was great! The bed was super comfortable and the sheets of good quality. I was happy to have an ensuite bathroom.

I would have liked a teakettle in my room instead of having to go downstairs to the kitchen to boil water.

Genius Loci guesthouse is a small annexe at the back of a family property, a lovely terrace house in Matosinhos. I visited and stayed there as it is very near where my brother lives. Rather than just getting a room, you get a small self catering apartment, comprising a small kitchen/living area with sink and kitchen cupboards, folding table and chair. There was a coffee machine (no pods as self catering, but 4-5 sets of cutlery and crockery. From that to the left is a lovely bathroom area with sink, shower and loo, and washing machine, to the right of the living area is a bedroom with huge bed, storage/hanging unit, chair, and wall mounted TV. There is Wi-Fi, which I couldn’t connect to, but didn’t ask or really need it. There were a few tea bags and a small bottle of port on arrival, and spare towels as I stayed alone (2 sets provided, I stayed 4 nights). Tastefully decorated with lovely floor tiles, and spotlessly clean. Pre visit communication was very good. Access was via key box, and house side access, so you could come and go as you wish without disturbing anyone. Would I stay there again and recommend, a definite YES. Very easy access from airport on Metro, nearest stop is Matosinhos Sul (south) a few minutes walk from apartment, and quick and cheap for going into Porto with frequent service.

Bed too big (super king?) and sloped in slightly at the centre. But was comfortable and this is a minor detail only.

location. location. location. Perfect to stop before going to the airport (had to leave at 4.30 am). And I could park just in front (I was really lucky!)

a little dump. no aircon or heater. I can imagine it would be really bad during winter time. it was raining and there wasn't a doormat.

Good Central location and good range of facilities. We were a family of 4, the room was a little bit cosy for all 4 of us. We also seemed to be one of the few or only rooms not to have the bathroom ensuite. We needed to pop across the hall to use our private bathroom. To be fare this was explained in the booking, but the other rooms we saw all appeared to have ensuite. With a family it would have been preferable to have an ensuite.

The bathroom not being ensuite. Our air-conditioning did function, but you couldn't adjust the temperature. I did report this on the last day, but didn't see any follow up here. .

Me and my cousin stayed for 8 nights. We were so tired due to the so many options to see around beautiful Porto and we really ran back to this guest house at the end of the day to feel comfortable like home. The bathroom was the most comfortable one including hotels I've ever stayed abroad. To whom organize all these room, kitchen and cleaning stuff, I'm really appreciated for all. The street was so peaceful. Waking up and opening the window with fresh air of trees was perfect. The terrace was perfect for both sunbathing and for meals, cill out etc.

There was nothing I dislike. At first day just I told I needed hairdryer and it was directly given. Thank you so much for your all interest and help for better accommodation.
