2nd part of my trip to Sommarøy - this time in the suite. The 2nd floor suite is beautiful, very comfortable with a spectacular view. Once again, everything is perfect and very clean - house keeping staff are amazing, very well organised. All staff in the whole hotel are wonderful - the reception team are very kind and welcoming. Transport from Tromsø was amazing as always... great driver (the one who does photography/wood work) he's such a kind person and always have really interesting conversations with him on the journey to/from Sommarøy. The hotel and grounds are all well maintained, the beaches are stunning and getting to see the Northern Lights in such a magical location is incredibly special. Loved my time on Sommarøy and at this wonderful hotel - can't wait to come back again :)) Thank you to all the hard working staff for making my stay so amazing!!

My trip to Sommarøy was split between two separate reservations - so two separate reviews :) This is my 2nd time at this wonderful hotel... enjoyed every second of my stay!! My room on the 3rd floor was beautiful - perfect size, clean, comfortable, loved the balcony and the amazing view. The whole hotel is very clean, tidy and well organised. The breakfast was excellent - great choice and very relaxed. All staff are super kind and very helpful. It's a beautiful location and always feels like such a special place to visit.

1. The location is easily accessible (but far! 1.5 hours scenic ride from Tromso) by public transport bus 420. Need to check the bus schedule. 2. Staff have been very helpful and kind providing information I need. I emailed them and they made effort to reply to all my questions in kind and friendly manner. (Really appreciate Matilde, Anna, Ingrid and Marie) 3. Hotel surrounding is very pretty and serene. When you are lucky, you can see aurora from the hotel.

The food choices in restaurant for lunch and dinner are very limited. We waited for 35 minutes for our burger but I appreciate the waiter remembered our orders and explained that the kitchen is busy.

The number of public buses available was quite limited but still it was easy to access. I don’t drive a car by myself so it was helpful. Very modern and clean hotel, price is reasonable. Breakfast was so tasty! I’d love to come back here!

The staff and their website didn’t really provide necessary information. We didn’t know we needed to make a reservation to sit at the restaurant, we even didn’t know there’s complementary tea and coffee available next to the reception and we didn’t know the breakfast time. The room was great but bit noisy.

Absolutely wonderful hotel in a stunning location - everything here is perfection!! My room was incredible, very comfortable, big and very clean… wonderful having a balcony. Great breakfast and free hot drinks available in reception. All staff were so kind and friendly… the ladies on reception were very kind. The two drivers in the transport were great - especially the older driver, wonderful person and we had such a great chat on the drive to Sommarøy… gave me so much information and I truly loved every second of the drive, great welcome to the island!! The team of ladies in the hotel cleaning team were amazing too… especially the blonde lady who seemed to be in charge, she couldn’t have been any kinder and they did a great job of the housekeeping. I really can’t speak any higher of my trip to Sommerøy… one of the most stunning and memorable trips EVER - hoping to return again next year. Thank you to everyone at the hotel who made my trip so amazing!! :)

Good location for viewing Northern Lights. Good food selection at included breakfast, and appreciated the vegetarian/vegan options. Room was comfortable and clean. Nice bar to hang out. Liked the balcony with views of the sky for Northern Lights viewing.

Some of the staff were quite curt and didn’t any more information than they needed to give. For example, the receptionist didn’t tell us how to get to our room, which had us walking around with our bags looking for it. Also, breakfast food was warm, not hot.

The room we booked had an amazing views of the mountains and sea and a balcony with chairs for sitting. Very comfortable beds and pillows and lots of room to move about. The bathroom has a very large shower. Heated floors were a plus. The staff is very kind and friendly. The restaurant on site has very good food for lunch ( fish and chips) and dinner (the reindeer) WOW. The restaurant does get very busy glad we reserved a table before service. The breakfast buffet has so much to offer. All the meats and cheeses you could want. Lots of fresh bread. The coffee machine is one of the best around.

Our room was superb deluxe on the 3rd floor in the main building, Breakfast is really exceptional. Nature and surround is absolutely stunning and we saw twice the Aurora (last week in March) of 3 nights. Thee and coffee facilities. Floorheating the bathroom. Scenic drive from Tromso.

Space for clothes, especially in the winter.Some stuff member could be bit friendlier, but it is part of the culture in Norway in general 😉 The food in restaurant is indeed overpriced and quality moderate, it’s a pity that in this region we hardly could order any fresh fish, we didn’t understand the pasta dishes on the menu here? We booked only 3 nights here, we wished we could stay longer.

This place is amazing. Rooms were comfortable, the atmosphere relaxing and the sauna and ice cold plunge were superb. Staff is friendly and top notch. It was a great escape for us from the zoo that is Tromsø. Come here if you want to relax, hike about a bit and enjoy the northern lights. There are many great places to see them without light pollution. You can skip the expensive Northern lights tours and come here instead. I recommend a car so you can drive about (we saw wild reindeer and moose!). It’s an easy drive from Tromso with a 4WD. We will be back!

It would be nice if they provided bathrobes in the room for the sauna. Otherwise, it was perfect.

I think the best thing we liked about this area is that you can see the Northern Lights from your window! The hotel provides you with a map to show you the best areas to see them and other things to do - but honestly there's not much. We walked by the pier & went on the hills - it was a clear sky so we got to see so many stars until Lady Aurora finally appeared! Other things we liked: -Clean & comfortable -Views from the hotel are breathtaking -Modern facilities -Great breakfast with some good options

Keep in mind that the hotel is an hour away from Tromso airport, so getting a taxi or Uber is very hard. We had to pay close to USD 230 for a taxi from Sommaroy to Tromso central. The area is very secluded so there's barely anything around. I recommend to bring some snacks with you. We really wanted to use the outdoor jacuzzi but they informed us that it's fully booked the moment we arrived. If we had known, we would have booked online or something. Food is expensive - for example one steak can cost you around USD 50 (generally everything in Tromso is expensive).
