The 6-bed room for females had more than ample space for 6, with lockers and in-room sink; baths-toilets out of room. Great lighting at beds, over sink and ceiling. Great forest view from an opening window for ventilation. Spotless cleaning and efficiency throughout. Team spirit, throughout - no one seemed to be relegated to a specific task - all customer oriented. Great experience! Highly recommend, will if, in area, return again. Great self=use kitchen and dining area, including close to super-market, and bus station for local buses and distant buses. Highly recommend - all types of solo/group travelers!

I booked with my partner the en-suit room so had plenty of space, good shower and toilet facilities. Liked the fact it had parking and someone in reception. We just finished the nc500, so a bed, shower, and warmth were well needed, and this place proivded all of that as well as a self serivce kitchen, which is nice. You can also book if you wish i saw a buffet style breakfast that they provided, which is reactively cheap, but i didn't go for this option, so I'm not sure about quality.

If anything just the fact it felt a little dated in the corridor going to our room, however not a deal breaker for the price and things you do get.

Good value for money booking direct. Clean rooms, bathrooms & kitchen. Wooden beds don't squeak and mattresses are comfortable. Bedding clean. The décor is better than most hostels. Free WiFi with strong signal. Kitchen facilities very good. Smart reception area. Quiet at night because it's away from city centre. Laundry facilities. Tourist Information. Showers powerful & plenty of hot water. Plenty of plush communal seating and a good sized dining area.

Relatively minor issues that wouldn't deter me from returning but need mentioning: One double electric socket is insufficient in a dorm room with 6 beds and only 4 lockers so 2 people have to go without if full occupancy. Needs individual socket/USB per bunk in this day & age. Inadequate ventilation in shower rooms and not enough hooks/shelves to put clothes/toiletries. Toilets not very private: 3 narrow flimsy cubicles with a gap at bottom. No shop nearby; need to walk into city centre, 15 mins. Reception staff could be a little more friendly.

An excellent place to stay for exploring Inverness and surrounding areas for a day or two, especially if, like me, you want a break that doesn't cost a fortune. The facilities are typical youth hostel - basic, functional but everything you need for a comfortable stay. The self-catering kitchen is large and well-equipped. I took an en-suite bedroom that was clean, light, quiet, warm and good value. The hostel would take large parties. I don't know what it would be like then but mid-week in November I only saw adults, with a wide range of ages. The atmosphere was quiet and calming.

The duvet on the single bed was a bit on the small size.

Loved loved loved the night staff - they were extremely helpful and helped carry my very-heavy suitcases up 3 flights of stairs. I honestly don't know what I would have done without them. Hostel is great, looked fun, amazing kitchen, lots of people around so highly recommend for all young travellers.

We had requested a room on the ground floor, as I was travelling with my aged mom, but when I reached they said all rooms were booked. They "upgraded" me to a private room, however it was in a poor condition and not comfortable, with poor ventilation. However, it was their supposedly "backup" room, so not sure if all private rooms are bad.

I had a great private room, comfortable bed. When I booked I actually thought I was booking a shared room so definitely not a bad price. It seemed very clean and like there could be a good atmosphere as well, though I was only staying one night so didn't get a chance to meet anyone. Altogether I'd stay here again for sure.

I hate early check outs before 11am, 10am check out is a little early. My room was a bit noisy in the morning, could hear everything going on at 7am in all the rooms roundabout, doors closing, toilets flushing, people talking. it's also a bit far out of town.

Liked being able to store luggage prior to check in. Liked the kitchen and eating facilities.

We walked way out of our way from the bus station trying to find the hostel and went to a home at 12 Victoria Road that was not the hostel and the owner kindly directed us around the corner. It was exhausting... The reading light in my lower bunk in rm 153 was broken and I didn't travel with a towel so couldn't have a shower or dry my hands in the female washroom as the drier was not working. My partner, also in a dorm room, 152, had a towel on his bunk and was able to have a shower. We were told at check out that that was an oversight on the part of staff. It should have been made clear on booking that one needed to bring a towel.

I liked the location, it was not far to walk from the city centre, but it was far enough to not be disturbed by traffic noise, so it was a very calm and quiet place. The kitchen was really great, it was very spacious and well equipped. The common areas were cozy and we could watch the Olympics on huge screens.

It’s a very old hostel, which reflects the furnishing and standard of the rooms and bathroom in particular. The rooms and bathrooms were very small and tight, so it was a bit too intimate and no room for personal space, but I got used to it.

The Youth Hostel is a hidden gem of UK travel. The staff are amazing and were so very helpful when our train was so delayed and gave me confidence that we'd still be able to access our accommodation despite the late hour of arrival. The site is very peaceful, and our private room (with room for 6!) was spacious with a large shower room and fluffy towels. The YH beds are always comfortable, which a very snuggly duvet and pillows. The curtains kept the room dark overnight. As ever, the YH was quiet overnight, and we all slept well. We had a "Wee Breakfast" which is enough to set yourself up for the day and had GF and DF options. There's also a well equipped kitchen if you have brought your own food. The public areas are maintained to a high standard and there's a storage area if you want to leave your luggage whilst you explore the area.

Ha! My only criticism was it wasn't available for our return stop-over night in Inverness at the end of our journey.

Scotland has some great hostels and this one is really fantastic, and actually quite large. The lobby is modern and welcoming. Although I did not use the kitchen or laundry facilities, it's nice to know they are there. The kitchen is huge and brightly colored. I was just there one night, but I would stay there again on a next trip to Inverness. I left early so did not get a chance to have their 'wee breakfast' but it sounds like it's a great option. It's about a 15-minute walk from the train station through a beautiful residential area. The reception staff were wonderful, very friendly. My room was en-suite and it was simply furnished with a twin bed, nightstand and dresser. The shower was quite large and had great water pressure and temperature. All I needed! Clean, simple, easy. My room had a nice view of the garden. Although it was in the same hallway as the male bathrooms and there was a lot of racket from the doors opening and closing, I travel with a small white noise sound machine so once that was on, it blocked out the noise.

The bathroom floor was a wee bit sticky - I think this is due to whatever cleaning solution is used.
