We had a fantastic week long stay at the San Carlos Hotel. Carlos, Andy and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The hotel's location is very central and many of Manhattan's sights are within walking distance. Our bedroom as well as the bathroom were very clean and surprisingly spacious, and we even got a room in one of the higher floors upon request, which made for a very nice view. The neighborhood, despite being in the heart or Manhattan, is relatively quiet, but this is New York, so make sure to bring earplugs since the firetrucks' sirens can be intense. The hotel does not offer breakfast, but we loved the fact that there are so many multifaceted dining options in the neighborhood. We will definitely stay there again!

The fold-out bed is a bit umcomfortable for people with back problems, but we took turns and the regular bed was so comfy that it made up for it.

Excellent location and lots of room in our suite for a family of four (including a 2 and 4 year old). Walking distance to all attractions we wanted to visit at Christmas time. Staff had a crib already set up in our room when we arrived and quickly sent someone up to our suite to set up the pull out sofa for our 4 year old. All staff were kind and prompt! Great value for the location. There’s a breakfast place across the street but it was popular all 3 mornings we were there; however, there are several restaurants within walking distance. FAO Schwarz and St Patrick’s cathedral a very short walk away.

It is clean, safe, quiet and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Everything is close by regarding markets, breakfast and restaurants to eat. It is close to the subway and you can walk to many destinations. It's not a frills hotel, but was perfect for what we wanted. The rooms are "normal" size and not small just because they are in NYC. We loved the area and definitely would stay here again.

It's a no frills hotel. If you want anything you must ask the front desk. There is a workout area, but no pool or restaurant in the hotel itself. However, every thing is very close by. Starbucks is very close and breakfast is just across the street. However, we did not really feel like this was an inconvenience at all.

We were close to many attractions and we walked to Time Square, Rockefeller Center, and Radio City Music Hall. The last couple days we took the subway which was easy and convenient. The room was spacious and clean. There was a separate king size bedroom and had a living room with a pull out couch for our teenagers. The staff was very friendly and helpful with places to eat and setting up a roll in bed one of our daughters. We also had adjoining rooms with our adult kids. The set up was perfect for the 6 of us.

It was 15-20 minutes walking to the attractions however that wasn't a problem. We had good weather and it was nice to get out and see the city.

I've looked at this hotel 100 times but never stayed here before, it looked dated in the pictures. I finally stayed here and it was great. I can see why people really like it. The staff were so friendly and eager to help at every moment. The furniture is an older style but clean and not beat up. My room was huge with a sitting area, desk and kitchenette. The bed was really comfortable and it was very quiet. I didn't have time to check out any amenities so I'm not sure what's offered. Parking was 3 blocks away, I paid $40 for 24 hours. Subway, restaurants and tourist attractions are all within a few blocks.

I wish I could have stayed longer.

This was a really wonderful surprise. We looked at the reviews and thought, how could it be so great, but we gave it a chance. It definitely exceeded our expectations. The staff was wonderful. I mean fantastic. And the rooms are comfortable, the hotel is quiet and it's super convenient. Great value. Hats off to the management here.

The rooms are in need of a refresh but not desperately so.

Great location. Compare to other hotels in the city: the room was very specious and had 2 queen beds which is very rare in NYC. Also, the parking fee was relatively reasonable. Late checkout was very comfortable option.

Staff at reception could be a bit more friendly and helpful (when I asked questions I was answered Yes/No as if I was interrupting them).

Hotel was clean and well-maintained. Bed was comfortable and having a small kitchen area was really convenient. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

There wasn’t really anything we didn’t like. The only the thing that was a little strange for us was having the one bathroom off the bedroom but not connected to the living room area. I was sharing the elite suite room with my son and his girlfriend. There were times that I was in bed and they had to come through my bedroom to use the restroom. But it really wasn’t a big deal.

Friendly staff, big rooms, clean and comfortable.

Paper thin walls. Could hear the people next to us perfectly till after midnight and again at 6am.

We loved the safety and cleanliness of the hotel, the staff was very kind, and it was located close to everything we wanted to walk to.

I don't think there is anything we didn't like, NYC is expensive but we thought this was a great hotel for the price.
