Convenient location, affordable for NY
When we checked in (myself, my 70 year old mom and my 1 year old daughter) the bellhop was very rude about the tip. The hotel should take into consideration that a lot of guests are from Europe where tips are not expected. They also have a system of one person taking the luggage to check in and then another one to the room. I assumed I’ll tip when we get the luggage in the room. He was asking for the tip while I was checking in, holding my crying baby.

The location of the hotel, it is next to the Grand Central Station and it is easy to use the subway. The rooms are very comfortable and convenient.
The price they charged us is not the same price they offered us on Booking, they charged us an additional $45 per night according to them for the location of the hotel, that increased the stay between $150-200. When we tried to tell the staff that the price was different they got upset, and the treatment was not the best.

Fantastic location & comfortable rooms
Room amenities such as a hot water kettle or water in the room weren't there. Destination fees on top of the room rate doesn't feel very honest. It should be part of the room rate to make a decision basis the total price.

Breakfast was in keeping with a typical hotel buffet.
I booked a room with ‘free breakfast’ on the website, but was charged $115 for breakfast. When I enquired, I was shown my confirmation had ‘no meal option’. False advertising/ bait and switch.

They over charge for basic services that you get for free at other hotels. For example they charge to hold ur bags after checkout which is ridiculous and unnecessary

$15 free in the market which was really helpful, room service was great, rooms were lovely and clean, free WiFi is always a plus
Charging to store your luggage when you check out, I've never known a hotel to do this around the world.

I chose the Hyatt Grand Central due to it's proximity to subway for when I needed to attend broadway shows, and trains when I needed to travel to upstate NY. Great transportation hub without being in Times Square(which I loathe). My room was a great size and my bed super comfortable. When it got warm, my room would cool down quickly. There's things I'd improve, but overall, I enjoyed my stay.
I didn't like that I had to use my $15 food credit towards $5 waters when I feel water should be complimentary in the rooms. There were stains on the carpet near the lobby restroom. In some ways, it felt a little run down. nicks and scratches and such on surfaces or walls.

The hotel is excellently located, very close to Grand Central Station and a few minutes away from Times Square. Rooms were quite big and clean and at check in you’d receive a 15$ daily budget to spend on coffee/ muffins/ bagels/ fruits at the market located in the lobby.
It was quite cold in the rooms even if you’d turn the heater on also due to the fact that doors weren’t closed hermetically and you could feel the cold coming in from beneath the door. Also, the budget of 15$ was only partially covering a decent breakfast ( enough only for 2 small coffees and 1 muffin - for a family of 3).

The location. With the hotel right next to Grand Central Station, we were able to have convenient access to the whole city and more.
The beggers and food truck owners pretty much blocked every way you could walk. The building next to the hotel looked vacant, and its entrances smelled of feces and urine, totally disgusting. There was chunky vomit that decorated parts of that vacant building. Our bathroom ventilation didn't work. The AC in our room felt like it wasn't working properly because it made the room feel muggy at times. We would have to turn off then on again to get it to work properly. The convenient store in the lobby was super expensive! If you plan on getting water, soda, or Gatorade, I recommend going into Grand Central's convenient stores or even better buying from the fruit cup sellers in the subways. They sell water for just a dollar or two.

Good location, good staff, market place in lobby we’re very positive aspects. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were quiet. The size of the bedrooms and bathrooms was good.
There was a closet with a low rail for hanging jackets but there was no place for hanging our coats! The bathroom was a real design disaster. Highest level of shower placement was low. Toilet paper holder not well placed, faucets positioned right under an overhanging shelf. The toilet lid had to be lowered in order to flush the toilet. The soft touch lighting was not easy to manage. The refrigerator had not been leveled so was rocky.
