Location is everything, staff were friendly and helpful, food was good and the hotel was wonderfully clean, this is the 2nd time I have stayed, 1st time I had a garden room which was fantastic, this time I opted for a Kyle view and was disappointed, I had a room in the roof and it was cool even with the heating on, bed was uncomfortable and room was severely height restricted, then to top it all a very restricted view of the Kyle, on the plus side the room facilities were great.
I had a Kyle view room and the room was cool, severe height restriction, uncomfortable mattress and next to no view of the Kyle. Shower was unreliable on a mixer tap and constantly swapped between cold and scald.

We got a free upgrade to a superior room which had an amazing view of the Kyles of Bute, the bed was really comfortable and the facilities provided in the room were good. We had breakfast both mornings which was really good with excellent choice. We also dined in the restaurant on the Saturday night which was exceptional - first class food and service. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and on hand for whatever we needed. Would highly recommend.
Our toilet seat was loose! That's really all I can complain about!

Nice large room, very clean, room temperature easily controllable with plenty of hot water. good breakfast and staff pleasant. Adjacent bar - friendly and well stocked with a variety of whiskies and beers.
During our stay, weather was poor with heavy downpours. These heavy downpours caused what appeared to be the gutters to overflow and produced a constant tapping of drips onto the window sill, a bit like "Chinese torture". At times so loud, sleep during these downpours was difficult. A small niggle in a nice stay.

The hotel side of the property was really nice, great breakfast and friendly helpful staff. Food in the public bar was really really good too with massive portions and good value.
I wasn’t so keen on the public bar where we had our dinner, the food was very very tasty with great big portions but I felt the lighting and decor of the public bar was a little bright for me. My family and I have been coming to the Kames since I was a child so I had fond memories of what it was like years ago and i just wasn’t such a fan of how bright and white it was now. I think maybe some warmer lighting less brightness would make a huge difference.

Great room, great service, excellent food and drink. Oh, and the view…….spectacular. Great to see all the hens running around in the back garden. You know the eggs are fresh, and they were delicious. The owner of the hotel was extremely welcoming. They are proud to source most of their produce locally, or as close to local as possible. Our room was extremely comfortable and we were lucky to have a sea view. Watching the moon rise was totally wonderful, and it was a full moon.
All was good.

What a beautiful location, we were so happy to wake up to an incredible view and be on the beach in mere steps. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the included breakfast was fantastic, as was the restaurant food in the evening. Our room was small but comfortable and very clean, and the hotel was nice and quiet despite being busy.
The cold water supply had issues with turning hot. Although there was a note preparing us for hot water from the cold tap initially (no issue with this), it seemed to switch back and forth while showering, which made the water uncomfortably hot for short periods at random. It seems like a tricky issue to fix but a relaxing shower would have been the cherry on the cake!

Not only a stunning location, but incredibly helpful management and staff. We had Room 4, which commands an amazing view of the sea, made all the more impressive by the lovely bay window. The room had been recently and tastefully refurbished. We came on a cycling break, potentially ruined when one of the bikes had a 'mechanical' on day one that could not be easily fixed. But owners Scott and Eileen leapt into action, first by getting the local hardware store to open up in the hope of a useful part, then, when that part didn't work, to lend us one of their own bikes! And we were able to charge one of the electric bikes. Oh, and the real ale (Fyne Ales) was well kept, and perfect on the terrace with a book. Before the fattest, juiciest mussels for dinner. Highly recommended.

Our stay at this hotel was excellent. The breakfast menu offered a wide selection of options and was cooked to perfection with wonderful ingredients. The hotel has a list of their food suppliers on display and this food provenance is reflected in the wonderful freshly cooked dinners we enjoyed. The main courses were all large portions and very satisfying. The bar had an excellent selection of scottish gins all well worth trying. The room was very comfortable and well appointed and very clean with plenty of tea and coffee supplies. The hosts Irene and Scott are very friendly and made us very welcome.
nothing all was well.

The Kames hotel is a gem of a place. Set in one of the most peaceful, pretty locations in Scotland, it provides an exceptional experience. The hotel is ruch in character, spotless, peaceful, and so quiet. The rooms were beautiful and had a glorious sleep when I managed to tear myself away from the view from the window, which was stunning. I had dinner and breakfast and both were absolutely delicious and fresh. The host was so lovely too and really took care of you. Will definitely return.
Nothing I didn't like!

Good friendly staff. Excellent food & drink. Nice quiet and beautiful hotel location. Rooms nice and clean.
There wasnt much not to like apart from having to drive everywhere and not everything is close by. Plan for fuel, the nearest garage is in Dunoon 22 miles away, but another nice place to visit.
