Our trip (June 2023) to the Unicorn was a reconnaissance for a bike trip a group of us are doing next year and we will need parking, bike storage, 4 rooms and breakfasts. The parking was OK this time in free car parks nearby, but if it got busy upon arrival it could be a problem although I sense we would get a park somewhere but maybe not so near, but this was the only hitch in this pleasant hotel. Rooms were clean with adequate coffee making facilities, excellent breakfast although this was 12 pounds each extra on top of the room rate, but the overall price still what you would expect during holiday season. Secure bike storage is available. Location is close to the Hafen forest and it's beautiful there, so excellent base for exploring the source of the Severn, bird watching etc. Staff were very helpful and friendly with check in by remote control that worked wonderfully.

Parking as mentioned but probably not a show stopper. Evening meals not every day of the week but plenty of choice in the town.

Lovely suite of rooms. Comfortable bed. Excellent toiletries, and plenty of coffee/tea and biscuits. Fresh milk in fridge a real plus. Very good evening meal - sublime lamb and excellent vegetarian dish. Outstanding staff who clearly care about the business and about their colleagues.

We were aware that the town might have some noise, so we were prepared. The property thoughtfully provided ear plugs, however. For the cost, we thought there might have been coffee bags rather than instant.

A bit disconcerting to find the hotel locked when we arrived with a note on the door to ring a number. However, within 5 minutes we were actually in our room and the process was much quicker than if we had to check in via a reception. An excellent process which I would be more than happy to use in the future. Our room was sufficient for our needs and spotlessly clean. Breakfast the following morning was excellent. Would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this area.

The hotel was perfectly positioned for our off road motorcycle course which was just down the valley. The owners and staff were very friendly and welcoming and the general appearance and cleanliness of the hotel and rooms was top notch. Food was available for 2 nights of our stay and was to a very high standard - Not a huge choice but what was available was cooked perfectly. Should I return in the future I would not hesitate to book again.

Parking at the rear of the hotel was pot luck and we were lucky during our stay to get spaces on all 3 nights. But other spaces were available within a short walking distance. This does in no way detract from the experience of things that are within the control of the proprietors.

Staff were very friendly and helpful as arrive reasonably late in the evening. Room was comfortable and had good facilities. Breakfast was very tasty and they accommodated a slightly earlier start in the morning.

The only room available was the twin, the bed was a little on the small side and with the chair in the corner a bit tight getting round the end of the bed without hitting your leg on the bed frame.

We stayed in a king suite. Very spacious and comfortable, with separate seating area. Decoration, furniture and furnishing very stylish. The small fridge is a bonus. We had dinner in the restaurant, very good food. The breakfast is also nice. The room was at the front of the hotel (in the main street in the centre of the town) but the road is very quiet at night, so noise wasn't an issue.

We loved that it was in the middle of town and that everything was within walking distance. We loved staying in a historical building but everything was very modern in a good way. The breakfasts were great and the staff was very friendly.

There were many steps involved if you stay in the upper room. This is just a consideration if you have mobility problems.

We didn't have the breakfast as we had to leave very early. The decor and furnishings for the whole of the Unicorn were very well coordinated right through to the towels in the bathroom. The fresh milk in the fridge was greatly appreciated . Much better than the long life pots that you normally get in a room. It was the hottest day on record the night w stayed so it would have been impossible to sleep had it not been for the fan. Such a great concept to chaneg a hotel/pub into rooms only. Would definitely stay there again.

No complaints

Absolutely amazing from the moment walk through the door you are struck by the stylish decor which is evident throughout the hotel. Our room was large and comfortable. The standout moment of our stay was dining in their restaurant where the food was amazing. One tip book a table in advance as they fill up quickly as so popular. We were lucky enough to dine their our first night but not lucky enough to get in on our second night. The other eateries in the area whilst "nice" just do not stack up. Our overall experience of the Unicorn was "banging". Big shout out to the new owners you are doing a great job and we wish you well for the future.

The whole place has a high standard of decor and good quality furniture and fittings . Comfortable bed and good lighting Excellent breakfast, served by first class staff.

The instructions for entering the ( unmanned) hotel on Sundays and Mondays are a little confusing: there is reference to "dial" and "Shutter" , but no dial is immediately obvious and the black shutter wasn't identifiable as such in the low light of the alleyway . It is a good idea but unusual, so clarity must be good !
