The hotel is in a great location 5 mins walk to an excellent selection of restaurants, cafes and shops in Soho, close to little Italy and China town, and surprisingly quiet given how central it is. The room itself was very cool, spacious with two huge, comfy beds, gorgeous bathroom with underfloor heating, Oritigia toiletries & excellent shower.
I hadnt noticed that there was no lift and we were up 3 flights of stairs - fine for us but for anyone with big suitcases or any physical disability a major accesibility issue. The staff were fine but not terribly helpful and there were no additional amenities like a bar, cafe or room service.

Such a funky hotel! Rooms were a great size and the beds were ridiculously comfortable! Good area, within walking distance to little Italy and Chinatown.
No lifts, beware if you have lots of luggage! May have just been the position of our room but there was a lot of outside noise at night, kind of a waste of those delightfully comfy beds! Also still waiting for my security deposit to be released which is annoying. Our travel partner was charged a couple hundred without warning, upon calling discovered that apparently each room has a camera for guests to use for photos and said camera was not in their room after checkout so the hotel took it upon themselves to charge them for the camera. be aware of this when checking in!!

Helpful staff, spacious room with very comfortable beds, fun decor, good location for eating, shopping & to explore Manhattan.
Some street noise but that’s part of city life and we still slept well. Would have liked water provided either in room or by reception (staff were obliging in filling up our water bottles) and glasses rather than plastic cups would be nicer & more environmental.

The staff were very friendly and the hotel looked cool, and the room was clean and comfortable.
The excessive about of perfume used throughout the hotel. aka "scent marketing". It was overpowering in the lobby and corridors. All the clothes I brought with me, whether I wore them or not, now REEK of your perfume which you may not realise, is in fact toxic to both guests and staff, no matter what the company that supplies you with the perfume claims. Anyone with MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity) would not be able to set foot in the building. See https://seriouslysensitivetopollution.org/2015/01/26/are-fragrances-drugs-by-design/ Why not install air purifiers instead?

The staff were lovely and worked to meet everything we needed. The room was nice and the beds were comfy. The hotel location was very close to several subway stops and we were able to get around easily.
It was an old refurbished building, and so there was no elevator, only stairs. I would not recommend for people who have trouble with that. Our room was a little narrow, but as it had three beds it just meant we had to move around each other. Also, I would have liked to know that the internet was not included in the price before we went, and while we paid for it, it was not very fast.

Nice hotel with great location in vibrant SoHo. Room was fine for us - a familiy on four incl two teenagers. Large beds.
Nothing, except that they need to fix the door to the room hits the frame when you close it.

Cannot beat the location!! Everything is a quick 15-20 minute train ride or walk away. The hotel is artfully designed and decorated. Staff was super friendly and attentive during our weeklong stay. My family was treated very well and offered assistance at every turn.
If I am being picky, the showers were sometimes slow to warm up, but they do get nice and hot. Also, the street noise was noticeable on the weekends for my family - probably not an issue for people who are interested in the nightlife in the area. Taking these into consideration, I’d still book Sohotel again for a future trip.

The rooms accommodate a family of five which is hard to find in New York. Nice warm urban feel. Slightly on small side yet it still worked. The walled wardrobe of hangers seems to work well for hanging of clothes and the long wooden bench was great too for bags and other items. The bathroom was small and basic but clean. The staff require a deposit on arrival of $200 and if you arrive before 4pm even if your rooms available they will still charge $25 to get into your room before the time stated. So we decided for them to store our bags, we went shopping and came back and our bags had been placed there ready for our return into our room. No other real facilities on offer it’s a very small hotel.
The view from my room overlooking about 50 black rubbish bin bags from the property across the street wasn’t giving the best view, one I have never ever experienced in a New York hotel, however the room cost makes you forget about these parts. However the vintage football shirt shop next door to the hotel was a hit with my two children!!

The Sohotel is a quirky boutique hotel. The minute you walk in you get a sense of the unique style through the eclectic decor. Staff are friendly and approachable. Complimentary coffee and tea in the morning is much appreciated. We were a party of 4 in a double queen room (room 219). Fairly small space with a tiny but serviceable bathroom for four people. We stayed 6 or so nights and were fairly comfortable - you have to manage the space a bit in a room like this but overall we enjoyed ourselves (we were out most of the time so being in the room was just for the end of each day). Some people have complained about the hissing heater - it does hiss, but that didn't bother us. We would definitely stay again if only for the fabulous location near Little Italy, Chinatown, Soho, Lower East Side - a quick walk to the two bridges (Brooklyn and Manhattan) and subway all around. You can't really go wrong
The bathrooms need a refresh and an update - it wouldn't be hard to make them nicer and use the space better. The keyless entry with app was very capricious and we ended up needing physical keycards

The whole vibe of the hotel was very chic, it felt like exactly what you'd expect in Soho/Bowery. The room was comfortable, the bathroom floors were heated, overall everything was just what we were looking for.
It was pretty expensive, but I suppose thats to be expected considering the season and the neighborhood. Also, there wasnt an elevator and we stayed on the 4th floor. Hoofing up and down the stairs after putting in 20,000 steps was challenging, but we are all young and healthy so it wasn't a big issue. Could be a deal-breaker for someone with mobility issues.
