The room was comfortable and well presented, and we slept well on the bed. We were made welcome when we arrived. Breakfast was well cooked and on time. The village pub is in a quiet road and easy to find, with lots of parking. We enjoyed a walk through the village.

The radiator in our bathroom was not working. This in it's self wasn't a problem, but we did explain to one member of staff on the first morning that our towels were not getting dry as a result. Nothing was done about this for the 4 nights of our stay. We also felt that the breakfast offering was a bit limited - although we appreciate we were the only guests. There could have been yogurts and fruit to go with the cereal? We were warned that there was a Halloween disco/party on one night of our stay. It was fine with us but went on loudly until past 11:30 - just a head's up for others!

The room was very spacious, clean, had great views and the coffee/tea facilities were excellent. the added bonus which is unusual in most pub/inn accommodations we have stayed in is the addition of a mini fridge. this is perfect if staying for more than one night and allows storage of drinks or sandwiches to keep fresh especially as the area is renowned for its great walks. the staff were all excellent, the locals we saw there were very pleasant and happy to chat, with the log fire going and reasonably priced drinks to hand we were made to feel most welcome and we were very relaxed in the atmosphere which was just as we had hoped. the evening meal was great and very tasty. portion sizes were very good and with a starter each before the main of locally sourced fish and chips it was a struggle to completely finish the meal. the bottle of wine we had was very nice and the price was very reasonable. the staff were all very knowledgeable, attentive and polite and we really cant wait to stay here again very soon.

there literally wasn't anything to dislike except the weather which i wont hold against them. :-) in fact the weather made us stay in the bar longer than we otherwise would have which turned out to be a blessing as it made for a proper chilled out afternoon before getting ready for the fabulous evening meal.

The staff were welcoming and personable. We were shown to our room promptly and everything was explained clearly and concisely by Beckie. The room was spacious and although very warm, a big fan had been put in our room. We dined in the restaurant and the food was well closed and delicious. At breakfast we were served by Sharon who was lovely and so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.

The tele remote didn’t work well. On the final morning of our stay the chef was off sick so his job was covered by staff. Therefore the breakfast choice was limited. I ordered scrambled eggs which were so overcooked they looked chargrilled and my partner asked for soft poached eggs which came out like two bullets.

Fantastic find. Little gem tucked away in beautiful rural setting. Lovely old public bar with great choice of beers. Food was fantastic with an amazing breakfast choice all served piping hot on warm plates. The bedrooms were really large with a lovely cottagey feel but with those little extras that made a big difference, such as a high comfy bed with lovely crisp sheets, a fridge in the room with milk and bottled water. Nice choice of tea and coffee, toiletries in bathroom and nice big towels. All the staff were incredibly kind and polite,a credit to the pub. We have been singing the two sawyers praises to our family and friends and when we are in this part of the world again it would most definitely be our first choice place to stay.

Can’t think of anything really

Excellent spacious room with a very comfortable bed which obviously had a quality mattress. The on suite shower room had just recently been refurbished and was clean and well appointed. The room had double aspect windows which opened, so duing hot weather I expect there would be a nice breeze to keep things cool. There was also a fridge in the room which housed the two complimentary bottles of water and a very small bottle of fresh milk which was provided by the host daily. So much better than those awful tiny cartons of foul tasting liquid as provided by most hotels. There was a plentiful first class breakfast provided in the pub's restaurant each morning served by the very charming young lady owner, I believe cooked by her husband who is the chef and co owner.

The only two negatives, there was a neon light above the bedroom door, I guess to indicate it was the way out in an emergency. This light really lit up the room and could be quite disturbing to some people. In fact we noticed that someone had used a black felt tip pen to try and block out some of the light by drawing along the bottom. Also there was not a handy power point to plug in the hairdryer near to the mirror, I had to pull out the bedside table to find a useful power point. These two issues were not enough to spoil our enjoyment of the room and we will definitely come back again.

It was just fabulous and meet all our expectations. Our room was wonderful with everything we needed, tea coffee, large TV, spacious and a beautifully refurbished shower room. We ate dinner there and it was just amazing, fresh, delicious and served with a big smile. Would recommend the cheese soufflé, one of the best I have ever eaten, Sardines were fresh and boneless and the Liver and bacon was to die for. Great choice of wines and real ales. The owner and staff could not do enough for us and made our stay perfect. The current owners have been there around a year, they are eager to please and I hope will make a massive success of the establishment. A comprehensive choice for breakfast, could not resist the full English, this was just amazing too, served by a lovely staff member who was so kind. We could not fault this place, I think we have found our little bolt hole and will definitely be returning. The location is in a beautiful setting, peaceful, with ample parking, We took a bus ride to Rye which was good fun, you also get to Hasting easily too. Plenty of walks in the local area, Pett Level Beach is a short drive away and is worth a stroll.

NOTHING AT ALL ! Just could of done with a couple more nights. Next time..

The room was an excellent size, if a little dated in the decor. The en-suite was lovely and looked as if it had been recently refurbished? Venue was very accommodating for us arriving back later at night. Good breakfast.

We had to move the dresser as it had the only mirror and my partner couldn't reach from the plug socket for her straighteners/blow drier. The pillows were slightly thin, but slept okay in the bed. Being picky, the Hollandaise sauce on the Eggs Benedict was a little vinegary ... but we still ate it all!

Excellent service and the breakfast was fabulous. Very gluten free aware which is always such a relief when staying away from home. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere at the place is lovely and they do all they can to make your stay perfect.

The decor in the bedroom is very dated. The bathroom has been updated and it would be assumed that at some stage this will happen with the bedroom. It was just disappointing to see upon arrival.

The room was spotlessly clean, and charmingly decorated. Both dinner and breakfast were throughly satisfactory, reasonably priced, with pleasant and competent service.

The owners could probably reduce their fuel bills. Even on a very cold day, both the bedroom and especially the bathroom were grossly over heated, with TRVs on the radiator that seemed it responsive to any attempts to be turned down.

Excellant breakfast, dining experience and chioce of local produce is excellant Staff are very attentive The ceiling in the dining area are low so if you are tall please be mindful to duck down after all it is a 16th century building with a lot of charactor Plenty of parking and surrounding woods to take a stroll coast line is only 5mins by car - will definately stay again,

Health and safety fire Emergency green light directly above the bed in room in fairness new owners and are looking to see if it is possible to move the light to a different location within the room I did wake up feeling like I was shriek lol The bar can get busy as it is a small area but it is soon clears
