Close to train/bus station, you can easily walk to all points of interest of the city. Rooms are equipped with all you need, having an onsen in the hotel is really nice. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Location was great, a nice walk to station and old town. Surrounding area was quiet and lovely, and the rooms were decently soundproofed. The view from our window meant we could watch the sunset from our bed over the hills. Staff were lovely and very helpful, and there is a free manga selection in the lobby were you can borrow books from to take and read in your room. Restaurant space is also open, outside of breakfast hours for free use, so you are able to do some work, or have some food at the tables whilst helping yourself to their available drinks. Onsen was small but nice, and the womens onsen needs a code to get into, so safety is a priority.

Bed was straight out of the flinstones (hard as rock) and the room is rather small, barely enough room for luggage, we had to climb over ours everytime we got on and off the bed. Toilet was also too small, and was pushed too far under the bench top so the back would sometimes fall and hit you mid use.

The location is 10 minutes walk from Takayama Station and 7 minutes walk from Miyagawa Morning Market. They have onsen, vending machines, and laundry. The room is clean.

The room is little bit tiny

We absolutely loved our stay at this place. The staff were great and very helpful. They booked reservations at restaurants, provided suggestions on places to eat, helped us with our luggage delivery to our next hotel and provided luggage storage. We were even allowed to check-in a few hours early because our room was already cleaned and ready. They had a onsen on site and also laundry machines. It was also a short walk away from the Takayama bus/train station. The room was super clean and comfortable for the two of us. Bathroom was also very clean. All amenities we needed were available.

Really great hotel in Takayama! The location is super convenient as it’s right in the centre, the train and bus station is only a 5 minute walk away. The room and the rest of the hotel was super clean and well maintained. We loved the free cosmetics that were provided! Overall it was just a great hotel, room was modern and had everything we could’ve needed.

The washing machine and dryer are quite awkwardly located, they’re both in the onsen changing room. Which of course means, that whilst you are gathering your washing there’s often people getting changed right next to you.

We arrived to Takayama via train and the hotel was good 5-10min walking distance to the main train station. This helped us a lot, because we planned 2 trips from there. The hotel looks nice and fits well into the surroundings and looks prestigious from the inside. The staff, as is typical for Japan, were very friendly, polite and helpful. We also easily got from it to the famous old town market, so it's well located. The room itself was nice, sized OK, for Japan, so there was nothing to complain about. It was all very clean and the beds were comfy - harder mattress, as is typical for Japan, which we really like! The internet worked well, check-in and check-out experience was great, the staff we spoke to, knew English good enough, that we didn't have any issues. We're only sad, we did not get to try their Onsen (because of our changing plans), we've heard they are great. We will definietly book it again, when we come back to Takayama.

The buffet breakfast was delicious! They highlighted local produce and also offered some western options. In the afternoon, you can hang out in the breakfast area and drink complementary soft drinks. The room itself is on the small side, but there is space under the bed to store your luggage. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had good water pressure and nice, hot water. The location was convenient. It was a short walk to the train station and to the historical area.

The hotel is conveniently located 500m from Nohi Bus Center if you are taking the bus from Shinjuku or Tokyo to Takayama. The rooms are much bigger and spacious than the ones we found in Tokyo. Beds are very comfy as well. They provide unlimited welcome drinks for all guests after 3pm till around 11pm which I found to be very unique and hospitable. Overall lived our stay there and would recommend it highly to anyone who is looking for comfortable stay in Takayama.

The main thing we didn't like was the receptionist who was working at the day we checked in didn't seem very pleasant. My wife was having a bad headache and requested her of some paracetamol or pain relief tablets she just ushered me to a store that is a 10 mins walk from the hotel. Would have been nice if the staff were trained to handle such situations and could provide their guests with basic over the counter medicines if they are readily available which was the case in Tokyo hotels as I got to know.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I liked the amenities and that they offer juice and water for free in the afternoon, evening free lounge.

We asked for a coffee in the morning and we were told we can not have it. We said we want to pay the coffee and the answer was we have to buy the whole breakfast. We want also to stay one additional night and they told us only twin room available and we must change room. On booking where I booked the room it was much cheaper and they had a queen bed foe accessible available. We decide to go to other hotel.

We stayed 4 nights in Takayama at the Wing. Compact, comfortable and clean rooms with good hanging space and layout. Japanese hotel rooms can be too small however while compact our twin room never felt cramped. A short walk to local markets and the bus station/JR station. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfy beds, great water pressure, good wifi.

A small niggle only: The free bicycles are very small and we were too tall to ride them so hired bicycles at Hara Cycle a short walk away
