The Peniarth Arms is a 'proper local', i.e. a lively, popular pub with elegantly refurbished guest rooms. My room had a very comfy bed with plenty of bedding & cushions. I arrived later than expected but this wasn't a problem. In the morning I woke to a beautiful view over fields and mountains, and then enjoyed a delicious porridge. The location was good, close to Tywyn - only a couple of minutes' drive away - and ideal for the hills just inland.

Maybe the signage could be slightly more obvious. I arrived in the dark and drove straight past the pub, but, admittedly, I didn't have a satnav and should have read the address more carefully ...

The surroundings are beautiful and the bed very comfortable in a clean room. Nice lively pub. The breakfast was excellent, we had eggs benedict and full Welsh.

The check-in is at the bar and it was very busy when we arrived at 7pm. I was told by waitress that we had to wait in the drinks/food queue (with our luggage) The wait time was only about 10 minutes and very quick once we were served, but as the bar was so full and the queue being in a pinch point between the 2 sides of the pub it was quite awkward with the bags. I would suggest to prioritise people checking-in over drinks orders to get them out of the way.

The food of an evening in the restaurant was exceptional, not cheap but worth every penny.. breakfast was good, no need to eat out anywhere else, access to the room at any time was useful , two chairs in the room would have been an improvement, but appreciate depends on size, everything for your convenience otherwise, good place to stay for surrounding area, which is beautiful, bed was very comfortable,

Parking was often busy, and rather messy, but that was due to the weather.

Considering we had essentially "gatecrashed" a family new year's eve party unintentionally, by booking last minute and being the only non friends or family member in the pub, everyone was lovely. We were made to feel very welcome. The steak was really good, cooked well. The bed was super comfy, a beautiful backdrop of the cader Idris mountain range. This was supposed to be our last motorbike adventure of 2023, however predicted storms made us take the car for safety, we were not disappointed by the beauty of the road from machynlleth to the pub which made up for not being on bikes. We will be back. Thank you to everyone who made such an effort to make us feel welcome despite not being family.

Could almost see your breath in the bedroom when we arrived, no heating on, found a radiator on the wall and an extra heater in the wardrobe. Set them to low and went for a drink before coming back upstairs for a shower by which time the room had warmed up. Not a major issue but maybe a suggestion that heating could be on low for an hour before guest arrival?

As I was doing Race the Train in Tywyn only 5 minutes away the location was perfect for us. Staff were friendly on arrival and booked us a table for an evening meal. Rooms looked to have been recently refurbished and although not my taste could not be faulted. Food was good but not exceptional. Would definitely return.

Bit noisy, music and drinking still going on at 02:30. Not loud noise but as we needed windows open, it was a warm night, we could hear.

The room was simply amazing. I felt like a king, everything was clean, the room was gorgeous and big. I haven't been this comfortable sleeping in a long time, for a solo bed it really felt like a king bed

The only problem i had was when i arrived there were no instructions about the wifi like the manager told me they were, i had to ask to some friends from another room to get the password. And the electric socket in room 1 that has the kettle and the tv is loose and sometimes it doesn't connect so it could be a problem if watching tv or charging something since it was the only one with a usb imput

lovely pub/hotel The room was beautiful and very comfortable lovely bedding towels and throws exceptionally clean too. Food ordered was lovely and both food and drink were very reasonably priced lovely views and a nice quiet elevated patio for guest use

it was busy and a lot of locals were sat at and around the bar making it difficult to get to the bar and to register Which made me feel awkard being on my own No breakfast option

Excellent room, clean, warm, comfortable, quiet. I booked an evening meal and had the Sirloin steak and it was cooked to perfection. I really couldn't have been more satisfied and would certainly book again. The staff were very friendly and it's a great location.

It wasn't a problem for me but access to the rooms was via an outdoor metal staircase so may not be suitable for anyone with restricted mobility.

The room was better than we expected although access was a little strange being via an outside staircase to the first level then inside. We only had breakfast (which was extra) on one day. It did take them 50 minutes to serve us which would have been a disaster on the other two days as we were meeting up for a tour. Otherwise everything was very good. The member of staff (Tracey I think) who welcomed us on arrival and was in the bar was spot on. Efficient and polite even though it was busy.

Time taken to serve breakfast on the one day we had it.

Location and facilities were perfect for the nature of a quiet get away. Carparking was troublesome and secure. The separate access to the rooms was convenient. There were a number of staff on duty over the period of our stay with different roles, and from first contact to our time of leaving we were met with a courtesy and friendliness by everyone. The food is excellent and worth a visit alone if not staying over. Although a pub there was no disturbance, noise or interruption to any part of our stay. We are already looking forward to visiting again. Thank you
