The staff were friendly and the staff member on reception ensured my son and I were able to get an evening meal the first night even though I hadn't booked in advance. The room and ensuite were clean, fresh and a comfortable temperature. I had one breakfast which I felt was good value for money as there was a good selection of food.
I didn't find my bed particularly comfortable and although I wore earplugs, the traffic noise was quite loud when the road got busier. Compared to other hotels I've stayed in, the condiments were pretty stingy. I went out and bought myself some milk and coffee to make in my room.

Staff were very friendly and warm, nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was top notch, I had the best venison stew I've ever had in my life. The cosy bars have an amazing selection of local whisky and gins and all reasonably priced. Location is an ideal base for all that the area has to offer with the village itself being very pretty with lots of lovely walks around. Our room was quite basic but more than adequate for a place to stay after a day's hike. Nice hot shower, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer and a clean comfy bed is all you need. This was a last minute booking for my 60th birthday and was glad we chose the Balavil. We would be happy to return.
Disappointed that dogs are not allowed to stay.

The staff were really welcoming and the hotel really cosy. I needed to work late one of the evenings and the manager let me stay working in the bar area even after closing, which was kind and helpful. The pool was a lovely bonus too. It's hard to get much exercise or headspace on the road, so that was a really nice touch to be able to go for a swim.
The cups in the room were paper, it would have been nice to have proper mugs. Limited vegetarian options on the menu.

We recently stayed at the Balavil Hotel in Newtonmore, Scotland, and had a wonderful experience. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and provided the perfect setting for our stay in the Highlands. What truly stood out was the exceptional staff. They went above and beyond to ensure our visit was enjoyable. Despite not having dinner reservations, they kindly accommodated us, and the meal was delicious. Their warm hospitality made us feel right at home. I highly recommend the Balavil Hotel for anyone looking for a cozy stay with outstanding service!

Good bar, restaurant and pool. Nicely decorated and the staff are all lovely. Bedrooms had tea and coffee available and were fairly spacious with a clean and well supplied bathroom. We watched the football in the back bar which is the type of local hotel lounge bar you don't see much anymore. It was ace.
Told restaurant was fully booked and latest we could eat was 6pm. Then there plenty of tables free in the end. So everyone ate when we weren't really hungry. There is also a lot of noise leak from other rooms. The room above us made the light fitting in our room rattle when they walked around. But for a night or two it's fine.

Room was clean and got cleaned every day. The hotel looks nice, we sadly didn't eat there for dinner- though I heard it's good. Lots of dear paintings and little details. The location around the hotel was also amazing and you can get to many lovely places with a car. Very friendly staff. We visited a bit out of session, so many other restaurants were not open but we still found places. There is a co-op right next to it and enough parking space opposite to the hotel
The pool is quite small I would say and looks a bit older. Though for a short swim (and I mean short as there is not much to see) it's nice and warm. So I still enjoyed it for 15 min.

This hotel was excellent, we loved our room it was a big room, enormous bed, beautiful little window space to sit in with a coffee from the coffee machine. The breakfast was really tasty and the staff were so helpful and on hand for everything. The hotel was quiet and although I'd love to have used the pool we didn't actually find time but again the staff were really helpful giving us information about it for after we'd checked out. We will definitely be back and and recommend to others.
There wasn't anything we didn't like.

The staff were lovely from check-in until check-out. The hotel had a great location and was kept very tidy. The bathroom was well supplied and the shower had constant hot water and good pressure. The housekeeping servicing was excellent, bed was remade and towels supplied daily. We enjoyed the swimming pool every day of our stay and we had it to ourselves everytime! We had a nice, hearty dinner at the hotel on our first night.
Parking could be a bit limited at peak times which is advertised but rather irritating for residents. Our room was definitely very small and I’m not sure it was equal to the price we paid. The toilet seat was hanging off and wouldn’t stay upright. The shelf which the kettle sat on was broken which was irritating. Additionally, the hallways were a bit tired and in need of a re-do.

The hotel is located in a nice village right at the edge of a national park, so lots of nature to be had. Breakfast is good and cooked to order. The hotel also has a (small) dinner menu, with good quality and presentation. Good for one or two nights since there aren't too many restaurants around. Comfortable, warm room and nice to have a free indoor swimming pool with towel service. It's not large but suitable to do a few laps. There is a well equipped bar as well, though I didn't make use of it. Good selection of whiskies to try there. Staff was excellent, too.
Some parts of the hotel (bathrooms) are perhaps slightly dated, but nothing major.

The room was quite spacious and the bathroom was big enough. We really enjoyed the dinner at the hotel and we were very happy that they had vegan options (you have to ask for a separate menu though) The swimming pool was a good way to wake us up in the morning
The location was a bit hard to reach.. Not the hotel's fault, and we were aware of this, but the road to get to the town is LONG. And narrow. So be aware of that if you plan on arriving later in the evening, I was quite tired of driving by the time we got to the hotel
