The main restaurant had some gluten free options and the Italian restaurant had gluten free pasta which was great even though this wasn't advertised on the menu, we had to ask. We were told the steak couldn't be done gluten free so I assume some of the staff need some training in food allergies. The breakfast buffet had gluten free bread but not a GF toaster and also didn't have food allergies labeled for the other buffet items. The room was great, felt fairly new, awesome bed and great shower and bath and so on. The spa was also really nice and we had one of the best massages ever.

One pool was being rebuilt so the remaining pool was busy and it was advised against swimming in the ocean due to jellyfish but I think that is seasonal.

The staffs were exceptionally friendly and they are such a delight to meet every single time..

The balcony is full of mosquitoes especially at night

There is not much to do in Desaru so the quality of the hotel was most important to us. Westin was very nice, really near the beach. Too bad the infinity pool was under renovation during our stay and we didn't really want to swim in the other landscaped pool. We would have brought our own foldable bikes if we had known there was a nice cycling track round the property. They had good bicycles for hire (first hour free) but most were taken. The hotel front desk suggested an upgrade to a partial sea view which was worth the MYR50 extra. Quite happy with that. Room was spacious and very clean. Just across the property is another hotel which had a live band and the hotel offered a buggy ride, but we realised it was so near we were happy to take a stroll back after drinks there. The service level at Westin is awesome. Super friendly staff always ready to help, as expected of Marriott group. We are fussy travellers and they met our expectations. I would stay at Westin again with larger family if we want to visit Desaru again.

Not much to do in Desaru but that' s not a problem with the property 😅

Dinner buffet was great. Breakfast was great. Staff allowed earlier check in was great. Hotel amenities and facilities was great too. Shuttle bus to drop at waterpark was convenient as well. Great hotel for a relaxing getaway.

We stayed for 3D2N. Everything was superb except for day 2 when we came back to the hotel after our day tour around 3.30pm, to realise that our room hasn't been cleaned. We left hotel around 10am earlier. We do know that hotel is full house due to corporate bookings, but to receive this from a renowned hotel is not acceptable.

The check in process was smooth. During the check in, we were offered a a welcome drinks that is so refreshing. They also have kids corner which held a craft activities on the day of our arrival and my kids have the opportunity to join it. The breakfast spread is variety and delicious. The ambiance of the resort is so relaxing. The beach is in a walking distance from the hotel just a little walk and you will arrive at the beach. All over the place, the staff is very welcoming and they will great you with smile Thank you to the staff that attended us during our arrival, the guy with glasses (sorry forgot the name) and Mr Leong and Ms Cece who attended us during our check out.

The price for the spa services is slightly expensive. Maybe they can offer a less expensive services so the guest can have an experience there.

A great hotel. Very clean and excellent dining options in the hotel. Dining is not cheap but the quality is very good so I dont mind the prices. Hotel is good for families with kids and teens. Beach is next to the hotel, very accessible. Beach is also very clean, and relatively quiet - yet secure. Hotel sits in a gated complex with security. For teens the water activities look great - but the water was too choppy when we were therr so we could not use. Overall very good for a short vacation from Singapore.

Westin Desaru is very cosy, spacious, beautiful, friendly, All the staff are obliging and give us guidance on options on the types of activities to go for. The bed very comfortable, the breakfast is fulfilling, the view is great. The people are wonderful. At Coral lounge you can play billiards, ping pong, caroom and kids can work out too. It is not peak season so the beach is peaceful. There is hourly shuttle bus to Anantara, Westin, Hard rock, Els ocean and Ferry terminal. Water park is next to Hardrock. There is another at Lotus Desaru water theme park. One must bring more ringgits so that you can enjoy all the wonderful sights. Good to book attractions in advance as some places requires at least 24 hours booking. Because of hot weather , it is advisable to bring hat, fan or umbrella and a pair of sandals as the sand is soft and fine. Mode of transport is via taxi to go to Fruit farm, Golf at Els club, SKS mall & wet market for shopping, Ostrich farm, crocodile farm, watch firefly by foot or by boat, Tanjung Balau Fishermen museum, boat rides, canoeing. As for seafood restaurant you need to find out from the front desk.

The weather is hot. Depended on taxi to go to places of interest and attractions. No convenience store and money changer nearby.

Super easy to get to from the ferry terminal. Free shuttle bus that took less than 10 minutes to arrive at the hotel lobby. The reception is aware that the ferry comes in by around 10am so the rooms were ready for check-in by the time we arrived. The rooms were impeccably clean, well-furnished and had a beautiful balcony with an ocean view overlooking the pool too. Multiple swimming pools to relax in and easy access to the beach with clear water and clean sand.

Our room had a bit of a musty plumbing smell but it wasn’t overpowering or unbearable. The restaurant ala carte meals were on the pricey side but the portion and quality do make it worth it.

Everything was good, they have a very helpful and well-trained staff and makes it feel appropriate for the price paid.

The sound of the fan is very disturbing, at first we didn't know it was the sound of the fan. we thought it was the sound of knocking from the upper room, around 12.30+am we called the receptionist to inform but there was no response from them until the 2nd time we called again in 20 minutes after that and asked them to check the sound. Then they came with a technician and informed the sound came from a fan. They fixed it but the noise came again until we turned off the fan. Its really disturbing our rest time. Stil give 10 out of 10 because their staff, accommodation and atmosphere there very peaceful
