Ty Capel is situated in a beautiful part of Powys and being isolated, lends itself to wonderful views. The conservatory as well as providing a view of the countryside, is next to the garden where all manner of birdlife are attracted. The host, Jason, was both welcoming and respectful of guests privacy where necessary.
The room allocated to us, The Chapel, is small with little space to move around. The queen size bed restricts any sitting space (though there is a guest lounge available) and some may find a lack of dressing table & mirror somewhat frustrating. The bathroom is adequate for the basic needs - if a bath is required, book the King Room!

What did we like?.....Everything. Nothing was to much trouble, both Jason & Teresa they were the perfect host's. Everything about our stay was Perfect, Breakfast, room, location. The guest lounge where you could have a drink and watch the "Badger Cam" was cosy. We stayed in the "Clywedog" room which had a great shower as well as the copper fronted bath. We enjoyed "Morning/evening bird song" whilst relaxing with a cup of coffee on the balcony. You will not be be disappointed with your stay at Ty Capel. The Hafren Forest, Devils Bridge and Silver mine experience are all worth a visit.
Nothing.

The location of the property is gorgeous. It's so beautiful, the property looks out to the adjacent hills and lake, providing such a picturesque setting. The hosts are quite attentive. The whole area is nicely maintained and very clean. The room we had was the King room with a balcony and it also have a copper bath. We had plenty of beautiful photos and memories of the balcony and the view. Breakfast was very good . We booked the barbecue for two and it didn't disappoint, it was delicious and there's a variety of meat available, it is plenty for two people. Overall, we had a great time in a great location. We walked around hafren forest and the lake/dam and I would say uts the most picturesque forest walk..

The location is idyllic. It has extensive gardens with a variety of plants, trees & shrubs hosting a wide range of birdlife and other wildlife. Then there is the view down the valley and across the reservoir. Breakfasts were very good. Good food, plenty of it. The bed was extremely comfortable, giving us a very good night's rest. The host was very friendly and accommodating.
There was one plumbing matter that caused a minor inconvenience but the plumber was called out, came twice and attended to the problem. It was the epitome of the saying that "anything can go wrong: it is how it is dealt with that is the true test." The test was passed.

Warm welcome. Amazing location, view at breakfast in conservatory was to the horizon uninterrupted by any buildings and view of lake from bedroom sublime! Room was huge, bathroom immaculate and spacious really deep bath very relaxing and plenty of hot water no issues. Breakfast (excellent sausage for meat eaters) nicely cooked, also cereal options plentiful and good choice of juices. Pretty garden, very natural looking and not manicured thank goodness just well done and plenty of birdwatching (Robin, nuthatch, woodpecker) whilst you wait for breakfast. Whilst waiting for dinner, a live feed on screen of a local Osprey nest can be viewed in the wonderfully quirky ante room before dinner. Genius! No road noise, only sound came from the lambs a field over. Idyllic!
Bed was not too bad, certainly very very wide which is great for snorers to be out of thumping distance. Pillows however were the one let down… very flat and lacking body therefore not comfy. If had remembered to mention it I am absolutely sure problem would have been rectified immediately.

Ty Capel is beautiful and so much care has been put into restoring the cottage to convert into a B&B. I stayed in the Hafren room and room far exceeds other 5* hotel rooms I've stayed in. I would love to come back in the winter to take advantage of the log burner. The views of the mountains, the sunset and the lake from the window were amazing. The breakfast was brilliant and the lounge with the honesty bar is so cosy. Would 100% recommend to others. Jason and Teresa were very kind hosts.
Already mentioned to the hosts but would just be great if the evening food options can be made into smaller portions for solo guests as well as those visiting as a couple. At the moment the two food choices (a meat & cheese platter or quiche & chips) can only be ordered as sharing options for two at £40.

The owner, Jason made sure everything was in order for my arrival and confirmed in the morning on the time, so he would be there to greet. The room was perfect , comfortable and a magical view. I have not been anywhere that could beat the view and the peaceful surroundings. There's also a common room where you can sit comfortably and enjoy a variety of drinks, while mingling with some of the wonderful guests who are staying there. The garden can also be used to sit and relax, if the weather permits.
Absolutely nothing - it was just perfect.

This was a lovely little stay in mid-Wales to break up the trip from North to South! The hosts were very accommodating, letting us check in half an hour early. The room was excellent and the views of the lake from the garden were beautiful. We had pre-booked the BBQ experience and this was fantastic, the food, the area, the whole experience, there was fairy lights, heaters, speakers, a firepit and marshmallows, everything was thought about! Breakfast was also very good and again with a lovely view.

Gorgeous property! It sits high about a reservoir with amazing views. The place itself is beautifully decorated and comfortable. We stayed in the king room and had plenty of space, a comfortable bed, and a roomy bathroom with over-sized claw-footed tub. Jason and Teresa made us feel very welcome and provided a delicious breakfast which we ate in their atrium while watching birds feeding in their beautiful garden.
Wish we could've stayed longer!

Jason and Teresa were the perfect hosts! Ty Capel was the most beautiful/ perfect B&B myself and my partner have ever stayed in! The location was just what we wanted for our trip and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect view. The room was beautiful and the copper bath topped it off nicely! We celebrated my boyfriends 30th birthday and Jason and Teresa made it perfect from the home cooked meal we booked, to the little happy birthday sign on our table. One day we wish to return and experience it all over again. Thankyou for the most wonderful stay 😍
Nothing. Everything was perfect!!
