The rooms were very nice. One had recently been renovated, the other was a little dated, but still very nice and comfortable. The food was very nice indeed, and we decided to eat dinner at the hotel each night. The staff really made all the difference, so helpful and went above and beyond with the children. All staff were good, but we especially mention Meg, Nicole, Abbie and Ollie. They did have a few issues in the kitchen one evening, which meant the food was delayed, but it was very nice when it did arrive. The location of the hotel is great, right next to the steam railway station and a lovely secret garden.

I think the speed of the food arriving at the table after ordering needs to be improved upon, and also maybe a few extra staff members for evening meal time so they are able to open the side rooms quicker to save on the wait. The food was amazing though, just not always good to have to wait so long, especially when the children are hungry after a busy day exploring.

This is a lovely hotel up in the Scottish Highlands. It sits right next to the railway station where the Strathspey Railway comes in should you be there on the days it does. All the staff are very friendly and polite and can't do enough for you. Our room was beautiful, large area and large bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was included and is served as a buffet style initially and then you order a cooked breakfast if you want one. There is also a restaurant in the hotel which is reasonably priced. The location was about 4 miles from Aviemore and we used it as a base to go on day trips.

nothing but just to make people aware there are no lifts to the room so you have to walk up steps (but we did get offered assistance to get our luggage up there) so for us it wasn't a problem.

The room was small but arranged in such a way that gave me the feeling of being in a bigger room. Because I was alone the fact the double bed was against the wall was not an issue to me, saying that, if there were 2 people I might think the adult sleeping against the wall might been quite squized. Breakfast was good, the continental buffet was nice and the scottish breakfast even better. The idea of proposing to the guest a wee scottish breakfast is good, instead of having a big breakfast and not finishing all of it, the wee scottish breakfast is a wonderful solution to not trow away food. All the atmosphere in the hotel from the check in till the check out is cozy and warm. Just the way we were used to have in Scottish hotels in the past.

Nothing to add

First of all, the service we received was excellent. As soon as we arrived and checked in, there was a young man available to help take our bags to our room. The quaintness of this inn was what we have come to expect when we travel and look for out of the way places. We had to walk up a few flights of stairs and wind around halls and go through doors to get to our room which looked out over the rail yard but we never heard a train. We did make reservations for dinner and nothing disappointed about our meals. The breakfast the next morning was also a delight! Not only the breads and fruit spread out but also included was ordering from the menu. Something to note as we moved from one place to another was the quality of service that we experienced in almost every restaurant. These servers work together and always worked with a smile and a level of politeness that exceeded our expectations. There never seemed to be a shortage of help and we never waited more than a few minutes for any request to be met.

The car park was a little difficult to figure out as there didn't seem to be any signage. But, after checking in, we were directed to a spot that we could use overnight. Our only regret was arriving in rain that prevented us from exploring the area a little more.

Very warm and friendly welcome here, a nice and cosy place. We arrived late and left early so couldn't appreciate the stay as a whole as we travelled for work purposes. The bed was large and comfy (in the upgraded room) We originally booked a budget room but glad we didn't stay in this room (very basic and no carpet!)

The room wasn't ready (bed not made) but quickly sorted another room which was an upgrade, so we appreciated that. No cash payments at the bar and no ice. The shower (a large walk in) had very little pressure but it was hot. All in all it was a nice stay and would return if in the area.

Warm welcome on arrival by friendly staff. Allowed us to check in early and did last minute check to ensure room was ready whilst we had lunch. Waiting staff at the onsite resytarent attentive but not overbearing. Beautfiful room with inrtoom bath with a beautiful view out over the train station and the hills in the distance.

Sleep was slightly disturbed by the music downstairs. Although not overly loud when downstairs, as the speakers are positioned in the top corner of each room it comes through louder upstairs.

The room was lovely. It was actually closer to a suite than a room. Nicely decorated sitting area, with a great view, through double doors to a bedroom with an ensuite off it. The ensuite had both bath and shower. Food was good - we had both breakfast and dinner there. Dinner in the bar by a cosy open fire. Breakfast in the breakfast room. Staff were helpful and friendly. Boat of Garten itself had lots of easy walking that was do-able even in the truly Arctic weather we had mid-January and the roads were kept gritted. (an important consideration when contemplating going away to the Cairngorm area without a 4W drive vehicle)

Draughty windows letting arctic air into the room. Fortunately the curtains were better than most at holding it back. It was below minus 10 overnight so exceptionally cold. Breakfast coffee was not the best and I really value a proper coffee first thing! I found it difficult to find healthy options on the dinner menu, but staff were very accommodating of my adaptations and odd choices.

There was an offer on for an automatic room upgrade which was greatly appreciated. On arrival we were given a choice of rooms based on outlook, we took of the historic steam railway station and Cairngorms beyond. The room was clean and well appointed, slightly tired but excusable for the price. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and gave off a homely vibe. All staff were attentive and friendly, and the food was excellent.

Our room (a Garden Room) was very comfortable with a lovely view over the garden and the Cairngorms; the food was very good; the staff, particularly the young girls, were charming, helpful and very efficient, nothing was too much trouble.

There was a problem with the hot water in our room so that over 4 nights we never succeeded in having a hot shower. The management tried hard to fix the problem but failed. They did however compensate us financially.

It was clean, good breakfast we got an excellent room, the property is dog friendly and the staff was super nice. Fantastic atmosphere and excellent location. Plenty of parking and just across from a lovely village shop.

Nothing was bad, but pub prices are slightly over the top for the quality of the food although I understand that it’s high season after all.
