It was in a great location, unfortunately the decor let it down as it needs a bit of tlc to make it very impressive

The room we were in needed touching up in places and modernising, others than that it was great

The hotel adjoins Inverness railway station and so was ideal for us as we were taking a rail tour of Scotland. The magnificent interior reflects its Victorian origins. We found the staff helpful and friendly, with a good selection of food at breakfast and an excellent dinner on the one night we ate in the hotel. Our room was exceptionally large and comfortable.

Despite the grandeur of the hotel it is a little frayed in places, with some chipped paintwork, sash windows in poor condition and torn curtains in our room. However, whilst noticeable and deserving of attention by the management, these shortcomings did not seriously detract from our stay.

Location is perfect, right next to the train station (so a short distance from the bus station) and in the centre of the city. Staff friendly. Reception and bar area really nice, our cosy room was perfect for one night stay with everything we needed. The continental breakfast was more than plentiful with lots of choice. You have the option to upgrade for a cooked breakfast but there did not seem any need. Bonus to be able to leave your luggage in their locked storage room - we needed to be in Inverness for a few hours before our onward train journey later in the day after check out.

I stayed in a similar room before - it is traditional style. Bed was big and comfortable, bedroom was warm, bathroom cool but warmed up quickly. Room was in a quiet area of the hotel and I had very good sleeps due to the lack of outside noise which can be a nuisance in a city setting. The hotel is central for town shopping and we were lucky to park at the hotel part of our trip. The price of the room was good compared to similar style hotels. The continental breakfast was fine and enough for us. Wifi was good and points for charging available in the room. We used the bar but only for a couple of drinks - felt expensive for a group.

It would be good for the hotel to upgrade windows and some bathroom fitting - they are past their best with condensation and failure of opening/ shutting being an issue. Older style electric heaters in the rooms must be extortionate to run.

Central location which is exactly what we wanted. It's a lovely building although the decor is tired looking. The staff were friendly enough. The continental breakfast was satisfactory. The bed was very comfortable.

The lift really needs an overhaul. We thought we were going to be stuck in it as it failed to move to our floor after opening the doors of the floor below. Once the doors opened again we got out and used the stairs. That meant a walk up to the third floor when we went back to our room after being out for the evening. The bar closed at 10pm. Whilst this isn't necessarily a deal breaker it seemed very unusual. The room was clean and on the surface the bathroom appeared clean. However, there were cobwebs behind the sink and the showerhead could have done with a deep clean. If it wasn't for the fact that I needed to wash my hair I wouldn't have used it.

The young receptionist who welcomed us and helped was fantastic. She was so sweet, patient and helpful. What a wonderful addition and advert for your hotel. She sold us the venue with her positive and cheerful interaction and the location was just perfect. It could not have been more central and it was quiet. We only spent a night but will be back. The room was clean and roomy but a bench or chest to put luggage on would have been appreciated. The shower was lovely and hot and the bed was comfortable. We had a delicious breakfast and it was a great help to have the facility of being able to store our luggage until we left later in the day.

Comfy bed, cosy room, cost for one night B+B was very pleasing. Didn't manage to have breakfast as I slept in and had to catch an early bus! On arrival, Irish gentleman at reception oozed happiness, and was very helpful. The ladies in the morning were fine too.

Sound proofing is non-existent in some of these rooms on top floor - I could hear room next door's bathroom taps running, plus every footstep. Guess with the cheapness of deal @ £49, these things can be overlooked - on this occasion I fell asleep as soon as I got into bed, so noise obviously didn't keep me awake!

The highland luxury ambience of the hotel is splendid. Open fireplaces in the sumptuous and plentiful lounge areas. Great food in relaxed Stags Head Bar. All the staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming. The expansive gardens are just gorgeous and the views are a dream. Shuttle bus to the station was very helpful cos taxis are scarce in Pitlochry. Wish I had known before I walked from the station to the hotel. Overall a wonderful building in a delightful setting. Old fashioned highland luxury with wifi etc.

No fault with the hotel, but the walk from the station was greatly underestimated by a local who said an easy 10 mins. Not for a 67 yo lady lacking fitness!! Use the shuttle service. Ring ahead.

The location is perfect if coming via train as it is directly next door to the station. Our room was above the reception area so at the front of the station overlooking the car park. I didn't notice the train noises at all. We travelled via car to the location, as it shares the car park with the railway station there aren't a lot of car parks available however, the hotel manager was able to help me park in a bay and ensured no extra cost was incurred although there are other car parks available. We had a deal where you got a free meal one night and whilst the food was excellent, I wouldnt have paid the prices they were asking.

The hotel itself was a little tired looking but honestly I think its good value for what you pay for and the staff more than make up for it.

A wonderful feeling to dine at the in-hotel ash restaurant for Christmas day. Room and bed were a welcome comfort after the day's travel there, and time recuperating flew by. High street access appears unparalleled.

Parking offered immediately beside the hotel, but someone had parked over multiple spaces, and someone else still had boxed that person in. Other parking options require better prompting as there are two multi-storey parks, but only one has a special rate and the other is much further away.
