Staff were very helpful & friendly & also recommended great local restaurant (Mezze, Athens) that didn't disappoint. The room was a good size, clean, the bed was firm & comfortable. I got to meet the hotel owner who apologised for the refurbishment works that were being carried out in the reception lobby area, his staff & the contractors were polite & accommodating in making sure that guests could still negotiate their way in & out the hotel without coming to harm. I asked why the price was so appealing & he replied that it was a quieter time of year for business. The breakfast choice was also great with both hot & cold food which was comparable to that of bigger hotels that I've stayed in. This hotel ticked all the boxes & ideal for a city break & literally 2- 3 minutes walk from the Metro & 1 minute from Syntagma Square, 5 - 10 minutes walk from Plaka & Monistiraki. I would definately stay here again.

There wasn't anything not too like.

The location is great, very close to Syntagma Square (where the airport bus stop is, ideal if you have very early/late flights), shopping street, and main tourist attractions. The staff is nice. The room is clean and quite spacious. Standard breakfast.

The noise! I could hear the elevator going up and down, people in the corridor, and the housekeepers in the storage room (which was next to my room).

the breakfast was very good, the location is amazing, the staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable.

rooms need a little modernizing; the tv is old and small for today's standards, and the sound isolation is not good: we could hear the functionaning of airconductinigns/heating, or something through the conducts, all night long.

Wonderful location and so close to the buzzing streets and Syntagma Square. Breakfast room very unhurried with a good selection of food and some helpful recommendations by the nice gentleman who looked after guests there. I had the wonderful roof terrace to myself on both mornings and enjoyed the spectacular view of the Acropolis that it presents. Truly a wonder and a great selling point for the Arethusa Hotel. I needed to check out earlier than planned and I found the reception staff and manager so helpful and concerned about this. They were keen to offer me a quieter room, but I needed to visit my friends in Glyfada who, incidentally, had originally wanted me to stay with them for my entire visit to Athens. Indeed, they came in to accompany me on both days and I was due to visit them and drive down the coast to Sounion on Day 3, so it made sense to accept their offer at this point. They are nearer the airport too and they drove me there on Sunday morning. All this detail, by the way, to assure readers that my experience with the Arethusa Hotel and staff was extremely positive! Greeks are such nice people in my limited experience - Thank you all. Best wishes!

The streets didn't quieten down until after 2am, so I didn't get to sleep until after that time. I'm a night owl anyway, so that wouldn't have bothered me normally, but damn it I woke very early too. My problem, my insomnia. First morning 6:30 am but no complaints - after all I'm in ATHENS - and I've been awake at the crack of dawn in far inferior places I assure you! However, I would have liked an earlier night that night, but the city wanted to stay up so same story again with late sleep and early awakening! (I use earplugs too as it happens). I'm laying the blame here on my own blasted insomnia, by the way. When I'm at home in Ireland I need the entire village to be gone to bed before I attempt to sleep!

The location is excellent—just two blocks from Syntagma Square and very near to major bus and metro stops. Restaurants and coffee shops are all around, and there is a convenient pharmacy on the next corner. The staff is helpful and knows how to deal even with complex problems. They arranged for a doctor to visit my friend in her room. He arrived within an hour, examined her, and wrote a prescription for just what she needed.

My room faced the street so it tended to be noisy late into the night. There are two very tiny elevators, and at busy times it is quite difficult to get access to one. We were on the eighth floor so walking the twisting stairs was not a viable option. One morning I timed my wait for the elevator at eleven minutes!

The location was excellent - within walking distance of the metro and the city centre. The hotel was also conveniently located for access to the Parthenon and other archaeological sites, several museums, gift stores, restaurants, a mini market and more. The breakfast was basic and repetitive but good - if you are looking for pancakes, omelettes, crepes, eggs etc, I recommend going to one of the several coffee shops located near the hotel. I had a single room, which was compact but spacious enough for one person. Located on the third floor, the view from my room was a construction site - but it was thankfully quiet.

Excellent location, close to the major attractions. Several good places to eat nearby. Breakfast was simple but well presented and tasty. Plant based milk on offer at breakfast was a bonus as we prefer not to drink regular milk. 2 lifts in reception meant you never had to wait long for a lift. Room was smart, clean with a good bathroom. Comfortable bed, coffee machine, kettle, fridge, table & two chairs to sit at and large TV. Reception manned 24/7 with seating area in lobby. Would definitely use the Arethusa again.

Could have done a little more with the rooftop area with a fantastic view of the Acropolis. See picture from rooftop.

Perfect location between Syntagma and Monastiraki, bus stop just at the corner with bus for the airport (in case the underground is also at 2 minutes, going to airport or Pieraeus port). Walking distance to Acropoli and to every cultural site. Wide room, very comfortable mattress and pillow, fridge with bottle of water for free, kettle, slippers, bathroom with shower box (not so frequent on Greece) and bathroom set. A quality continental breakfast included in room price. Reception 24h. Baggage storage. So you have all services you really need for a very honest price!

Very narrow elevator Some noise in the morning from the street, but not so annoying

Extremely central - literally seconds where the bus from airport drops off. Walking distance to everything. I was here for work so needed WiFi and it was strong and worked well in all areas. Rooftop view was amazing, rooms clean and tidy, breakfast was very pleasant and had everything you could possibly need (though couldn’t locate English breakfast tea). Very pleased overall and would absolutely stay again.

No tea making facilities in the room. Works being done around the hotel extremely noisy - on my first day there was almost constant drilling. Room walls were thin (lady next door shouted at me that I was being loud - I was travelling solo and working from my laptop so not sure how I could be being loud) but could hear people coming and going constantly, doors banging etc.

The location was perfect - centrally located to Syntagma Square and a walking distance to pretty much everything. Although breakfast might be too basic for others, it is just simple, everyday food that you will eat and I did not mind that at all. The room for me was clean, sufficient in size and has the basic amenities. The bed was comfortable (although I developed rashes from the bed linen as i have sensitive skin) and bathroom facilities were basic but working well. I think the hotel caters sufficiently for the basic needs of the travellers and that is perfectly fine for the rating they have. In my opinion, they have provided and maintained the services expected from their status. The staff were helpful, too. Overall, the room was clean (I have OCD with cleanliness) and my overall stay was comfortable and amazing. I will definitely stay at this hotel, again for my regular trips to Athens.

The rooms were probably built with thin walls as I could hear the conversations from the hallway from fellow tourists or even when the television was on from the opposite room however, i did not mind this at all as during rest hours, the occupants were all considerate with their noise/activities. It was still a relatively quiet place. The lifts may be too narrow for some but again, i did not mind this at all.
