The location was perfect! We could easily walk to the train station through a quiet and interesting residential neighbourhood. There were two wonderful shrines close by to explore as well as the extensive Imperial Palace grounds. Several convenience stores, a clean and quiet laundromat and a few small local restaurants were all within a short 5 minute walking distance.

Through Hotel Ninja Black we were only able to ship our luggage ahead to our next holiday destination on a COD basis which isn’t ideal. However, there were several convenience stores within a short walking distance that provided this service. Also, breakfast service was not available at this time. Again, the convenience stores provided some options and there was a small fridge in our room to keep breakfast items fresh and cold.

Vey nice and characteristic hotel in "ninja style", all black, with staff related to ninja culture, and a beautiful internal garden! I appreciated the use of the common area for drinking a tea or a coffee. The hotel is well-placed 10 min walking distance from the imperial palace, and equidistant to 2 metro stations (15 min walking distance each).

Well, I was alone in a quite big room with 3 beds that occupied all the space, so there was practically no place for my luggage.... This apart, I apprteciated a lot my stay here.

The rooms were a great size with very comfortable beds and a small wardrobe space. The ensuites were a good size, and the night gowns were a great touch. the hotel is away from the hustle and bustle, but within walking distance of trains + attractions.

Although staff were lovely, it was a bit of a put off to be told about all the things I'd have to pay extra for if I want them as soon as I arrived. I feel like a note in the room with extras and pricing would be enough.

Friendly staff at the reception desk. Speaks good English. Parking space (if available) right in front of the hotel entrance! Near to attractions.

Very bad internet. On the verge of not working at all. Very little space. In the corridor with standing suitcases you need to walk sideways. It was the only 1 hotel we had to pay some additional "tax" (not small). We had 3 beds in our room. When we decided to move 2 of them together, there was a lot of debris under the bed.

The Ninja theme is on point, the premises are actually very modern, but it has details that make it look like something is hiding just out of view. Rooms where very comfy and big for the price. They were also very quite and I loved taking a bath in the bathroom everyday.

It's well-connected if you want to see the North and West side of Kyoto, but given that the more famous and popular things are East and South-East this place may be a little far for it. It's not a problem if you don't mind taking busses and subway transport.

We enjoyed our stay. The location was a bit far from the attractions. However, we walked and used the city bus travelling around. Hotel is nice, clean, quiet, and provide lot amenities as you need. No daily room clean though, need to request, but we never seen staff during our stay (expect when we checked in). There is common area with microwave and toaster.

Hotel was as advertised. Rooms were clean, relatively spacious, and the hotel has a ninja theme. The check-in was fast and efficient. There is a vending machine for drinks inside, that is appreciated. There is also a common room where you can grab a drink along with a selection of books in English and Japanese. In addition, there is a garden outside with a couple of tables. The location is close to the Imperial Palace, there are a few convenience stores nearby and other food joints.

The theme of the hotel was very entertaining for me. The hotel provided great information about the surrounding area and provided great recommendations as well. The location is near many shrines as well as the Kyoto Palace

The location was difficult to get to with luggage. For example, taking a bus is difficult, especially when bringing luggage, the train station is far, and taxis are very expensive.

I really liked the theming of this hotel - staff dressing up in ninja costumes, spike pit by the reception desk, shuriken on the walls, revolving doors at the reception. It made the stay in Kyoto even more interesting. The room I stayed in was extremely big and excellent value for money. In terms of width, the bathroom was very spacious too. Shower was also very powerful. It's reasonably close to Muratamachi station (direct connection to Kyoto station). It also has a small garden and kitchen room (neither of which I used).

While the bathroom was wide, I found the roof of the shower to be a little bit low.

I really liked this hotel. It's ninja themed and located in a residence area so it's quiet and peaceful, perfect after a day of exploring. I liked the aspect that it wasn't in a bustling centre and enjoyed my walk to the station every day. The staff were extremely nice and helpful and the room I stayed in was clean and very modern and up to date and I enjoyed my stay very much. I will definitely book again when I visit. Thank you for a lovely stay!

The only thing that was a bit inconvenient was the distance from the station to the hotel if you have a luggage (over 20kg). It is a very straightforward walk from the station to the hotel, so that's not the problem - just keep in mind, there are escalators or elevator when exiting the station (think it was exit 2). This of course doesn't concern the hotel directly but good to keep in mind if you are walking from the station to the hotel with heavy luggage. On my way back, I took a taxi to Kyoto station directly, since i had luggage and this seemed like the best option overall.
