first interaction at the desk was a gentleman called Joey he was excellent and although we did not use the desk much we were always greeted with a hello or good day The hotel itself has character and is literally a stones throw from Times Square



amazing location. 3mins walk to Bryant park, Times Square n several metro station. we could even walk to Central Park (comfy 25mins while admiring the beautiful city) with 2 boys age 7 n 8. the bedding was super comfortable n clean. also a big shout out to Joie for his warm hospitality

I liked the room and the big bed it was very comfortable. The hotel is in a great location very handy for transport and for walking distance to other locations. Also want to give a shout out to Joey who was very helpful and had some great chats with him. the other staff were great as well.

The elevator has seen better days that's the only fault i can point out. you can tell it has been around a while.

Loud construction just outside the hotel throughout the night until 6 am...

it was the perfect location and just what my cousin and I needed for a NYC Christmas. it was clean and comfortable and no noise whatsoever. and for NYC that’s saying a lot. Joey at the front desk was wonderful as well as the staff. Joey went above and beyond. I would recommend and I would stay again.

The only thing I had to say was the draft under the air conditioner. And it is an old building but I liked it, it was charming. Some people might not want that so it was with mentioning.

Ideal location, great value with all the needed amenities if not on hand, then two steps away. But particularly the fantastic staff - notably Front Desk Staff Joey who definitely deserves a raise) - who were pleasant, professional, very helpful, informative and a joy to see every time I entered or excited. a stellar stay.

The location was amazing, right next to Times Square without being noisy. The room was extremely cozy and clean. The best part tho was the reception. We had the chance to meet Joey, one of their employees, and he was super nice, gave us a lot of recommendations and it was very pleasant to chat with. Will recomend this place to everyone visiting the city!

Location, exceptional. Round the corner from Times Square. Two bars a couple of doors down, a cafe next door. The hotel is very dated, but I can honestly say the cleaners do a fantastic job keeping it clean. It definitely is not luxury but if you are just after a base to get your head down, this works. Bed extremely comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. This was my second visit to the hotel and nothing had changed, the lift that was like a magician box with a curtain draped round it. They are in the process of renovating some of it though, I guess it will be a slow process and then that will obviously effect the price. Fresh linen when room asked to be cleaned, plenty of towels although small.

Facilities within the room, very small bathroom. You had to rest your arm on the sink whilst on the toilet. Lack of plug sockets. One in the bedroom and then 2 in the bathroom. No tea or coffee facilities so advise to take a travel kettle. But did have ironing board and iron. Enough storage space and safety deposit box. Windows could do with being double glazed, kept thinking the window was open because of traffic noise and construction work but obviously this is out of hotels control and if you have had a packed day site seeing its amazing what you will sleep through 😅.

The staff was extremely accommodating, warm, and friendly. I had trouble with my tv, but they remedied it quickly. They were painting the hallway when I was there and the fumes were bothering me, so they offered me a room that was much bigger and nicer away from the fumes with which I was very happy. There are no frills in this hotel like coffee makers, etc. However there are at least three coffee places right on the block! The one next door has excellent coffee and it is $1 cheaper that Starbucks. Breakfast choices and even fresh juices are a 1 minute walk from this amazingly located gem. As an older woman traveling alone to see plays in the theatre district, this hotel was almost perfect. f you're looking for a comfy hotel that is reasonably priced and has a great location, choose the Hotel St. James!

I wish the shampoo was a bit higher quality. It dried out my hair and rendered it lifeless. No conditioner was provided. I wish there was a microwave in the lobby. The water pressure in the shower was acceptable but low. No note-pad or pens were provided in the room, but the staff happily provided paper and pen when I asked.

The location was excellent, Theatre District, Times Square, tour buses, walking distance to Central Park, etc. The rooms are "Manhattan Size," clean, and adequate. The bed was very comfortable. Desk staff were very friendly, professional, and helpful. I met up with friends in the Lobby one evening, we shared a bottle of wine and some snacks and had a relaxing evening.

It was disappointing to not have coffee maker in the room or downstairs in the Lobby in the morning. However there were coffee shops across the street and two doors down. Yes, it was very noisy by 4:00 am, with lots of street noise, some construction across the street stated early. Fortunately I am one who can go back to sleep after being woken by loud noises.
