being in the heart of the city it was accessible to everything. A short distance from both buses and trains, and once you found your bearings you could walk to where you needed to go - or catch one of the three free 'loop' buses.

prices of meals at the hotel seemed rather excessive - close by were several reasonably priced cafe/restaurants. Remember, this is a city where everyone eats out - a lot! We were not impressed with the outdoor/roof terrace area. The pool was smaller than expected and there was only room for 5 sunbathers. Towels however were clean and plentiful.

Check-in - as I am an Accor member, we were able to do an early check-in prior midday. Concierge - staff went the extra mile to look for car rental companies on our behalf as we shared that we encountered problems in picking up our rented car from the airport. Cleaner - she was respectful and trustworthy, as all our items remained in place even though she went inside to clean the room while we are away. Room - we were assigned a nice room on the 10th floor with view of the King George Square Lifts - there were three lifts and all are perfectly working and fast, which helped lessen the wait times. Complimentary drink - it was made special by not only offering plain cold water; there were two chilled options to choose from, perfect for the warm temperature upon our arrival. Valet service - the car was taken care of and we were able to return it without any scratches or other issues from the owner.

EV charging station - when I was searching for a hotel in Brisbane city, this is my primary keyword and Mercure appeared on the results. However, when we handd over the car to the valet, he said the hotel doesn't have any. The car has its own charging kit but the valet said they are not familiar how to use it and there is no powerpoint in the parking area. And because the car has not been charged the entire night, we struggled to find a vacant EV charging station in the city the next day which in turn made us cancel our scheduled morning trip to the Sunshine Coast.

The view was amazing! Location perfect to explore Brisbane City. Staff were amazing, helpful and polite. A special mention to the Valet team, who went above and beyond to accomodate our needs. Appreciate quality service from quality gentleman. Breakfast was wonderful also! Great to see Gluten free options at the buffet. Delicious meals, helpful and kind staff. Thank you to everyone at the Mercure. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.🙏

Shower hard to access as positioned behind the door. (An older hotel to be fair) No microwave included in room (if travelling with a baby this could be problematic).

I loved that after letting them know that we were celebrating our belated 18th Wedding Anniversary. They gave us a plate of complimentary Dessert and a card to wish us for our Anniversary. They also gave us the highest floor on the 15th. We loved all of these about Mercure King George: 1. Close proximity to Queen Street and the King George Square. 2. The rooftop bar and the pool was amazing. 3. Staff were friendly and very approachable and helpful. 4. The room was really clean and the bed was really comfortable. 5. The Buffet breakfast was really good too.

Early check in was amazing (9am). My daughter was stoked. Plent of room for our bags etc in the room. Location couldn't fault it. Staff were lovely. Upstairs bar was a great addition. Loved the amount of towels available at the pool.

Breakfast was okay. Ran out of butter. Glasses for juice are in a spot a lot of people couldn't find them. The bathroom ran out of body wash, which is strange, considering the bottle was 480ml. So hadn't been checked in a while. Also the curtains in the bathroom were filthy. Bar staff upstairs was a bit slow, so we didn't end up staying for another drink. Pool needs some maintenance - pool tiles. Day beds look really shabby.

Large buffet breakfast very good, though not all items were available every day. Room view was excellent ( 9th floor) Staff friendly and helpful. Liked practical items in the room, like the iron, ironing board, drinking glasses, tea, coffee &milk in fridge. Tissues appreciated ( some Hotels no longer provide such essentials) Cost during school holidays, included breakfast, was pretty reasonable.

Only the outside of the windows was dirty & needed a clean, to see the great view better,

Proximity to attractions

I would prefer to have an opening window in the room for fresh air, only needs to open a little bit but there is absolutely no fresh air. I was disappointed with the service in the downstairs bar, would not rate that at all. I had to go to the bar 3 times to chase up my cocktail, it was not busy and staff were polishing glasses. Most annoying to feel invisible. The roof top bar was top notch but unfortunately closed due to a private event the second evening, would never recommend the downstairs bar.

We stayed 8 nights and receptionist upgraded us to Pullman hotel at the same location. My wife has back injury and the bed is hard enough to comfort her. Location is also best. I can just walk to business/shopping center and city central.

Room attendant not always give us water bottle every time they clean up our room. We also have to request to receptionist to ask housekeeping to clean up our room when they skipped it. This has to be improved. We ordered breakfast package for 8 days, and the menu is same each day. We suggest to improve on menu variation or provide one spot for new menu such as Asian/Chineese/Mediteranian.

The view of St George church and the St George Square. The buffet breakfasts

It was only a few minutes being in the room that I caught about 5 moths. Then a couple more and the next few days a few more to a total of about 12 or more. The bed was a bit too soft for my husband who has a sore back and needs a firm bed. the staff offered a change of room but we had already settle in and unpacked our clothes etc so we stayed in the room. It was also a bit far to walk to walk to the Botanical Gardens and South BAnk for us elderly people with back and hip issues.

The location was fantastic. Close to public transit, shopping and food. The room was spacious and had everything I needed. Rooftop bar is a great place to have a drink in the evening. Housekeeping did a great job of restocking the tea I liked.

The Goldfinch seemed very overpriced for what the food was. It would be nice to have a more reasonable option for coffee and toast without walking out, but again, there were many choices nearby.
