Location is brilliant for being able to see alot of the historical part of Philidelphia, the building was beautiful and I loved the fact that check in included a brief history of the hotel, staff were very friendly and always said hi or morning. I loved the afternoon cookies and coffee / tea they offered, I've never known any other hotel/b&b do that. The room was a very good size and the bed was very comfortable. Our first day at the botel they gave us a map with suggested places to visit, which was also an enjoyable moment. Would highly recommend staying at Morris House Hotel!
The options for breakfast were very limited, especially if anyone in your party (or yourself) has coealic. Could habe done with a full length mirror in the room, there was one hidden in a wardrobe we found the last 2 days of our stay. The windows in our room did let a lot of outdoor noise in, so some distrubed nights but nothing horrendous. The room could have done with another main light to light up the other half of the room.

Old historic house, not easy taking cases upstairs, but knew this when booking. Strange first night, wanted to relax in restaurant garden with a drink, but was asked to move to the outskirts of the courtyard, as people eating there and we were only having a drink? Second night Monday was informed restaurant would be closed, which if normal practice, then we should have been prior informed. Spent the night eating in a very good establishment just down the road.
Restaurant staff asking us to move to another table as not eating, however courtyard garden was empty 30 minutes prior to their closing time, so I and my wife not in any bodies way? Second night Monday, were told restaurant was not open on this night, not sure if weekly or just a one off being closed on Monday night?

Everything met my expectations; from the perfect location to walk to many attractions, to the ease of accessing public transportation, to the quiet yet attentive service, to the comfortable beds, to the excellent food in the restaurant, to the feeling of safety in a big city for a woman traveling alone and the historical value of a few nights in a place where much of our early political brouhahas began.
I cannot think of anything that could have been improved. For travelers expecting shiny and plastics perhaps it would not be the wonderful hotel I think it is but I enjoyed the beautifully renovated very old space.

It is a beautiful hotel and was especially cozy on a cold January weekend. Jim was particularly helpful. We had asked for suggestion of nearby restaurants to eat and he mentioned Tulula's Garden. We had wanted to go there, but couldn't get a reservation. He called for us and got us a table right away. One of the best meals we have ever had. Thanks Jim!
I think they could work on the breakfast a little. Perhaps more varied bread, cereal choice. Coffee was really good.

The Morris House Hotel is more than a comfortable, totally centrally located hotel in Philly. From the first moment you enter the hotel, you are greeted by a charming, helpful, very experienced, extremely friendly and always positive management. The historical background of the house invites you to find out more. You feel warmly welcomed as if in a family community. The rooms are tastefully decorated with a love of authenticity. Having stayed there for more than just a few days, I can recommend this hotel with pleasure and conviction.

Arrived late, many restaurants (and shops) in the area. The bar at the Hotel looked excellent. But decided to walk a block north to Washington Square and found a wonderful restaurant. The Washington Square area oozes American history. Felt so lucky to have stayed at the Morris House. Will definitely stay there again when in Philadelphia.
Being multi-century buildings there were the to-be-expected narrow hallways and long, steepish staircases. My wife and I are hardy, so not too much of a bother. I think some accommodations are on the first floor if you are not able or want to climb the staircase(s).

Jerry, the Concierge, goes above and beyond in helping the visitors navigate not only the things to do in this historic city, but also showing them how to get around. He is generous with his time in explaining the answers to any questions people present. In addition, he is resourceful and creative solving unique potentially aggravation problems: during the marathon, the taxis were very delayed and canceled. He stepped right in without hesitation and managed every step of getting my first uber in a manner which was FAR and way above what would be called excellent. Interactions with all staff members are very positive as well.
I am hard pressed to make any suggestions.

The homey authentic colonial atmosphere and the decor are reminiscent of a lovely New England bed and breakfast inn in the heart of the city-unique ! But the best features is the caring helpful stuff , all were terrific . They go above and beyond . Last but not least , loved the included breakfast, coffee station, cookies, and bathrobes in the rooms.
The light in the bathroom in my room was poor, I could not put on makeup easily . I also felt that the shower was very substandard.. ( Also, the TV set was pretty much not working, but I did not ask for it to be fixed since I wasn’t there much.)

The Morris House Hotel is a lovely stay that takes you back in time. The facilities are very clean, charming, and well appointed. The room had a tall ceiling a comfortable bed. The bathroom was well equipped. The location is unbeatable!
The room was facing the street, so it was a bit loud on weekdays. The windows are already double-panned, so the hotel should offer ear plugs and a sound machine in the room. Additionally we felt the breakfast could be improved. It was vey basic and didn't really match the historic vibe of the space.

Location was fantastic to all of the local historical sites. Walk to almost everything including downtown. Wonderfully large room and very comfortable king bed. Really nice breakfast downstairs. Staff was super nice. We had Happy Hour at the restaurant that’s a part of the complex and that was great.
There must be a subway system very near our room as it was quite noisy and woke us up.
