Amaya is run by the warmest and friendliest french families. They take care of you like you are a close relative and have excellent sense of when to socialize and when to let you rest. We stayed there for a total of nine nights and had one of the best experiences of our lives. We have been to many high end luxury resorts and hotels in the world and we would choose a place like Amaya every time over the Ritz Carlton or Sheraton. Here you are seen and cared for in the best way. Let me give you some examples: 1. When we arrived they noticed that our kids are big (tall) and gave us the bigger family room with larger beds 2. When they noticed that I always leave the yellow of the hard boiled egg they made sure to peel and remove it for me. 3. We put out some clothes to dry and they made sure to switch the places so that they would be in the sun and dry as quickly as possible. The family makes the difference here but the facilities and food are also 10 out of 10. Breakfast was excellent, freshly baked bread of different varieties including some more healthy options plus baguette etc. Different kinds of fresh fruit, a large variety of freshly baked bakeries and fresh juice every day. On top of that the chef makes very nice omelettes any style you want. Which you can have with avocado, tomatoes, bacon and cucumber. 10 out of 10. Facilities are spotlessly clean. Fresh and modern with everything you need. Lots of storage for your clothes, fridge, safe, water cooker etc. Rooms are well designed with great care taken to make sure you have a place to put stuff and the beds are super comfortable. Shower and toilet are the same, modern and clean. All in all, we do not hesitate to recommend you to stay here. We loved it, our kids loved it and we are already thinking about coming back.

The location is about a 10 min scooter ride from Lamai center but it did not affect us as we prefer not to stay in the noisy part. The resort is on a very nice and pittoresque neighbourhood which is calm and quiet at night and there is almost no noise from the animals or insects. The only thing I would like to see improve is to have some way to close the shower as there is no curtain. Another thing is to provide french press or brewed coffee for breakfast. You have coffee but it's not pressed.

Overall a very comfortable stay, will keep this place in mind for next time. Friendly and helpful staff/hosts, clean room, laid-back atmosphere.

a bit of a walk to city centre — although the resort was clear about that part! no hills, you just need to be comfortable with the walk, especially when it’s peak sun hours. The resort has scooters to rent (do it) and offer a taxi contact.

The resort was so peaceful and beautiful. The family who owns it is so nice and does everything to accommodate you. The staff are so friendly and you feel like you’re a part of their family- for example, they knew how I liked my coffee and that I wanted avocado at breakfast so they provided it. Also, the breakfast has so much variety and is amazing. Everything is so clean and the rooms are beautiful. Even though it’s not in the main area, it’s only a 5 minute drive and there’s plenty of taxis/grabs and motor bikes. Overall, the place was incredible felt like home. Will 1000% be back.

Beautiful resort & room, staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Really relaxing place to be with a nice breakfast included. Offered us late check out even though we didn’t request it as there was no one checking in to our room immediately after. Nice hot shower, everything very clean and good room amenities such as fridge, hairdryer, comfy bed and smart to with Netflix ideal for a chill night in to shake off the jet lag.

Only minor thing I would say is that the location is not super central (not a bad thing if you’re looking for some peace). It’s about 30 minutes walk to restaurants/ bars etc. but reception have scooter rental available for a reasonable price which makes everything accessible in about 5 minutes. Taxi service available also if you prefer.

I had a beautiful ground floor room which was immaculately clean. Directly outside my room were 2 comfy sunbeds which kind of sat in the pool, which was lovely. The hotel is owned by a lovely French couple (Nancy and Jenny) who are great people. Nu also works there and she is so lovely and friendly. Very relaxing stay.

I'd had a recent bike accident at the Ha Giang loop, and I wasn't ready to get on another bike and therefore I had to walk everywhere! The walk into town was unpleasant on dusty roads especially in the heat. You definitely need transport otherwise you will be isolated. Grabs aren't as accessible in Koh Samui as some other places. Breakfast wasn't amazing. They need to provide nicer bread for one. Instant coffee is included in price but a nicer coffee (i.e cappuccino) isn't. It would be a nice touch if it was.

10/10 wonderfull resort. The owners are great and super helpfull. Rooms are clean and modern. One thing to point out is the breakfast which was delicious. Scooter renting was smoothly and they keep the vehicles in a very good condition. They even called multiple stores to organize us a third scooter. Location is nice, everything just a quick drive away.

Quiet and relaxed, staff were really helpful and friendly. The pool was very accessible from your room, rooms and pool kept very clean. Would definitely recommend to others. We hired a scooter from the hotel, which is needed so you can get to shops/ restaurants and other attractions.

There is no door between the bedroom and bathroom. The was no blanket on the bed, only a sheet.

We found the owners and staff to be very welcoming and friendly. Everywhere was spotless. Lovely warm pool. Lots of water, coffee, tea, biscuits & nibbles provided. Breakfast was simple but good. This complex is a little out of town centre but so easy to get taxis and the lady owner very kindly gave us a lift to another complex which was a bit away, at no charge. We would definitely stay here again, if returning to Koh Samui.

Two minor points, it would be helpful to have a full length mirror and net curtains or similar on patio doors for privacy.

We stayed at Amaya resort for 3 nights and very much enjoyed our experience. It has the esthetic of a fancy resort and the appeal of a friendly bed and breakfast. The family who runs it gave us great tips on what to see while we were in Koh Samui and ultimately elevated our experience of this beautiful island. The cleanliness of the resort is enough to recommend this place, but the service and the hosts efforts to make sure you maximize your vacation (including on site scooter rentals and mapping out different areas to see) make this place 5 star. Merci! We hope to be back again.

The necessity of transport made us anxious at first, but Amaya made this easy for us with cheap on-site scooter rental (which gave us more freedom to see the whole island). So not a negative in the end! :)
