Everything.it was my first visit and I will definitely come back
I tried all week to email property for early check in since it was my first time I didnt get a reply . Loadshedding is def a prob and it's not going away so I wasn't very impressed with the 2 candles in the draw and no lighter or matches or holders The resort is so modern so I'm sure there can be alittle more effort put into this like rechargeable lights,I know theres ones that work in Loadshedding but in my chalet the room one didn't and it's also not safe to have candles with kids .

I loved the different types of activities the resort had to offer. The accommodation was exceptional, clean and comfortable. My son loved the fact that he could run outside and just look at the horses and donkeys that were right next to our room
The cell reception wasn't the greatest. Maybe look at getting wifi for the units. The toilet lid was loose

One of the highlights of Midlands Saddle and Trout is the range of activities on offer. There is something for everyone, from hiking and horse riding to fishing and bird watching. The resort's location is also ideal for exploring the nearby Midlands Meander, a popular tourist route that takes visitors through picturesque countryside dotted with art galleries, craft shops, and restaurants. The staff at Midlands Saddle and Trout are friendly and knowledgeable, always on hand to offer advice and assistance. The restaurant serves delicious meals using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and the bar is well-stocked with a wide range of drinks. Overall, I highly recommend Midlands Saddle and Trout for anyone looking for a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway in a stunning natural setting. It's the perfect place to relax, unwind, and reconnect with nature.
Perhaps the kitchen utensils could be renewed and fresh milk is always a great idea.

We had the most beautiful cottage near the stables. We were surrounded by beauty from every angle. The entrance of our cottage was just a few steps away from the horses. The view from our bedroom and lounge was of the grazing cows... We also had beautiful and seren views of mountains and open clean greenery. We never stopped taking in it's beauty. Our cottage was just perfect for us ( 2 adults and 2 toddlers) it was super clean with everything one would need for a relaxing escape. Our cottage was cleaned daily by the lovely Constance who interacted with both our kids while doing her duties (in an extremely timely manner) I had lovely conversations with her every morning and learnt that she had been working at the establishment for 29 years. I was so mind blown. Our 2 year old son went on a horse ride with such an amazing guide. He assured me my baby will be just fine and safe. He encouraged my son in every way he could, he was so funny and entertaining... We were lucky enough to have a slightly nippy evening one night and got to make use of the fireplace. The wood we purchased from reception was absolutely great quality ensuring big, medium and small pieces were supplied. The entertainment provided for both kids and adults are amazing. The food and service at the restaurant exceeded my expectations. Their meals and drinks really are value for money and very reasonable. On arrival we were greeted by the lovely Yastika who showed us around the place explaining all that was on offer. We absolutely loved our stay at Midlands Saddle and Trout and wished we had stayed longer. While on our trip we were planning the next one 🤭
We were not overly thrilled by our neighbors walking from their cottage to their families cottage on the other side of ours. It was abit invasive as everytime they walked pass they would stare directly into our bedroom or lounge. But that really isn't the fault of the establishment and people really should have common courtesy I guess... Not being able to watch Netflix or YouTube however we did manage with a few movies and cartoons on DSTV. The next time we go we will definitely take a smartbox along. Due to being in such close proximity to the cows we experienced lots of flies in our cottage. There was a tin of Doom spray provided which we made use off. We just made an extra effort to ensure food and snacks were always covered. Enjoying the beauty of the animals does change the focus...

I loved everything, the staff were amazing, big self catering apartments and nice big clean pool. Was great
Only thing I would suggest is that the main room has aircon and fans available in the unit. It was extremely hot and leaving windows open attracted many insects. The staff hapilly moved us to another room the second morning and they provided us with fans after asking for them. Great place, had been many times in winter which had fantastic fireplace, but think summer needs to be catered for with fans and aircon as it was 34 degrees. Would most Def go back, as it's geat value for money, great staff, facilities, location, lots to do and a nice peaceful getaway. Thank you for our stay and being so accommodating.

It was a relaxing getaway. The staff were friendly and helpful. The maintenance team responded quickly to any problems. The reception team and staff at the restaurant were friendly and on point. The hamburgers we had were delicious.
The chalet needed some TLC. I do understand it is always a work in progress. It's the little things that matter. The new door has not been painted. The dressing table drawer knob is missing. The cushion on the dressing table chair in the bedroom needs a clean. The kitchen cupboard doors need to be seen to, as the hinges are loose and the wood of the cupboard needs a carpenter to repair it.

From the moment we arrived, it was first class treatment. We welcomed warmly by Pearl, who explained everything we needed to know about the resort. On our first evening there the key broke off in the lock 🙈 We reported it to Pearl the next morning, and before we knew it, the maintenance chap was there to sort it out. The units are lovely, with fireplaces that add an awesome ambiance. Everything was clean and tidy. The grounds are neat, horses, goats, and pigs wandering around grazing. It was lovely to see. All healthy and happy. We had dinner at the restaurant both nights we stayed there and we were really impressed with how lovely it was. We opted for the beef burger and Basil pesto pasta one night, and the next night, a toasted cheese and tomato and the beef burger again both came with crsipy fries Well, they both were absolutely divine. The service was top-notch, and nothing was ever too much trouble. The game/ tennis court facilities are great, and Nonny was a star at assisting us. We also had hot stone massages that were out of this world at LA Vita Spa. The ladies there are so welcoming and friendly. We had the absolute best time and made special memories there. We'll definitely be back. I read a lot of negative comments about this establishment but decided to go and see for myself, and yes, it needs TLC here and there. Everyone's expectations are different, I guess, but we loved it and would recommend it.

Everything. The team at Saddle and Trout were exceptional. I could not have asked for a better. We had booked 12 units for 60 guests over the week and weekend of the 2nd to celebrate my birthday and host a family sports day. We had no complaints; in fact we plan to come back every year to the Saddle & Trout for our family get together. The team went above and beyond to accommodate all our requests and did so with a smile. It was such an immense pleasure to be greeted every morning by the amazing cleaning staff. We had an issue with one of the fridges when we first arrived, the maintenance team was there within minutes to replace the fridge. The service was exceptional and professional in all respects. Thank you Iselle Smith, Nonni, Ruan, Simone, Clive, Yastika, Happy, Constance, Nana, Pearl, Songezo and the rest of the team for making this the most memorable birthday ever. Without you, I would not have been able to pull off the event of the year for my family. It was truly a special time for us at Saddle and Trout. You are all part of the family now. Sending big love to the team.
The flies. But that did not dampen the mood nor the spirit. We were after all on a farm and close to the stables. Insect repellent was provided to us and the cleaning staff helped as much as they could. Thank you Happy, Constance and Nana.

It was an amazing experience. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The facilities met all of our expectations. The rooms were cleaned daily. Beds were super comfy and the apartment very spacious. We were able to wash our clothes at the apartment and send it to the laundry room to dry and iron... For free!! The activities for the kids were great. The views were breathtaking.
The restaurant has a basic menu, short staffed (yet they were very pleasant and helpful) and the food is mediocre.

The view from the entrance, inside, the rooms look amazing. The staff was so welcoming and friendly.
I have been trying to get help with the refund, but I couldn't find help. I booked for 7 people and paid. 1 of my friends lost a loved one and couldn't come with her 2 friends. The clause on cancelling was not visible until I cancelled 1 room and there it was in red, no refund, no change of date. I have been calling trying to get help but no one seemed to be interested in helping me. Sent many emails which were not answered. Other than this hiccup everything was exceptional.
