Hotel is nice, and location is lovely, especially when we got up to a very frosty, low laying fog in the morning, looking out over to the lake was beautiful. With it being so cold atm, the carpark was fully salted, which gave us little robins coming to steal some grit that was lay, win win! Friendly staff, shown us about. I've recently had foot surgery, so needed to use stairs, which isn't a problem, I'm just slow, but the staff couldn't apologise enough for not having a lift.
Couple of spider webs in the corner of the room, no big deal, just peaked my "oh is there a spider about" fear haha

Nice friendly staff, very welcoming. Easy hotel to find. Nice bar area. Lots if food choices at breakfast, just wish bacon had been cooked a bit longer some was under cooked.
No tv reception in room 2, receptionist confirmed that there had been issues with TV reception earlier before Christmas which had not been resolved. We did get a bottle of wine for this issue. Too much external lights at night. Should have blackout blinds or blackout curtains fitted. Or reduce the lighting. Room 2 is straight above the main entrance so is badly affected by the lights.

They had a full breakfast every day of the week. Very nice, They had biscuits a kettle, Cups in the room, Coffee sachets and tea. In the room we were in it overlooked the car parking area, nice view, had a bed room on one side of the room and a seating area on the other, both sides had a TV. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We did stay for food for one night and that was very good.
The coffee in the room and the breakfast bar was terrible, No mini fridge was available should you want to go out and get milk for a decent coffee.. Car parking as well is terrible. The TV's ,in my opinion, wanted changing around . The larger in theory should be for the greater distance. Not that the hotel can do much but the internet is slower than the telephone signal. i used my phone as a hot spot for gadgets.

Liked everything about this hotel...set in beautiful surroundings, staff were friendly and efficient. Room was lovely , clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good and was buffet, self service. They accept pets at an extra £10. I was offered use of the hotel pool but had forgotten my bathing suit so didnt use this facility but would in future. Didnt eat dinner in the hotel but can recommend the Pheasant Inn which isnt too far away from the hotel.
I asked a female member of staff for a spoon for my cereal in the morning which she duly gave me but then remarked.." you should have a spoon on your table". There was no spoons on my table just knives and forks and I expained that to her but felt that was slightly rude on her part as im not going to ask for a spoon if its on my table! Apart from that the rest of the staff were very friendly and cheery.

Beautiful old English hotel in a great location for exploring the south Lakes. Beautiful room with four poster beds which was very comfortable. Funky lighting options too! For such an old hotel The water pressure for the shower was amazing! The whole hotel and grounds were immaculately clean and well maintained and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast and bar meals were fantastic, great quality food and excellent wine list. We had Wonderful stay with our dog!
The pillows were too thin and the carpark floodlights made it feel like daylight in the bedroom overnight despite the heavy curtains. The only thing thing to let dining down was the old school filter coffee in a jug in the morning, a decent coffee machine would not go amiss.

A lovely hotel in a nice area with a view of the Lake. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Room was clean and well serviced.
Very disappointed with the menu and struggled to find a special meal for my birthday. Pub food, plenty of sausage meals, 3 on one night and fine if you enjoy bar food. We elected to eat in the dining room assuming there would be a nice menu to complement the Hotel. We were very disappointed. The Hotel itself was fine but was let down by the menu in our opinion.

Hotel staff were so lovely, nothing was too Much trouble, bar staff were really friendly as were all other staff we encountered. Reception staff really knowledgeable about the local area regarding fishing and shooting which my partner appreciated. We dined in the bar both nights and have to say the food we had was outstanding as were the breakfast offerings each morning. Our room was nice with views to the front and to the side. Really couldn’t fault our stay. One small downside was the frothing in the hot tub and clump of hair on top of the soap dispenser in the shower at the pool and this was at 8:30am so we only went in once during our stay which was disappointing as it put us off using it. Apart from this minor issue we had a very nice stay.
Clump of hair on top of soap dispenser in the leisure area shower this was at 8:30am so cleaner must’ve missed this??

We have stayed here a number of times now as we have a small dog . The food is excellent and the staff are pleasant . For what we want this is an excellent hotel . We have been over to the swan across the bridge which looks nice but for us the food was not as nice .
It’s an old hotel so can get a bit hot as no air con but it’s not really an issue . They do a curry night on New Year’s Eve which is ok but I really missed the lovely traditional meals they used to do on new year it made it more special.

The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Food was amazing. Lovely evening meal and choices were great . Lovely self serve breakfast too in the morning , would of preferred better continental selection though. Location is pretty good as you can jump on the newby bridge halt just across the road and it takes you to lakeside aquarium. You can also get a boat over to Bowness from there too. Rooms were clean and had most requirements. However duvet was exceptionally thin but did have an additional blanket we could use.
There wasn’t very good lighting for doing make up and was attending a wedding close by. Bathroom was quite small and if you’re taller than 5ft 8 you can’t fit under the shower. The lack of information on how to get into Bowness when we asked was disappointing. It was by taxi which was quite some cost or a lengthy bus ride. I’d of thought maybe being so close to the train stop that would have been a better choice to be told about and ideally this information should have been available from staff at the hotel. View wasn’t the best either.

We stayed in one of the cabins and it was beautiful. It was nice and clean.
There were 10 of us in total and we went for an evening meal in the restaurant. The food was OK but not brilliant, my daughter is coeliac and there wasn't much choice for her. (When i asked if the food was safe for her to eat with no cross contamination at breakfast, the chef did roll his eyes at me, I only wanted to make sure she would be ok). We all added up how much we owed at the end of the meal and paid, but they said we were £20 short, so one of us paid for it. We then went and sat down and looked at the receipt to see where we had gone wrong, but they had added 1 childrens meal and 1 more pudding than we had ordered. I went back to them and explained, and they did give us the money back. However, the breakfast was lovely food and they did my daughter some gluten free toast.
