It's a really special place. From the moment we walked in it was clear that there was a carefully considered and cultivated atmosphere - the staff were warm and friendly and the ambience was beautifully curated. The food (dinner and breakfast) was outstanding and sophisticated without losing connection to the location or being overly experimental. Just really thoughtful and tasty food. The staff were also really friendly, we ended up chatting with the owner at the bar after our meal and enjoyed being amongst the locals in the pub too! The rooms are really comfortable and well stocked. It came with all the facilities you need for a comfortable and generous stay, and it was clean. Homemade shortbread was a welcome touch too!

Really nice, bespoke hotel. Very friendly welcome and beautiful double aspect room. All staff attentive and professional. They made us feel really at home on a stormy night. Lovely furniture and boutiquey touches in the room. We had a lovely meal and their reputation for good food is very well deserved. Dog friendly but, if you don't like dogs, they are only allowed in the bar so you can eat dog free in the restaurant. We brought our border collie with us and ate in the bar. Staff were lovely to him and he was made welcome. Location is perfect - quiet and relaxing, with a nice walk along a very quiet road by the coastline. Pretty community garden nearby and a very interesting museum. Thank you to owner Clare for giving us a room upgrade and we will be booking this room in the future. Breakfast was excellent too.

Right from the start this is a wonderful place to stay - beautiful, peaceful location and a lovely old building. The welcome from the girl manning reception/ serving dinner was truly exceptional as was all of the service we had there. We had a lovely, comfortable room with a great shower. The food was delicious and the dining room is lovely with wonderful views. Can't recommend this place enough. There was even home made shortbread in the room. So nice!

I can't think of anything.

The location of the hotel is stunning. We had a room with sea view and spotted some porpoises and an otter from the window. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. All staff were extremely friendly and the food in the restaurant was exceptional.

Only slight negative was the water pressure from the shower which was pretty low, but I suspect this is due to the remote location and probably not much the hotel can do to improve it.

The Colintraive is a jewel of a place. Beautiful setting, lovely room, wonderful food, and friendly staff. Our visit was relaxing and all our needs were catered for. Every single member of staff was super lovely and went above and beyond for everyone to have the best experience. The restaurant is incredible - everything is so fresh - and there's even real ale in bar. We'll be visiting again very soon. Thank you so much!

Lovely cosy room and such an ideal location for the ferry and exploring the surrounding area. The staff were all cheery, helpful and friendly. I have dietary restrictions and for dinner chef cooked me an amazing off-menu risotto which was delicious and which really appreciated. Also offered to put extra delicious touches on my morning porridge - thank you chef. My partner loved his food too - said it was really excellent.

Genuinely hospitable accomodation. Family run feel, so all the staff are very invested in giving a good service. Menu above average without being stuffy. Comfortable bed and we appreciated a small fridge in the room. We didn't have a room with sea view but it was a decent size and the garden and front area were great for enjoying a beer

Not a bad reflection on the hotel but it was absolutely fully booked for dinner and so a bit tight for space when dining that night. Would probably go back off-season

Breakfast was preordered the night before from a wide range of fresh food and this was excellent. We enjoyed our evening meals very much but staying for 3 nights meant that a number of choices were limited. Quality was top class.

Nothing really. The staff were very helpful and always seemed happy. They were!

The meals were superb. The dinner menu was well considered and the quality of the food was exceptional. The manager and all the staff were attentive, friendly and welcoming. We are near the end of a tour and have to say that the Colintraive stands head and shoulders above the other places we have stayed in. Highly recommended.

Very little. It would be difficult due to the age and nature of the hotel to make it even more accessible for those with disabilities. It is well supported by local customers which in itself is a good sign but does mean that it can be busy at peak times. All guests are well looked after during these times so it doesn’t impact on those staying here.

Perfect location for me - I needed to take the Bute ferry the next day, so it was the place to stay. And the stay itself was really good. Nice room; good bed. Dinner and breakfast both excellent - interesting menu in the evening.

Nothing - it was just right for me.
